I thought an article said partial remains.
Anyway, the likelihood of him drowning is much greater than a shark attack. The odds of death by drowning is approximately 1 in 1134 and 1 in 3.7 million from a shark attack, and 1 in 7 million for getting murdered.
ETA: Whatever happened I hope it was quick and that he didn’t suffer!

there must be something evident on the body that indicates a homicide, then? i wonder if its got something to do with the state of the remains (partial only) as i dont think a week in the water is long enough to cause natural disarticulation. very sad for his family :(

I was just coming to say this. They believe it is a murder so I am guessing gun shot or partial remains meaning dismembered.Something very apparent with the body.

jesus, how grizzly! i really was expecting this to be an accidental drowning situation. I am guessing the police are interrogating the friends he was camping with when he went missing very closely.I dont think murder by strangers, especially ones that get rid of the evidence, are very common.

Wow. That was unexpected. So sorry, Enrique. Nobody deserves to have his life taken at such a young age and in such a violent manner. I hope police get justice for you and your family. His family members must be devastated. They will be in my thoughts.

We had discussed drowning, a shark attack and falling off of a moving vehicle. I think we can rule out the first two. I suppose that someone might panic if they were driving drunk and this young man fell off the side and died. But it seems like a stretch to imagine them dismembering his body and tossing parts into the ocean. I'm going to rule out that one, too, and assume that this was an intentional murder. Whether it was premeditated or a crime of passion remains to be seen.

I mentioned earlier that Enrique was a very small guy. He could have been overpowered by a larger person, and he would have had no chance against two people.

It's time to start sleuthing for a motive.

I wanted to go back and read previous articles that reported on the remains when they were found (details, wording) to see if anything stands out or we possibly overlooked.

Wow! This just gets worse as time passes. If his so called friends had something to do with it, I think there are too many of them to keep their stories straight and to keep a secret. JMO

That is very well possible, esp when a vehicle (Jeep) was mentioned by authorities and asked that anybody who may have seen it to contact LE.
This is merely my opinion & I mentioned it up thread, the photo shared with his missing info looks as if he is standing on the side of a vehicle (possibly a Jeep). I hope this is not the case but what if he fell off the side & got hurt somehow?
Just thinking aloud, IMO

And it’s possible he went for a swim & something happened. Hopefully there will be an update soon.
My thoughts as well mlhenn, he was standing on the side of the jeep while it was traveling at a high rate of speed and he fell off. I read upthread the jeep was followed by a blue truck, I believe. Even though he was not known to be a risk taker, (according to his sister) that kind of activity might seem harmless to someone his age.

A silver/white Jeep followed by a bright blue Ford Ranger pickup. He could have fallen off jeep and been hit by pickup. LE should be questioning these people. JMO, I don't think it was someone he went camping with.
