More at Silver Alert issued for 42-year-old Lawrence County man

Greg Varnado, a 42-year-old black male from Monticello, Mississippi and native of Pike County, went missing under mysterious circumstances on August 15, 2024. Following his termination from his job at the Town Hall that morning, Greg's whereabouts became unknown after he was last seen around 2:00pm speaking with the Mayor. The details surrounding his disappearance raise serious questions about the events that transpired afterward. Did Greg really make it back home?
..
On the fateful morning of August 15, 2024, Mr. Greg Varnado, known affectionately as Elder Greg had went to work on a normal day at the Town Hall where he was employed, faced a sudden termination from his job around 10:00am. Witnessed by some, he purportedly signed his dismissal documents at around the same time before departing in a red vehicle, the very same one he arrived in that morning
..
By 2:00pm, Mr. Varnado seemingly reappeared at the Town Hall, the site of his recent termination, presumably to seek clarification from the Mayor regarding his employment status.

We have attempted to ping his phone, but the phone is off. We have attempted to locate his vehicle through On-Star,” Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett said. The sheriff added that his personal information and vehicle information has been listed on the National Crime Information Center database.

“Varnado is not wanted for criminal activity. He is a missing person, and we would all like to hear from him so we know he is OK,” Everett said.

Greg was driving a blue 2020 Chevrolet Equinox with a black Mississippi tag before his disappearance.

I imagine that Gregory was very upset and confused, perhaps angry that day. Where could he be?

According to the information in thread#1,he was last seen in the 100 block of Verious Lewis lane. He must then have taken Arm Rd, but in which direction?
There are woods all around, so if he had then left the car and wandered eg into the woods, LE would have found the car.
Then maybe heading to major roads LE will find cctv footage

The car matches the description of a vehicle involved in a missing person case that has been open since Aug. 16. Gregory V. Varnado, 42, of Lawrence County, was reported missing by his wife and hasn’t been seen since Aug. 14.

[...]

Everett said officially there is no connection between the burned-out vehicle/murder case and the missing person case. That connection will not be made unless DNA tests confirm the body found in the car is that of Varnado. Because of the condition of the car, it has not been fully established that it is the same vehicle Varnado was in when he disappeared.

[...]

The discovery marks the most significant development in the search for Varnado, who the Mississippi Department of Public Safety said was last seen at Verious Lewis. Lane east of Monticello.

His family members, many of them from Pike County, said Varnado was last seen at city hall and had recently lost his city job.
