@mpnola apparently reports were made but it doesn’t appear that it was looked into seriously.. the woman who escaped and the one found deceased were taken from the same area. When she said her friend didn’t make it was the deceased woman the one she was referring to? It’s very likely they knew of each other.

I remember there being a church leader early on saying that. Here's one such article:

Bishop Tony Caldwell was among the community leaders who first raised concerns about missing Black women in the Kansas City area. Caldwell has been serving the community for years and said that T.J.’s case is part of a much larger problem of Black people being abducted and written off by law enforcement.

“If that young lady would not have escaped, we wouldn’t be talking today,” Caldwell told CNN. He said that when family and friends come forward and tell authorities that their loved ones are missing, they’re often written off as ‘runaways’ and not taken seriously

I don't know anything about magnetic door locks and their associated keypads but it's worth having a conversation about. So she pulled the keypad off the wall and the door unlocked. Design wise that makes sense to me; a company would want to design their product to have the door "fail-open" instead of "fail-close" if power to the keypad was turned off. Otherwise people could get locked in buildings during power outages, which would not be safe. If that is indeed the case, it's a helpful thing to know.

I'm never going to forget this!

It's not clear if there is a third victim. The charges filed this week are based on the evidence authorities currently have, and Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson said the investigation is ongoing. He urged anyone with information to come forward.

“Today’s indictment represents the next step in our pursuit of justice for the victims, the families and our community,” Thompson said Tuesday.

In an obituary, her family said Crosdale competed in track and field in grade school and “was known for her superior speed in sprints.”

“Her family never stopped looking for her; and although the outcome wasn’t what we prayed for, we found peace in finally being able to properly put her to rest last year,” the family said in a statement. “We find more peace in knowing that we are one step closer to getting her the justice she deserves.”
