another parent named in the case...

Jeffrey Bizzack, 59, of Solana Beach, California, will admit to paying $50,000 to the University of Southern California and $200,000 to the scam’s mastermind, college counselor William “Rick” Singer, to get his son into USC.

He becomes the 34th parent and 51st person to be charged in the scandal, and the first new defendant since federal prosecutors in Boston announced the case more than three months ago.

Bizzack is a business partner of professional surfer Kelly Slater.

In July 2017, Singer asked Bizzack for biographical information about his son that prosecutors said was for a phony athletic profile. Later that month, Bizzack emailed Singer his son’s academic transcripts, which were forwarded to Laura Janke, the former USC assistant soccer coach.

Janke then created a fabricated volleyball profile for the son and sent it to Singer, who forwarded it to “the senior associate athletic director at USC.”

The Netflix movie “Otherhood” — whose release was delayed after Huffman, who co-stars in the film, admitted to paying $15,000 to fraudulently raise her daughter’s SAT score — is finally seeing the light of day.

In the preview of “Otherhood”, Huffman plays Helen, a mom who drives to New York City with two pals (Patricia Arquette and Angela Bassett) so they can reconnect with their grown sons.

The movie now premieres on Netflix Aug. 2.

Harvard University fired its fencing coach Peter Brand after an independent investigation found evidence of his participation in an admissions scheme involving a would-be recruit.

Brand sold his home in Needham, Massachusetts to Maryland businessman Jie Zhao for nearly $1 million in 2016, or roughly double its assessed value. Shortly after, Zhao’s son gained admission to Harvard with a spot on its fencing team.

Zhao later sold Brand’s home at a loss of more than $300,000 without ever having lived in it. The businessman denied that the purchase was a transaction tied to his son’s admission, arguing that it was meant to be an investment and favor to Brand, who had complained about a long commute.

Over 30 USC students probed in college admissions scandal

More than 30 students at the University of Southern California are under investigation for their ties to the mastermind behind the sweeping college admissions scandal, according to a new report.

The 33 students identified in USC’s own probe — all linked to college prep whiz William “Rick” Singer — were all hauled in for “tense and often emotional” interviews, sometimes lasting up to three hours, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Douglas Hodge, the former Pimco chief accused of using a middleman to cheat his kids’ way into elite colleges, offered a glimpse of his defense on Monday: He made donations, not bribes.

Hodge will show that the payments he made to a nonprofit foundation run by William “Rick” Singer were just like large donations he’d made over the years to support higher education long before his kids applied to college.

Well, at least there might be an opportunity for both the ladies to get work playing themselves?

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli firmly believe that they won't be convicted in their upcoming trial in the college admissions scandal, which is estimated to take place in early 2020.

The source added that Giannulli, 55, refuses to even discuss any possibility of a plea bargain in their case and that he and Loughlin, 54, are "actively engaged" in their legal defense.

If they paid $500,000 to get their kids in, I wonder what their legal fees are up to? “Active engagement” must be racking up those quarter hours. No attorney is going to listen to her marathon claims of innocence without his money meter ticking. Gotta get paid to listen to that BS!

Well art imitates life, y'know!

That's funny right there, I don't care who you are. Unless of course you've been charged!

JMHO YMMV

I’m not big on using memes as comments, but If we could post them here I would be using one showing a person settling in with a big bowl of popcorn. This is gonna be good.

I am sad that LL is such a horrible person, though. I feel like she murdered Aunt Becky!

In court documents Lori and Mossimo waived their right to separate representation in the case.

“Giannulli and Loughlin are innocent of the charges brought against them and are eager to clear their names,” the couple's attorneys wrote in a filing this week. “And they believe their interests will be advanced most effectively by presenting a united front against the Government’s baseless accusations.”

The couple’s attorneys from Latham & Watkins said that their clients want a “common defense” and that they understand the risks, including the frequent legal argument that “the best defense for one client may depend on compromising the defense of the other client.”

Giannulli and Loughlin are due in court on Aug. 27, where they're expected to announce their co-defense as well as address an alleged potential conflict of interest issue: Latham & Watkins represents the USC in an unrelated real estate dispute.
