Robeson County Sheriff's Office:

Media Release
Monday, August 19, 2024

On Monday, August 19, 2024, Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Homicide, Criminal, and Major Crimes Detectives along with the Aviation Division conducted land and air searches for a missing Robeson County woman across an area off of Turkey Branch Road outside of Fairmont and another area near Orrum.

On Sunday, August 11, 2024, Chelsea Jones, 33, of Rowland was reported missing to the Fairmont Police Department. A few days later, the Fairmont Police Department requested that the investigation be conducted by the sheriff’s office after a determination was made that Jones was last seen at a residence outside of town.

“Detectives have been working behind the scenes for several days,” says Sheriff Burnis Wilkins. “There is little doubt that a few people who have been interviewed have information pertinent to locating Chelsea Jones. We are seeking the truth as no family should have to endure this type of pain especially when we know information is being withheld that could bring this investigation to a close.”

The sheriff’s office Helicopter, Drone, and Offroad four wheelers were used to search an area of interest as established by investigators. The investigation continues and search areas will expand as new information is developed.

Chelsea Jones is described as:
Race: Native American
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 142 pounds
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jones or the case is asked to contact the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3170.

The volunteer group, Precision Search and Rescue, is helping to search for 33-year-old Chelsea Jones of Robeson County. The group's founder, Christopher Rhodes, tells me they've been looking for Jones since last week and working with her family. Rhodes said he's hoping his efforts along with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office will help determine what happened to Jones. Wilkins said the search could expand into another area of the county.
