Details of Disappearance​

Prater was last seen in Natchez, Mississippi sometime in early January 2008. He lived at Evans Boarding House on west Stiers Lane. On January 10, his landlord called his mother to say no one had seen Prater in more than a week. His mother reported him missing at this time.

Nothing appeared out of the ordinary in Prater's residence and nothing was missing, except his medicine. His family stated he has few friends and walked most places. They described him as quiet and easygoing and stated it might be easy to take advantage of him. Few details are available in his case.

Bump for Prater. I grew up where the main thoroughfare in town was called “Prater Way”.

I note that it says his medicine was missing. Does this mean he could have taken it with him and planned to restart his life or become transient, but wanted to make sure he had his meds?

I go places and I’m damn sure I take my mental health meds with me, otherwise I become psychotic and impulsive, turn to substance abuse, and it’s a hellish experience.

Another idea is, what if his medication included a controlled substance like an ADHD stimulant or an opiate or something? Could that point to another party being involved? This seems less likely, but had to throw it out there.

This is a sad case as it would seem Prater is said to have been vulnerable. But especially given when and where he disappeared from, I am not discounting the idea that his disappearance could have been voluntary, perhaps related to his mental health, and he could have survived out there someplace for at least awhile or could even still be alive today, although it has been a super long time.

I pray his family gets some answers.
