I too see Kaila as attacked by her stepfather.
IMO.
He saw her at her car. (decided to attack her there)
He heard her voice but could not make out what she was saying. (while the struggle went on)
He heard a car drive up. (15 min. after Kaila 'left'..he heard the best friend's car coming)

I hope LE has checked her car for forensic evidence. And his car. And the house.
And since it seems there was a computer there, mom uses fb, he is caught with child *advertiser censored* on the comptuer, then hope LE checked all log in's on that date.
 
I drove to the area today where I had that eerie experience of Kaila being out there in a field, and where I still pick up that feeling, and where this particular spot is, is approx. 1/2 mile give or take a little, south of the bridge on hwy 45 that has the Monroe County/Lowndes County line marker. The field, and the area, where this affected me as I drove past, is in Lowndes County, and is a farm with cattle. It is just north of the sand and gravel pits and Cal-Kola store on 45, if you're looking at the map according to the correct N-S-E-W direction, with Columbus South and Tupelo North. There is a road on the opposite side of the highway that has the word Ferry in it, so perhaps it is an offshoot road linking to Barton's Ferry Rd from what I can see on the map, and then leads on to the Air Base. That is NOT the side of the road where I felt she was. It is the opposite side of the road, and going out into those fields, in a northeast direction, which leads to a good distance across of several miles perhaps, from what I can tell on the map, a road that has the same name as the road I was told the truck incident happened. Only thing is, looking on this google map, the Road I was told about the truck incident, is more toward Columbus, and this road, with the same name, has an additional name to it, and is in Caledonia area. North of this area, you have Monroe County, and two more bridges. This forms three bridges in a row, then you have more sand and gravel pits.

If I remember correctly, across the highway from the area where this field is that made me think she was out there, there is a sign that says Parker Gravel. It is the field across from that sign , on the opposite side of the highway, where I got those feelings that she was out there.

Google map is incorrect, by the way, on the location of Cal-Kola store. It sits on the Caledonia/Kolola Springs rd., at this fork there off of hwy 45. Google map has it further north, at a road that dead ends. It doesn't. There's two main roads and one leads into Caledonia.

It is my understanding Kaila's mom's house is toward Caledonia, from what I've now been told.

Also, dreamweaver, you suggested the stepfather was possibly giving clues away in his speech, which is what I also feel. Remember how he distinctly remembered that Kaila was going just across the Alabama line to a friend's house? Well this direction I'm telling you, where this field is, and going northeast, just a couple of miles, will put you into Alabama.

trying to simplify this with my directions, but the area where I feel this about Kaila, is above (north of) Cal-Kola store in Lowndes, and below (south of) flower farm road and the gravel pits in Monroe County. It is south of the three bridges in a row where Lowndes and Monroe County Line sign is and is in Lowndes, but the field past it is where I feel she is, and at an angle, so might be Monroe COunty. Either way, it leads toward Alabama.

Thank you for being so clear where you feel Kaila could be.

I am wondering how many years the stepfather would get for a
conviction on having explicit photos of children on his computer.
I just googled it and the conviction and sentence vary greatly,
up to 30 years.

My thought was if the stepfather was convicted,
and the sentence was 50 years or so,
maybe the state would give him immunity from the
MS death penalty in exchange for his confession
and telling where Kaila is.
 
I am from Columbus and it is sad there is not much going on to find Kaila. I see a few signs around town but that is about all. No organized searches that I know of...
I do know that her mother's family owns a LOT of land in Lowndes county. I wonder how much of that land the step-father is familiar with. Most of the land is very desolate and there is alot of it. It is scattered all around the county and from what I know there are numerous places to dispose of a body. The mother's home is south of Columbus down hwy 69. I would lean more toward that area. I hope LE has found out about all of the land they own and search those areas.
 
this whole story is terrible, but sadly typical of step-parent/step-child abuse, worse than abuse she most likely is no longer with us :( it just really sickens me to think that the kaila is missing/possibly dead , the step-father is awaiting trial for kiddie *advertiser censored* and the mother still does not seem to be able to admit that this scum bag of a human could be responsible and even if it could be proven that he didnt have anything to do with this he is still going to trial for kiddie *advertiser censored*! why would she want him??? wth? the record that he has with the rape charges too would have me moving on down the road for a divorce for sure! pathetic...
 
Kaila is a good person. I don't know what happened to her but I pray that if someone hurt her that they get what they deserved.

We miss her and love her. I just want answers. Solid facts. I'm sooooo sick of theories and rumors that float around Columbus. Everyone thinks they know what happened. But they don't. It is just frustrating that we don't have any leads.

Greetings, lwal8705! Fellow Mississippian here. I'm terribly sorry for the pain you must be going through with Kaila's disappearance. I sense your frustration, and wish there was something more we could do to help bring Kaila home. Please feel free to share any thoughts that may get sluethers' minds headed in the right direction. Her friends and family are in my prayers. Please let me know if there is something I can do from down here near the Coast.

The mother of a Columbus woman missing since Sept. 17 feels the official search for her daughter has ended, but Lowndes County Sheriff's Office authorities say they're still looking for Kaila Morris.
Morris, 21, was last seen by her stepfather, Robert Warren Triplett Jr., leaving the house he shared with her mother, Bonnie Morris Triplett, at 181 Golding Road.

"To be honest, they've stopped searching," Bonnie Triplett, who was vacationing in Florida when Morris disappeared, said Monday. "I don't know anything new and I can't tell you anything new. I feel that there are other properties that need searching using the cadaver dogs, but I have not been able to arrange that yet.

"I'm getting a lot of support from the people in the community wanting to do things to help, but the official search seems to be at a standstill at this time," she added.

"We still haven't had much of a lead on it," said LCSO Investigator Tony Perkins of the Morris case. "We haven't had any breaks in it. We're still looking."

Perkins noted authorities still are searching with dogs specially trained in the detection of human remains. "We'd be glad for anybody with any kind of information (on Morris) to give us a call," he said, adding, "very, very few tips have come in."

A part-time Mississippi State University student, who owned a Starkville condominium, Morris also worked at The Cookie Store in Leigh Mall.

Robert Triplett Jr. said he saw Morris leave the Golding Road home Sept. 17, in a dark-colored van or sport utility vehicle with an unknown person or people.

Robert Triplett, 56, this month pleaded not guilty to child *advertiser censored* charges in U.S. District Court.

He was arrested by the LCSO Oct. 3 on charges of exploitation of children after pornographic images of minors were retrieved from family computers during the course of the investigation into Morris' disappearance; his trial is scheduled for Feb. 1 in Oxford.

DISPATCH STAFF REPORT
The trial of a Lowndes County man arrested on child *advertiser censored* charges during an investigation into his missing stepdaughter has been continued.

Robert Warren Triplett Jr., 56, of 181 Golding Road, earlier pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court to charges of activities regarding materials constituting or containing child *advertiser censored*.

His trial initially was scheduled for Feb. 1 in Oxford before Chief Justice Mike Mills, but now has been rescheduled for April 12, according to court documents.

Kaila's stepfather, who was the last person to see her, has had his probation revoked and has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for it. He still has a pending trial for the child *advertiser censored* charges. The trial will start June 28th. Kaila has still not been found, hopefully that's something he will have to answer to eventually if he were involved in her disappearance. All the best to her loved ones. I wish there were more media coverage of her disappearance. Let's keep this thread as active as possible, at least with updates.

I was hoping there was some new news about Kaila's case.

All I could find is a recent article her step fathers case for the child *advertiser censored* (allegedly) found on his computer has been rescheduled for August 30th.

This has been posted before.
But I am struck by the fact that Kaila is described as very shy, a homebody, a voracious reader.
She had her own condo with her stepbrother.
She went to school part time.
She had a job.
She had her own car. She liked to be the one to drive.
She had a dog.

She is visiting her mom's house. Her car is parked in front of the garage.
Step father says right before he went into the bathroom,
he says he saw Kaila rummaging in the right side of her car.
Her purse was found in her car. Her wallet was in the house.
He says he 'heard' Kaila talking, but not the words.
But he did 'see' the van.
Her best friend shows up 15 min. after she supposedly leaves in the van, looking for Kaila.
There is no cell phone reception at the house.
Contact with best friend through FB, but no talk of Kaila coming over to bf's house that day.

Mom, who is on vacation in Florida, talks with best friend through FB the next day and find no one has seen Kaila after she was said to have left in a van.

This seems fairly straightforward to me.

I look at a person's statements. Usually there is a ring of truth in there.
(Think of Casey A saying 'I know she's close.' And she certainly was.)

Did anyone catch it was mentioned in the article she never took her step father to visit the friend of which she was the childs godmother? It was almost a deliberate message Kaila visited the friend with various family members but never her step father.

Also, her step father mentions:

Who backs up into a friends driveway unless they are loading or unloading something from an SUV or Van? It sounds like step dad gave bits of truth in what HE did to/with Kaila to help him keep some details of his facts straight.

Not even much media information on the searches done for Kaila. I wish some locals would revisit this thread and share what they know about the searches.

In my dream, she kept referring to her best friend, wanting to let her know something, but I couldn't make sense of it. Had to do with a butterfly and glass. Butterfly under glass. I don't know. But she kept appearing, and maybe that's just me from worrying about her even though I don't even know her, or maybe she really wants to be found for the sake of her family and friends.

I don't know if PGW still reads this thread but something came to mind when I read her comments about the butterfly and a glass jar. It may mean nothing with regards to her dream or this case, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

There is another missing persons case here at WS where a 'butterfly' is part of the case. This is the missing persons case for Janice Pockett who went missing way across the country from Connecticut in 1973 and at the age of 7. She reportedly went to retrieve a butterfly she left under a rock but never returned. It occured to me perhaps this dream meant to look at something about Janice's case. Maybe search efforts, or the efforts Janice's family has taken, or the efforts WS member have taken.... Or perhaps those thoughts might help you better understand the message in your dream.

In questioning by the FBI, Triplett admitted to "inappropriately touching" Morris, Rickert testified, noting Triplett said he had "massaged her," while she was topless, and "pulled her sleeping shorts down, exposing the tops of her buttocks" to "massage her upper thighs."
Cheatham said Triplett told investigators his wife was present at some of the massages, but she was absent during others.

Additionally, he said Triplett told investigators he would "turn away" when Morris removed her shirt, although he admitted to kissing her "on the lips" at least twice.

When, the second time he kissed her, "it appeared she did not like it," Triplett said he stopped and did not repeat the action again, Cheatham testified.


What is wrong with people??? OMG...Massaged her while she was topless??
 
Butterfly under glass. She was the butterfly under the glass! He was examining and admiring bits and pieces of her, and she was caught under the glass, imprisoned! She must have said that to someone out there! There's got to be another person who knows about her stepfather molesting her.

Remember that when her stepfather began seeing her mom, she was much younger, and she was out of their house by college, when she had the condo, so the inappropriate touching with her would have been when she was underage. She was around 14 when her mother married him, wasn't she?

He should be put away for life, no body or not. He's going to not reveal that.

Why would he not reveal that and work for a plea?

One answer. She's not the only dead victim out there. If they run his dna, will they find matches to other unsolved crimes and bodies?

Thinking aloud here, please accept my apologies for this, but he obviously is a sadist, when you read the case about what he did to the woman he tied up with rope and raped. Then to victimize his step-daughter with inappropriate touching in the presence of his wife and her mother, another sadistic act, toward both of them.

There have been several young girls, and young women found dead in Columbus. One was found by the railroad tracks, after being missing for a few months, and her body was dumped there but she had been killed elsewhere, according to people I know from there. She was a sweet girl, not a kid with a record or anything. Disappeared while walking.

Before that, about 10 years back or more, a serial killer was on the loose in Columbus, and that killer tied up most of his victims. Most of his victims were older women, all within a certain area. He tied them up with phone cords and panty hose.

So that's a guy who likes to tie up and then kill after assaulting.

I think they better run the DNA of Kaila's stepfather, and reopen a few cases in the area.

He's so slick as a talker that he had his wife convinced that he was innocent of rape in the other case and it was her money that set him free. Had he gone on to jail, her daughter would be alive. It's not her fault, but doesn't that show you the depth of his coldness? That he felt not a sense of anything toward the family that helped him from being put away in prison, but instead kept a sadistic agenda toward the child of the mother who actually believed him, loved him, and did what she could to help him. He's capable of doing anything to anybody. He has no heart, and he's in so deep, he can't reveal anything. I pray God brings justice for Kaila, and does so quickly.
 
He must think they are about to find her, or close to finding her. Why else would he go ahead and admit he massaged her, unless he's afraid they'll find her and his fingerprints will be on her clothes and his dna, etc.. Then he's legitimized his touching of her by saying his wife had witnessed him massaging her. So then his story becomes "but before she left in the van, she asked me to massage her, like I always did." etc. etc.

Very odd a man facing charges on child *advertiser censored* on his computer offers up that he massaged her, inappropriately, and even offered about pulling down her shorts to massage her thighs. He thinks she's going to be found and his fingerprints and dna are going to be all over her shorts and lower torso?

Apology for the theory, but this man has lied his way all around violent rape cases and everything else. Never offered anything by way of the truth in those cases. Consistently insisted he was innocent! Now he's offering "truth" that can also put him away in prison, a place he was determined not to go. Very odd he offers all this.
