Curious, are we sure the address for Gregory is 1023 Washington and not 1203? (from the maps link)

1023 has a picnic table, lawn swing, 2 outbuildings out back, tons of firewood and 3 vehicles. All a bit excessive for a single man living alone.

1203 has a single, white Toyota Camry in the drive and a massive 2 car garage.

Watching the video here http://www.nbcmontana.com/news/sear...arance-of-mother-son-from-deer-lodge/36278610 it shows 1203 Washington at the 1:08 mark.

Also looking at that video (and checking google street view) , Beverly's home has a single, attached garage and an additional 2 car garage. Likely not important but just something I noticed.

The post linked below states Greg lived at #1203:

It also says it appeared Beverly had been going thru things at her house fwiw

Beverly sorting through things makes sense, since she was planning on moving to her late husband's house. According to MSM reports, anyway. I still find that bizarre as well, that she'd choose to move that far from all the conveniences of town and into a 4 bedroom ranch home, at her age.

As others I'm still puzzled why LE would leave the phone in Greg's house when they went there first. It really is a shame this happened as it might have held some clues to what happened.

Hmm... hadn't seen this before:

Deer Lodge police also said both Giannonattis cell phones have been powered off for several days. The last pings came from an Anaconda cell tower. Beverly's phone had a ping on October 31 and Gregory’s had two pings on November 1.

Anaconda cell towers: http://www.cellreception.com/towers/towers.php?city=anaconda&state_abr=mt

Those towers are 25 miles south of Deer Lodge. Now I know cell tower pings can't pinpoint actual location, but at the very least Beverly and Gregory's PHONES were close enough to one of those towers on 10/31-11/01 to bounce a signal off.

bbm - and that after being off and turned back on, if I understand the LE quote correctly.

Such a puzzling case! :gaah:

an incoming call was received on Beverly’s phone on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 11:32 p.m.
http://mtstandard.com/news/local/fo...cle_6ce64fc5-bcbb-5444-bbc0-51e99524386e.html

After watching the video here where the family friend said Beverly didn't show up for Halloween like she was expected, I'm guessing that last incoming call to Beverly's phone was likely this friend. http://www.nbcmontana.com/news/sear...arance-of-mother-son-from-deer-lodge/36278610 (This friend did post on FB about what she found when she went to Beverly's house when she went to check on her after she didn't show for Halloween)

And the above link states Beverly's phone pinged on the same date off a cell tower in Anaconda - 25 miles south. Not looking good. :(

That article says those were the last pings from their phones. I'm assuming they've both been turned off or had the batteries removed since then.

Thanks for the heads up. I updated the map to show the correct address.

I've also added Anaconda to the map, which is where the tower is that their cell phones pinged from. Note that Anaconda is only about 20-25 miles south of Deer Lodge, so town could be in the coverage area of that cell phone tower. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z2VLvG6QAl8U.km_CVNXGQfTE&usp=sharing

Not even sure I can say this (so if not, please remove) but the friend who went to check on her Halloween night has a comment on her page that another friend saw her at McDonalds with the unknown man - not Muriah's like all the MSM are saying.

Oh I see  I thought it was the other way round - they had been off, then turned back on and then pinged.

Okay this way it makes much more sense. Thank you for clarifying!

I agree it doesn't look very good.

Sorry I'm late to the party on this case.....just stumbled across it a few minutes ago. I would've tried and solved this back on page one if I'd known about it sooner. Everybody can relax now though......I'm here.

First of all, there's this from 11/03/15:

Powell County Sheriff Scott Howard has obtained both of their phone records. Although both phones appeared to be turned off most of the time, Beverly’s was used on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 11:32 p.m. and Gregory’s was used Sunday, Nov. 1, at 9:14 p.m. and at 11:39 p.m., but the sheriff doesn’t know at this time whether the two individuals made the calls.

Question: Why can they get this done in a matter of a couple of days in some cases, but we're told many times that there are privacy issues and so that information is unavailable until and if a court order is issued ??

Then we have this:

One of Gregory’s cars was found at his father’s house on Beck Hill, north of Deer Lodge, which house Beverly was having remodeled after Gregory's father's death prior to her moving back in, but nothing appeared unusual, Howard said.

Great.......how many cars does he have ? Any of them missing ?

He said Beverly Giannonatti’s home was locked, but her dogs were inside. The same was true at her son’s home; his dogs were inside and he had food cooking in a slow cooker. Both individuals are private people without a lot of contact with folks, Howard said.

This guy wasn't planning on being gone long, not if he's got food cooking in the slow cooker.

Now let's go here:

It was Wednesday, October 28 at Muriah's of Montana where Beverly was last seen having lunch with the man police are calling a person of interest. Buck said if Beverly hadn't gone missing, that lunch date wouldn't be much cause for alarm. "You know she didn't seem under pressure or anything but it is shocking.

Police said Gregory was last seen by neighbors speeding away from his house in his white Toyota Camry on the evening of October 28, the same day his mother was last seen.

His car was located at his deceased father's home on Larkspur Road just outside of town. Beverly's car was found parked at her home.

Son gets a call from Mom, rushes over to his late fathers house. Mom was getting a ride with the friend she had lunch with. Son parks car in front of house............now the dark stranger at the restaurant is providing all the transportation.

Get surveillance cameras and figure out what kind of car was being driven by said stranger. This is going to turn out to be an armed robbery through deceptive means. That gold bar has everything to do with it.

The theft afterwards may or may not be related, I suspect it probably isn't. This is the wrong time of the year to publicize that a couple of fully furnished homes are sitting vacant while the owners are being tracked down. You know how the Christmas season seems to always bring out the thieving lowlifes in our society.

I think it's very likely she was being escorted around by someone she was very comfortable with, since she normally liked to drive herself places. A contractor or employee remodeling the house would be my first guess as to who might be behind this.

What like after they disappeared?

Well the two phones pinging from the same tower, tells you one of three things.....Either they are still together.....or the perp took both phones and is or was in that area, or.....they ditched the phones in that area......But why turn them on....so confusing.....IMHO

I agree with most of what you posted, except....even a crack addict will not steal a persons towels, pillows and clothing. Especially an late middle aged man, just don't see it....IMHO

Except, media wasn't even aware they were missing yet, when the break-in happened. LE were there earlier that day, and the break-in call came in late that evening. So, no one knew those homes were empty except possibly the person or persons responsible for them being empty in the first place.

They were obviously interrupted while in the process of stealing things. That's why they just left stuff scattered around. I can relate first hand a story that happened to me just last year.

We have an RV that we keep parked on private land that we use as a getaway spot. The RV was (gently) broken into and what was taken ? Towels, groceries, feminine products, toiletries, blankets, sheets, DVD movies, dishes, pots and pans, dollar store items and appliances.

What was left behind ? A large box of tools, fishing rods and reels, a flat screen TV bolted to the wall, a coffeemaker and all the coffee, a hunting knife, spotlights, automotive parts and accessories, and assorted hardware for making repairs.

As it turns out, there was a Mother/daughter team roaming the area ripping off homes when the owners were away. They were arrested for it later on. Were they crack addicts ? No....just thieves. I guess it's easier to steal other peoples stuff than it is to go get a job.

I guess neither one of them drank coffee............and had no need for tools. It was obvious from the beginning that females had definitely done the stealing. There was hardly any damage at all done while prying the door open, as if very little force was applied.

To go along with your theory though in this case, this may well have been individuals related to the person or persons responsible for this disappearance. Girlfriends of the perps, so to speak. Sounds amateurish, but they would be well aware that the two missing people weren't going to just pop in unannounced.

I think this is going to be tied to the workers that were remodeling this home, one or more of which either heard rumors or talked to the maid that found the gold bar. Her son running off at 10 p.m. never to be seen again could have either been a ruse to get him out to the remodeled house, or a ransom demand with a vow of secrecy.

Hi Steelman, Glad you decided to join the discussion.

To answer your question about the cell phone records. The investigators requested a search warrant/court order for the phone records right away. It took a couple of days for them to get those records.

Any other cars have been accounted for. We don't know how many they have. So there are no cars missing.

The scenario that Mom was given a ride, either willingly or unwillingly, to the father's house and somebody called Greg to have him go there is likely. Hopefully, LE have the phone records to see if this happened. However, if there are landlines at the father's house and Greg's house are phone records available like they are with cell phones?

From the descriptions of her being very independent and preferring to drive herself and both of them being very private people, I don't think she went with whoever it was willingly, unless maybe they told her that Greg was in trouble or something along those lines.

Yes it does sound like Greg left suddenly. If the reports of him being seen leaving his home at 10 pm are true, why did he have a roast cooking at that hour? What was he so busy doing all evening - until 10 pm - that he didn't have time to eat? I wonder if they have been able to track his movements throughout the day.

The robbery attempt could have been unrelated, as you said some criminals take advantage of things they hear to know when a house is vacant. However, why would a burglar attempt to take clothes, towels and pillows? Also the homes are very close to neighbors, so they aren't particularly easy targets for robbery.

And one last comment - this is small town Montana. It is unlikely that there are many security cameras around town.

Anaconda is 25 miles south of Deer Lodge straight down I-90. The main interstate through Montana. Not sure why but something about that is bugging me.
