Is the letter that JC sent to her niece while (I think) she was in the Women's Shelter appropriate for discussion? It was posted on the approved FB page, I believe.(?) I'm wondering because it really is the only insight we have into JC from JC herself.

Has there been any information on how serious the head injury was?

FindHG, thank you for tweaking the pics. Both of those Seats are reclined well past the point where I would be comfortable when driving. In smaller pics, I didn't notice just how far back the driver's side seat was.

Good point. If she was outside the car, standing, how do you suppose the perp got her to stand still for that? Wouldn't she have run? Or do you suppose there were two perps?

I don't know why exactly or have no way of knowing for sure, of course, but with the information so far, it seems to me that there was one perp who was in the car with her from before and then escaped on foot, who knew the area, and knew of a good means of escape at that spot with the back dirt roads and paths back to the streets, so familiar with the area, but in rush to get away. That he doused her in the drivers seat since it is the one that is less burned, and as much as he could the inside of the car, lit a match and closed the doors. The burned area around her car is pretty limited and any accelerant would have run down and onto the foliage which it seems not have done. The most burn or smoke damage is in the front by the engine by the tree. Her feet were not burned so she may have been able to get out of the car before the fire moved to the engine.

FindHG--

Are you able to tell anything about the key position? Do you think it is on, off, or impossible to tell?

It looks impossible to tell (for me) in the images provided.

I wanted to add also in addressing the accident theory that the U.S. Marshalls added $10,000 more to the reward for information on her murder. as far as I can tell, they are treating this as a murder.

Not to mention, the DA, having seen the autopsy and crime scene, is calling it a homicide.

Ok, I'm going to go on the assumption that accelerant was used because Champion has been quoted as saying it was used as documented in multiple MSM articles. That leads me to ask...how much accelerant would it take to do the damage that we see in those pictures? I don't think we have any confirmation on what type of accelerant was used other than lighter fluid being mentioned at the very beginning (when rumors were rampant) if we can assume an accelerant WAS used, is it likely that someone is just carrying this around? I have a zippo lighter, but I don't carry my fluid around with me. i do think it is likely that lighter fluid could be purchased at the gas station.

FindHG, this, IMO is unprecedented. I've never in my life seen 7 reporters/investigators dispatched. One or two, yes. But 7? I hope they get to the bottom of this or find some people willing to speak off-camera. I know people are scared, but this community deserves justice. Jessica Chambers deserves justice.

Yep, I agree, Cady.

This was premeditated imo.

I was thinking along these premeditated lines & it brought me back to Jessica getting more gas than usual.
I'm speculating that it was part of the setup.
I'm no arsonist but I would guess more gas in a car would make for a bigger explosion/destruction of evidence. Not sure how much difference $5 vs $14 would make...but if they know she usually runs on empty, they could've made up a story about going somewhere so she'd fill up more.

Anyone else leaning towards more than one person involved?
Escaping through the woods on foot seems tough. Unless they followed her in a car & rammed it...

She's gotta have DNA evidence under her nails. Waiting patiently for autopsy...

If there was an explosion in the front of the car , would the force lay the seats down possibly ? OR if the handle on side of seat that operates the seat got hot/ melted, might they have fallen back because the mechanism was not operational anymore? Trying to figure out if they were actually put in the down position on purpose by a person. tia

It has crossed my mind that the accelerant could have been charcoal lighter fluid. Everyone automatically thinks of cigarette lighter fluid with the term 'lighter fluid' but it made me wonder if a cookout was going on at the party and charcoal lighter fluid was used. Truly this is not something one carries around in their car, but it's a possibility.

All along my assumption was charcoal lighter fluid. I have never smoked so I don't think cigarette lighter fluid. Not even sure I knew that existed lol! I guess if I thought about it, I would be able to realize it does exist ;). Anyway, I have purchased charcoal lighter fluid in a convenience store before.

Like everyone else, I want to see justice done in this case and AFAIK, no one has ruled out a malfunction of the car's fuel system. I read on an earlier thread that other years of her car model had been recalled for a similar problem. A friend of mine is about to lease a Kia for her high school age daughter so I'm a little nervous about all of this.

Has anyone seen or heard of NTSB investigators being seen in the area? Would they be the agency who would investigate if it was believed this was a mechanical malfunction or design flaw?

Very interesting theory... mechanical malfunction. She put more gas in the car than usual. Maybe there was a leak in the gas tank above where she usually filled it. Maybe what the ER doctor thought was fuel poured into her mouth and nose was actually inhaled fumes.

The fire marshal should be able to figure out where and how the fire started. The coroner should be able to determine what was in her nose and throat. We just have to wait for official information.

There was somebody up thread who had asked somebody with some knowledge of car fires what the case may have been with the fire and effects on the seat. They were told that the mechanism for the seats are made of metal parts and most likely the seats would of have to have been put down prior to the fire.
Zool, this is the best I can do on dash enlargements, from here:http://whbq.images.worldnow.com/images/6168535_G.jpg

I'm not sure what to think about this case. I do commend some of you for looking at the store clerk as being somewhat suspicious. I didn't see that but now I'm leaning in that direction.

I'm not really a Twitter or Facebook kinda guy, it just isn't me but I did read an article about the hacking group "Anonymous".

It seems ANONYMOUS has jumped on board this case and opened a TWITTER account named "operationjessicac"...and we all know Anonymous doesn't play.

This is good news. Based on some non-MSM stuff that has been posted and I've read, my thought was that this case might be a job for that group. Sadly.

If you notice in the pictures of her car linked below, the gas flap is open. Maybe the perp siphoned out the gas? Either way, the autopsy should give better information as to the type of accelerant, but it also seems possible that the the perp made an effort to kindle the fire with the way the shrubs and foliage are in the car and around it.
