AND this is exactly where I would tell him to include it! Of all times when he states he got up with a child and tended to her for hours! This is over custody of those children, not the criminal situation he is going to have to address later on!

If there was ever a time he needed to show his love and care for his children it would have been at that moment and stating he got up at 4am!

IMO this a very KEY point that he is wanting to prove to the courts...he wants, tends and deserves his children.

Leaving it out shows he has twisted and lied about his times. This has really hurt him IMO

this is assuming he wanted custody. i don't have enough knowledge to have an opinion, but have gleamed that he seemed to spend little time with the kids prior to April. Also, prior to the end of April, he is said to have been willing for Nancy & the girls to move to Canada.

of course, most of us can't imagine not fighting for custody. i think his problems in July & now are much bigger than custody, and his lawyer's statement of BC being a "mess" (or something similar) was probably very accurate. Might not have interest in custody, and may be totally incapable (emotionally & physically) of providing for the girls right now.

still think there are plenty of inconsistencies & stuff that doesn't come close to adding up. i'm thinking how he's going to extricate himself from this mess is front & center on his mind.

Strange thing, though, is that he's had family members here with him who could certainly have provided help with caring for the girls.

so, regardless of what he might have preferred, the judge clearly believed it was in the best interests of the girls to be with Nancy's family. (I just wonder if that was BC's preference, too....)

That 'pink colored' nail may end up being one of those press-on child play nails or something not connected to the crime.

This is what I am thinking it could be also. I assume LE would take it just in case it is NC and has any evidence to help with the case. What can it hurt? IMO it would hurt more not to take it when they get the chance to get it.

I just haven't seen NC with tips in any of her photo's. Her toenails don't appear to be long or tipped either. Painted yes, not with tips. Of course this isn't saying she hasn't had it done before.

If it were a tip I understand it could pop off, but really hard to imagine someone with short nails has a piece left behind unless they personally trimmed them.

Also with the detailed search how do we know it wasn't also from someone else that BC had an affair with? NC was gone for an entire week just before she was murdered.

This case has made me so tired and sad. Poor Nancy, rest her soul. I don't know how she found the strength every day to keep going in that house and still put a smile on her face. I swear I can see the sadness in her eyes in every picture. Such a tragedy. :(

Yes they could be fake nails of some sort. It is hard to imagine her entire nail coming off. It would surely help to link him to the crime, IF she was found with a missing fingernail that was then found at the house. They must have had some reason for collecting this item during the search.

Sorry to repeat myself, but I would really like another opinion on this. I blew up the "saddest party ever" photo from the memorial site (NC is standing in between two friends with her arm around a shoulder and her hand is visible), and it looked to me as though she had light pink nail polish on. I would not have been able to see this if I did not make the image larger. They did not look at all like acrylic or fake nails. Now, I know that we don't know for sure that the picture was taken on July 11th. But if it was and if she is wearing LIGHT pink nail polish in the picture, then that may be significant, I think.

BTW, I would post the picture, but I don't have the technical capability.

Can I ask, how did you blow that pic up? I couldn't get it to do that for me.

I blew it up, too, to the point where it was starting to pixelate, but didn't see anything other than natural nails, and I am now on my other computer so can't post it. Her nails seemed really short, too.

I used Photoshop, cropped the area, and then enlarged.

Thanks Star.

With all due respect, there is no polish on her fingernails. What I'm seeing is a natural nail bed, no lacquer, not even clear. There is a buffing cream that people sometimes use, mostly for men or when you have pink & white acrylics that will bring the nail to a high sheen when buffed with a chamois buffer but I don't even see that here.

I also wanted to add that it's easier to lose a nail than many would think. I personally fell at a hotel pool in Vegas a couple years ago and ripped off the entire big toenail on my right foot. I didn't fall that hard either.

Just saying it does happen. She could have hit it on a door frame, bedpost, etc.

Now that the SWs have been released I think/fear there will be nada...nothing more said about the case other than little blurbs once a month by Cary PD about they are 'happy to be making good progress.' They are certainly not going to tell us results of any DNA testing or any other testing they've done.

The only way we'll know progress was made is if and when the case is sent to the Grand Jury, an indictment is handed down AND an arrest is made. And given that the DA is not in any hurry...

Well...

It could be several months or even a year or more. And that's if they actually have enough in the DA's opinion for him to move forward.

How long is this DA's term and when does it expire? Anyone know?

Though I guess not directly related to the criminal investigation, on the custody front, I recall there is a hearing (requested by the plantiffs) set for a couple of weeks from now where the judge will rule on whether or not BC should undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Then of course there's the later (at least currently scheduled) hearing to determine final custody about 1 month after that. [ Again, while not directly related to the criminal investigation, the results of both those events may be 'of interest' ]

Do we know for sure that the DA hasn't requested an indictment and been denied by the GJ in this case? [ and the Michelle Young case for that matter ] In other words, the DA may not be the 'hold up'. Depending on the circumstances, not sure getting a new one in place will necessarily help speed up progress. (Just MO...)

I really wish I could show you what I see. The nails are short, but not so short that the white edges of her nails would not be visible. I can not see the white edges of her nails in the photo, except perhaps a tiny bit under a coat of very light pink nail polish. Anyway, I do thank you for looking at this and giving me your opinion.

Someone asked if we knew if Nancy was right or left handed. Notice she's carrying her keys in her left hand. I tend to put mine in my right hand when I am carrying them to or from the car, and I am right-handed. I know it doesn't prove anything; but I would guess "left handed" if I had to.

Red, you really think so? I am right handed, but I tend to carry in my left hand, which leaves my right available for whatever, and then transfer when I need to. I guess it would just be habit, eh?

Yes, it would depend on habit. I wonder if how you carry yours is normal? We need some more opinions.

Wow. The DA's office is going to get busier and yet not prosecuting much these days. Hmmmm.

I was kinda hoping we'd get the AR soon. Other than that, I agree with you.

I am right handed. Something like keys and a cell phone - I'd grab with my right hand. Just thinking about grabbing them with my left makes me feel queazy. Weird.
