Thank goodness that she has been identified!

Hopefully justice will be served now that connections can be made between her and those surrounding the storage unit. There should be a clear paper trail of who would have had access to the unit over the years (owners, renters, and staff).

It is very frustrating to know that the family had been fighting for a DNA comparison with the Jane Doe for years only to be denied because of an erroneous profile of the victim. Only when the profile was updated (from a Caucasian person with red hair to a person of Native American descent) does it seem like they gave the family the time of day based on the article.

ETA: Good on her daughter for continuing the fight to solve her mother’s disappearance all of these years later. Without her persistence, her mother’s case may never have been solved.

There are inherent limitations in what you can learn using anthropological analysis alone. This is why we advocate for advanced DNA testing for the unidentified. It can reveal more precise information and provide clues to identity.

"She had been missing since 2005 and was living with her boyfriend in the Durham area at the time of her disappearance. "

"It is unclear how long the remains may have been hidden in the storage unit in Durham County, but the unit was rented by the same person since 2010. "

I'd bet the police are going to give her boyfriend a visit quite soon. I wonder if he's the person who rented to storage room.

Thanks again to everyone on Websleuths that helped fund this case. Also -- time to update the title of this thread now that she is identified!
