'Trails Carolina was fined a total of $18,000 for those violations. The camp has 60 days to pay the penalty before a 10% penalty plus accused interest is added to the fine.
The camp also has a right to contest the penalties by filing a contested case hearing within 30 days of the letter’s mailing.
CDHHS decided to revoke the camp’s license based on finding that Trails Carolina’s violations “endanger the health, safety, and welfare of clients.”
The camp has 10 days to show compliance with all lawful requirements to be able to retain its license and must submit a written statement asserting such within that time frame. The revocation will be permanent if a written statement or informal conference request is not received by April 7.
