SaintGirl, the book by Mara Leveritt came out a while back, and the movie took its name from that book. However, I believe Devil's Knot does not refer to the shoelace knot and the hair found in it, but to the fact that everyone was so tied up in a "Satanic Panic" at the time of the trials. Tied up in the fear of the Devil and his "worshippers" there was a Devil's Knot firmly in place in law enforcement and the courts when the three teenagers were tried. (Sorry if I tread on anyone's toes, especially Compassionate Reader.) But then, I'm a newcomer to the forum as well, so don't take my opinion of it as gospel... it's just my own take on it!

FWIW, GK, I think you're right!

Thanks to you, both. Like your avatar GK. There's a GK on the forum I'm usually on with the same one. Grassy Knoll.

Anyone want to hop over to the Christina Morris thread, we could use the help.

I agree with you here. Thing with Devil's Knots, they have no "ends", it's a continuous loop..or at least, incredibly complex and pretty much impossible to un-do.. so a very apt image, for this case.

Thanks for all your info, too. I read a lot of it yesterday. Here's link to Christina Morris... http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...t-2014-33-*Arrest*&highlight=Christina+Morris

Thanks for the link to this thread. Once I'm done working on a rather weird theory about this case, I'm going to check out this case. It must be an interesting read! Then again, most cold cases and missing persons cases are interesting. Have a terrific Tuesday, SaintGirl (and everyone else!)...

Is it true that Gary Gitchell changed the case number from 555 to 666? Almost too ridiculous to believe

Lethalmatthew, you're asking the right questions. I have been keeping an eye out for this case number manipulation, today I actually found something for the first time.

Same day also by Ridge:

8th May Ridge report Dawn Moore

Case No. 93-05-0666

Did officer Ridge get mixed up ?

This report by Mike Allen dated May 8th also shows case no. 93-05-0666.

I guess it's plausible that Ridge mixed it up. Since he also 'lost' relevant evidence, I definitely see him capable of getting the case number wrong

Like GK said in post #88, it's documented in Mara Leveritt's book, Devil's Knot, on page 15. Unfortunately, the amazon preview stops at page 10. So, I can't give you a link. However, if you have the book, it's there.
