What is the date of this article? I thought this was from December 7th or so as they mentioned that her funeral would be held "next Saturday".

You are correct: the last sentence implies that it is the old article from Dec. 9, 2014. I guess I immediately assumed that it was an updated version. I am therefore going to delete my earlier remark about the affidavit. Thanks.

The "latest updated" Panolian article is dated January 2, 2015 and can be seen here (with luck). It is titled "Ongoing search for killer" by Rupert Howell.

A quick summary details Sheriff Darby's remarks about various agencies looking into cellphone records. The article begins: "Just because the news media has gone away, don't think investigators aren't still diligently working on finding the murderer(s) of Jessica Chambers Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby said earlier this week..."

In regards to no real leads from talk/chatter going around Panola County (DA Champion) it always reminds me that 2 can keep a secret if one of them is dead. Seems to me that it would be impractical that a group of people hated Jessica so much that they would murder her/set her afire alive. Or even if they thought she was dead. I am (at least for now) going to back up to the beginning and look at this as a 1 perp crime. Not popular but very possible. I'm especially intrigued by the idea that fake LE followed her, she got nervous and finally pulled over and it went from there. Sad to realize it is very common. Will try to post links of such later. I do know the I55 series of shootings in that area were first thought to be the work of a poser LE but later on a single man was charged and whether he ever used that technique was not proven.
This is a short roundabout way on the map showing Loves, Carlisle (JC's home) + Herron Road:
https://maps.yahoo.com/directions/?... Stop, 725 Highway 35 N, Batesville, MS 38606
Really not that difficult to consider a possibility.

I have found 4 arrests for him. 2 in 2008, 1 in 2010 and 2011.
all non-violent.

recent address in 2011 is right by a lake north of enid lake. they must not live there still or it'd be easier to fish at the lake near home than Enid.
BUT, the address listed is 22 miles from Courtland, possible reason for extra gas purchase? going somewhere?

See May 7th, 2009 for another arrest for DV. http://www.panolian.com/contentitem/134653/1180/panola-county-arrest-log

Entered a plea of guilty for DV and fined. http://www.panolian.com/editionview...fba&Page=791b7a92-b6ef-4e47-8a1b-c940054412b4

JMO somewhat jaded opinion

Oh, I definitely think a one perp crime is possible. I agree about the secret-keeping. This was so heinous that if multiple people were involved, at least one would have to have a conscience and be wracked with guilt. I know I couldn't go on "as usual" if I had anything to do with this crime...even if it was as an accessory after the fact.

I for one think more than one person is involved in what happened to JC. I also think it was done to cover up a crime that had been committed against her prior to the fire.
Let's say she was raped....if these guys left DNA on or in her body...I could see that as being a reason to set her body on fire, kwim?
I still believe that the car was set on fire because these guys were in her car before they killed her.
I also believe that JC did tell them who had done this but....she didn't know she only knew these guys by their aliases/street names. So her identification of the murderer/s is of no use. The name or names that she gave are not their government names.
And with every fiber of my being, I believe Auntie Sha-Sha knows the WHO, WHAT, WHERE and things "went too far"

JMO though

Not knowing if DNA evidence exists is particularly frustrating. If they were able to get that, it gives me hope that this will one day be solved. I know Mister mentioned that he was swabbed, so that may be a good sign, or it could be something that was done for future reference. I'm also wondering if anyone disappeared/left town after this. Is there anyone they are looking to question that they cannot find?

The date on the top of the page shows January 6. It does appear to be something that is old due to it mentioning funeral arrangements. I am assuming that it is an older article that was updated, but I am not certain. I sent an email to the publisher, who's name is also linked to this article a few minutes ago. I asked if he could clarify on whether or not this is an article that has been recently updated. If I get a response from him, I will post it.

You may very well be correct, but Sha-Sha said on camera that she would take a lie detector test. She volunteered. We have no idea if she has, but she was willing to and LE might have done one. If they were suspicious that she was lying/not telling all she knew, wouldn't they take her up on the offer?
:moo:

It seems to me that she could not have been afraid of where she was going after buying gas, or she wouldn't have gone there. I think that she was lured to someplace where someone she wanted to see was. I think that she was lured by the prospect of seeing someone. WHO? Was it someone who was out of jail for the weekend? A new relationship? An old relationship?.... If it was unfinished business from what she had been up to prior to her Christian retreat hiatus, it is likely that it was not GOOD business. If it was to settle a dispute, she would have known that she was in danger. What was she planning to do or see that diverted her from her plan? Or was the plan just to divert her mother from thinking anything nefarious was going on? 20 minutes is a long time to talk to Mom, if she had just left the house and was returning in an hour or so. I think there may have been a bit of an argument between them, in that 20 minute call. JMO

During my street days I hung around gang members, thugs, even had some in my family. It wasn't uncommon for the guys to be called names other than their government names...usually it was females that didn't know their real names for obvious reasons.

During my days the most common aliases given were Mike, Tony, and Eric....probably because those names were so generic, kwim?
IMO this is one of the reasons LE is having a hard time following up on the lead given by JC herself.

They need to haul in the females and question them about guys in the area going by the name "ERIC".
It may be that LE is actively searching for a man whose legal name is Eric....and if they are they are never going to find out who did this.

That's assuming the people involved have a conscience. You and posters here have one. Jessica's murder could serve as a warning to anyone who might think about opening their mouths.

I'm still of the opinion that someone drove her there after an event/altercation at a previous location. I'm wondering if JC was in the habit of using her parking brake or if tow truck driver set it if it was even functional after the fire. He wouldn't need to set it if the car was chained/strapped down but its not evident in the store photo that it is.

This could have been a planned murder from the start but I'm not sure that it was. I can see the fire being sort of a horrific and yes psychotic afterthought to something that happened earlier in order to not bring the heat upon those that witnessed or participated in the earlier event.

My guess at potential motives in no particular order are, elimination of witness, jealous acquaintance or angry/jealous GF of acquaintance, someones belief that she was potential threat to their livelihood, someones anger at her for the company she kept, random sexual assault/murder. I'm going with more than one person involved

I've seen murders in small towns like this go cold very quickly and stay that way. If they are at this point in this case, now might be a good time to play the immunity card and announce that publicly. Sooner or later someone will talk and the first person to spill will get the best deal.

I'm not sure....hell maybe she thinks she's smart enough to beat a lie detector test. What if she did take one and failed....might be a reason to book her....hoping she would come clean...idk

MDOC collects DNA of inmates who committed violent felonies. Can fingerprints and/or DNA survive a fire?

Someone with no conscience can beat a lie detector test. As far as looking at all of the theories being presented, I don't tend to rule out any motive anyone on here has mentioned. No matter how off the beaten path they may seem. I try to give all of the various theories flying around the same consideration. Because we just don't know. There have been some nasty crimes committed for very strange reasons. Helter Skelter was enough to convince a jury. Skylar Neese was killed because two high school "friends" just didn't like her. I don't pretend to understand why people do the things they do. But I enjoy reading some of the theories and it will be interesting if one of them ends up panning out.

In my search efforts, It seems I have found a gazillion Erics, Derrecks, and names in and around Courtland that could sound like one of those.

I thought someone mentioned earlier a case where fire actually preserved semen? Anyone recall?

Or, she did not really say anything, and "eric" was SAID to be a name that she gurgled, precisely BECAUSE it is such a generic (pardon the pun) name..... all of the names ending in"eric(K) so, far, that we have seen belong to black locals. It can never be proven that she did NOT speak, but, if she did, it was only Cole Hayley who heard her, as far as we know. JMO
