She might have been escaping something. But I get the feeling that she feared being caught. Remember, she was about to retire and turn the books over to someone else.[/quote]

Are you talking about the Bess woman taking her place? Are we sure that is the reason... because I did wonder why we were told that. I was thinking as a back up or that she was taking over now that LR had been caught. The article didn't say, but you could be right. Just strange to me that someone would only work 5-6 mo and then announce they're retiring. Now I'm wondering if she was ill? That never occurred to me before. ?? Why Longview?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the only time I ever heard that there was no money missing was what I read here from someone who said they were a family member, as well as her husband stated in interviews that one of the Moore's told him that nothing was missing. I have never read or heard that LE stated that.

The first day that she was missing, LE did say that she had disappeared and they hoped it was a case of dementia. Very early into it, LE basically quit searching as if she was a missing person, TX equusearch came in and community volunteers searched, but LE was not searching as if she was a victim of foul play. The few times they spoke out, they said they did not believe she was a victim of foul play and that they thought she was still close by. The family believed she was abducted. The family was pressing for them to continue searching. Does LE have to tell her family and friends that they believe she had embezzled and faked her kidnapping? How do they know someone in her family isn't helping her?

I do understand why her family was upset more wasn't being done to find her, they believed she was a victim. I also see why LE was quiet.

Still no news or new info. LE still says she is a missing person and thhat there is no missing money. I apologize I haven't updated the last few days. Just going through a tough time. We would like to thank you all again got your continued prayers for Linda and our family. It means so much to know that people haven't forgotten her. I can not thank you enough.

This post states that according to LE, no missing money. So why lie about something when earlier on it was reported there was missing money. What's the point? Maybe LE just gets a charge out of confusing the public including, maybe especially, us sleuths. Also see no reason for helpfindlinda to report this if it didn't really happen as it would eventually come out. Which goes back to LE contradicting themselves and being deceptive. I see what you're saying, but IMO being quiet and being deceptive are not the same thing.

I can't wait for the whole story to come to light. This is just terrible! I would be relieved to find out my mother was alive, but I'd be so mad at her! Can you imagine what they are going through? All of us here in the Carroll County, Mississippi area are just SHOCKED. Relieved she is alive, but SHOCKED that she would do this.

It's still hard to believe that I was so wrong on this one. Here I was thinking she was being railroaded and she's in Texas telling everyone that she was escaping from an abusive X and her children had disowned her while they were here searching and wondering where she was. You could just blow me over with a feather. I'd have never thunk it. Curious as a cat to hear the whole story come out.

I was out of state when this broke and got a call letting me know that LR had been arrested. It just so happens that I was with some people from Carrollton. They speak very highly of the family member they know. We are still scratching our heads.

I am waiting on the other shoe to drop.

Linda's scent was in the abandoned vehicle and on the blanket but no scent trail was on ground from the vehicle to the blanket or to the road. So who is the accomplice? She either picked someone up or they walked home.

Obviously she left with bananas and tea and knew how this would be enough to get her to her destination. I am sure LE knows who recommended her for the TX jobs and asked that no background check be made.

It is interesting that her destination is about 1 hour from the Shreveport casinos.

The partial tooth, the reading glasses (not hers), the phone left behind....knowing what we know now....sure seems planned out.

I could see how a big business could possibly not notice $20,000 missing in the big scheme of things but the amount they are now tooting (according to that news video) I do not see happening without being noticed so I am going to have to sit on the fence until more info comes out.

Seems to me like she was set up to take this fall.

Blackmail? Coverup? Greed? Protecting her family?

I am having a hard time coming up with a reason or amount of money one would be willing to leave their family behind and live out their elder years without them.

All JMO.

JMO but I don't think LE was trying to confuse the public but trying to give someone a false sense of security.

Whatever the case, seems like a cruel thing to do to mislead and give false hope (by claiming there was no money missing) to the family that way, jmo. Especially if they knew she was alive.

I think if we had verification at some point that a large enough amount of money was taken for LR to live out the rest of her life comfortably, that we would have been on the right track. We were told no money then $20,000. Neither of those would convince me of anything other than foul play.

Even now that we know it was larger. Why did she not run further? Why did she get 2 jobs using her own name and SSN? Was she waiting on someone? Did someone else have the money?

I have lots of questions. Who got her this job? It looks like she has gained some weight but she didn't even change her hair color. Why did she think she was safe that close to home?

I agree she felt her creative bookkeeping was nearing the end and left, but she could also be escaping something/ someone unknown at this point. The only reason I can think she wouldn't contact family is it's family she's running from, or someone close to them, or protecting them?

Do you have link to article saying she was going to retire? The one I have says shes's a contract worker training someone? I'm sure I missed something along the way though...been here sporadically... Or did you mean training someone in MS?

I don't think there is a working link talking about her retirement, however, when she initially went missing, family listed one of the reasons she wouldn't have run off as she was about to retire. It was also publshed that she was due to start training her replacement at Moore's soon because she would be retiring in August.....I think I am remembering that correctly. One of the things people were speculating here is that she was running because she knew that her embezzlement would be uncovered in August.

Interesting article. Landlord referred Linda to car dealership for bookkeeping job. Per the article, Linda has been renting the apt in Texas for OVER a year. ....hmmm... Incorrect? Or weekend trips to Texas?

Interesting, indeed.

Walton said he hired Reed as a contract worker and wouldn't have reported her wages to the IRS until the end of the year.

"She was doing a wonderful job," Walton said. "She was very quiet and kept to herself and had money problems. She never ate out. She brought her lunch every day. The car she was in wasn't in very good shape and she borrowed some money against her check go get it fixed a couple of times. She was very thrifty."

Well....this should be interesting.

Ok seriously now, something is just not jiving. Moore said she was a wonderful employee. This quote is from early in the investigation regarding her MS job by her MS employer
http://www.wlbt.com/story/17942601/copiah-county-woman-missing
"She is always prompt and is a faithful worker. It is out of character for her not to show up for work," said Moore Fabrication and Machine owner Shannon Moore.

TX job/employer

It is 6-1/2 hrs one way from Carrolton to Longview. It is 5 hrs one way from Gallman to Longview.

She reportedly was prompt and regular to work during the week, went to Carrollton on the weekends (2 hrs from Gallman to Carrollton), often went to her grandkids ballgames, saw about her mother in Philadelphia (doesn't matter if she went from Gallman or Carrollton - it is approximately 2 hrs one way).

So exactly when did LR have time to be living in Longview TX? Certainly not during the week and unless she was regularly missing on weekends and nobody has told us, she was accounted for on the weekends also.

She can't be all these place with this much driving time in between. Does she have a twin?

Also, concerning the petty cash sum being so large - It just came to me over the weekend that when I worked in a bank years ago some businesses had designated "petty cash" accounts, separate from their primary accounts. So it possibly was a bank account she wrote checks on versus actual cash kept in the office.

I worked for a huge company and the account never had anywhere near $20K in it. I remember once a maintenance man was totally embarrassed because a piece of equipment was down and they figured a douche bag would surfice until the next day for the piece needed to come in. LOL The guy was mortified to have to go out and buy it.

Just because she was a tenant for a year, doesnt have to mean she stayed there. Only says she was paying rent. Sounds to me this woman just had this planned, and knew she wouldnt be able to secure any housing after she was *missing*, so she did so before hand. As to the car she was in .... has to be she told family it had been sold, and then she just stored it in the storage place. Otherwise, the family would have been saying a car is missing along with mommy. In my opinion, LR just took what she could, when she could, from Moores, year to year .... probably is no stash of cash, she just spent it. Call it giving herself a raise, or bonus. She has some mental issues, no doubt about it ... but she knew what she was doing and what it would mean and do to others.

<modsnip>

Maybe when the landlord said a year ... he meant that she had a one year lease, not that she had already lived there a year?
Dunno, too much contradicting info!!
