SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - WBTV has learned that a child custody review that had been scheduled to take place on Thursday involving the adoptive parents of missing Rowan County teenager Erica Parsons has been postponed until next month, after Casey Parsons receives a sentence in federal court for defrauding the government.

The new date for the custody review has been set for February 12 in Salisbury.

During the most recent custody review in October there was a change in the custody plan, removing the option of reunification for the Parsons and their youngest children.

According to the North Carolina DHHS web site, reunification means the biological parents can petition the court to regain custody of the children.

Since the October hearing, the plan for the Parsons removes that option and instead moved to a plan of guardianship, with the possibility that full legal custody could be awarded to other family members.

I feel horribly for the younger children. I suspect that as children get older in this family, and become more challenging, and lose their cute factor and become more individual, they lose favor. But the youngers, they were probably still being made over. They were bios, and still young enough to control. JMO.

I feel for how their lives have been completely turned topsy turvy and they are confused as to what the heck happened.

Forgive me , but I'm a little weepy at the moment. I saw this story that looked like a good smile so I clicked on it. Immediately I see such a big resemblance between the girl in this story and Erica, I wanted to come and share. Let me be absolutely clear, this is NOT Erica. It's obviously a girl in a family from birth, so that is not why I'm sharing. I just think this sweet little face might be what Erica looks like today if we ever got a chance to see her pretty face. It made me cry because the story is precious and because Erica is nowhere. . . . . . . .

Sentencing for Casey was delayed - the government filed a motion to delay it so she and Sandy are sentenced on the same day. I think the new date is February 18 although one report said the 19th.

"In support of this motion, the government states that it intends to call the same witnesses who will testify to the same issues, in general, as to both defendants," the motion states. "Two of the witnesses are from outside of North Carolina. The government contends that common sentencing date would be in the interest of judicial efficiency, as it would allow the witnesses to testify at a single hearing, and allow for their cross-examination by each of the defendants'

It also appears that Casey and Sandy aren't going to get their other kids back - ever.

Carolyn Parsons, Erica’s biological mother, was in the juvenile courtroom, which is not open to the public. She told a Post reporter the judge will grant the Parsonses one farewell visit with Sadie and Toby, likely after the federal sentencing next week.

Carolyn Parsons is Erica's biological mother. A judge that ran one of the earlier custody reviews told Casey and Sandy that unless they could produce Erica, it would be very difficult for them to have their biological children returned to the their home. Carolyn Parsons says that's why she's so interested in what happens with Casey and Sandy's children.

"Nobody deserves to live in a home like that, nobody deserves to be afraid, nobody deserves to be scared to go to sleep…you love Sadie and Toby, but this is the life you have them choose to live forever," Parsons added. "Do the right thing and let them go, do the right thing, give them a home that they can be happy in."

I hope the monsters are immediately taken into custody & are sent away for the longest time allowable.
And I hope the other prisoners really hate baby-killers.

Terrible stories coming out of the witnesses at the hearing today. It's just as I feared the monsters made her suffer terribly. I fear the last night the brother saw her alive was her last night on earth :( I hope they get everything coming to them. Erica didn't deserve any of it.

I had an opportunity to meet both of the "parents" last year- just a few days before they were arrested.
Casey is certified crazy- goes off (ballistic) on a whim.

If all is found to be true, I hope they both get exactly what they deserve.

I have not been ableto bring myself to check on this case til now although I knew there was news. I have not read any of the linked material about court. :sigh: I am steeling myself to go in.
