The case I was close to was the Duke Lacrosse Rape Hoax.

It began with an accusation that aroused very sincere passions...a poor Black girl claimed to have been gang raped and beaten in a small bathroom by three rich white lacrosse players who were students at the expensive and prestigious Duke University. The media, with only an accusation and no evidence, chose a side. The emotional stories they told about these arrogant "swaggering" rich kids and this struggling young mother were heartbreaking and infuriating.

The problem was there was no evidence.

Eventually it was revealed that the young woman, an "escort", had the DNA from numerous men in all three of her orifices, but no DNA from any Lacrosse player. The facts that she had bipolar disease, drug and alcohol addictions, and had accused three Black men of the same crime some years before...were pretty much suppressed by the media.

Good people who are ashamed of our racial,history and who have great empathy for the struggles many have endured, were the most susceptible to want to believe the media narrative. It's very hard to use your head, when your heart becomes engaged. Never underestimate the fierce power of empathy. As the case against the boys crumbled, one student at the neighboring Black college said this;

One NCCU student, Chan Hall, as quoted by Newsweek, [44] stated, "It's the same old story. Duke up, Central down." He continued that he wanted to see the Duke students prosecuted "whether it happened or not. It would be justice for things that happened in the past."

You can imagine how such a statement felt to the Mothers of innocent young men, who were being "chosen" to pay the price with 50 years of their lives for our shameful racial history. Why my child? If he did not do a crime, why him?

"Mom, she chose me." ...one 19 year old told his Mother.

Would freeing MM for the rage killing of JC be "justice" for all the DV.victims of the past? Especially if the media can make you hate JC and love her enough as they shape the story?

Empathy, emotion...and the law. It was not about the truth. It was about a social justice narrative back then. The problem was...the "example" was a lie.

A few years after the boys were declared innocent, the False Accuser, still deified by many ...set fire to her apartment with her kids in it. She got off with time served. Another year or so, and she murdered the latest boyfriend. She was convicted of that crime and hopefully she is getting the psychiatric help she needs in prison.

A lot of people are projecting onto this case - the awareness that 'nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors' and the innate fear of men that is in today's society makes people eager to take Molly's side. As StMarysMead said above, people want to support the victim so the Martens' only workable strategy was to paint Molly as the victim. This scenario plays into the stereotypical view of abusive homes - the husband earns the money, controls the wife and ultimately wins the custody battle. The idea of a man being embattled or intimidated by a woman goes against the stereotype.

When anyone commented in reply to those providing the empathy, their brick wall came up saying you have never suffered DV so you don't know. MM has been laying the ground work for this since that night in August 2015 all with the assistance of TM, SM, MEx2. But she really cranked it up at the beginning of December 2015, when she began her consistent tales of woe all the while slating the Irish family. She carefully threw out a few crumbs and watched the feeding frenzy, those loyal supporters were being slowly manipulated, they even started feeding off each other. She even drew in a couple from this side of the pond for good measure.

On the 4th December 2015, Law Enforcement executed a search warrant on the property in NC. Now they had issued many warrants previously but these were to financial institutions, social media offices, things that they may not have known about, Other ones, for example to the Golf Club to search JC locker, they would just brush off as nothing to see here. But on the 4th December, Law Enforcement forcibly entered that property to execute that warrant, now I doubt that they used a battering ram to gain entry, I would suspect that they used a locksmith but it is clear from the warrant that no one was home at the time. Even if they thought there was some chance of them getting away with it before, this one event, particularly because of what was listed on it as items to search for, it showed that their story was in serious jeopardy.

Immediately after this, MM begins her carefully scripted rants on FB, a few crumbs here and few crumbs there was all that was needed, the feeding frenzy began, her snare began to snap them up one by one. On the 5th Dec, she throws out four FB messages, all proclaiming her love for the children and her hurt as they are not with her. Sympathy gained, the trap began. She continues on the 6th and 7th but on the 8th the Irish family onslaught begins. They stole her children all with the assistance of US judges. MEx2 even pop in the response to add fuel to the fire. Big seed planted and they came in their droves to feed.

For the next few day, it is just messages of love & remembering times past, baking cookies and the like, her phone number and email address added in for effect. The sympathy responses continued, oh MM my heart breaks for you, oh MM how could they do this to you.

17th December, she stirs it up a bit, explaining how she begged the "temporary guardians" to give her more time with the children, their response was so cold, no regard for her or her feelings. SM pops in to respond. But the following day, the 18th, she gives legs to her campaign, brandishing the new Guardians (the L's) liars. In this post, she also introduces the notion that the Guardians entered the house the previous week, going through her drawers & stuff. Another big seed planted.

The next few day, the love you, miss you posts continue, with a little sprinkling of harassment for good measure. But on the 23rd she goes to town. The guardian are dreadful people, all they want are cheep cigarettes, they broke into her house, even going through her underwear drawer. They stole pictures of the children which were hanging on the wall. The feeding frenzy was so bad that even the supporters feed off each other. She then owned them, her word was the only word that counted, everything else was a lie. Never did she tell them that her house was broken into on 4th December by Law Enforcements, they went through her drawers, they took the photos & other things, they did not retrieve a baseball bat which was detailed on the search warrant but they now have photographs of little JC using the bat.

One of the worst photos that I saw on her page was the one of the bat cover carefully placed across the little boys cloths. Even if you convince yourself that it was another bat, how could anyone in their right mind put up a photo on FB, supposedly for the purpose of the children to see, with a photo of a bat cover when a baseball bat was used to bludgeon their father. It is sick.

Many of these same supporters were trolling the ABC FB post when that show was aired. They are responding to the various news articles on numerous sites. They were hooked, MM was an abuse victim & JC was a brute. The Irish media were the enemy, nothing they said resembled the truth in any shape or fashion. Everything she had fed them was wolfed down and everything which was being regurgitated were her lies. Common sense or even looking at the facts did not come into it.

She has manipulated people for years, telling lie after lie after lie. She is behind bars and is still doing it, they are still feeding on what she told them in the past. Her new boyfriend, which I suspect is actually an old boyfriend probably from school, has bought into it. I have no doubt that he is being fed a bunch of lies from the extended family as he was done by MM herself. But that does not make him any less foolish or provide him with an excuse.

Some may finally wake up to the truth, they will come down to earth with a big bang but in the meantime they are doing anything to resist admitting they were wrong. Some never will, it is easier for them to always accept a lie than admit they were wrong. Some actually know it is all a lie and will do & say anything to convince other of it.

Fabulous summary of the case strategy. I would add this....virtue signaling by her supporters...and shaming any "doubters."

If you don't agree with these narratives, it is never because the evidence isn't there or does not support the story....it's because YOU are degenerate. You don't care about domestic violence. Or in the Duke case, you must be a racist or you'd believe the accuser.

You cannot argue fact because their emotion makes anyone looking for facts, a sub-human. MM's supporters believe they are moral superior. They are virtue signaling to each other and marginalizing anyone who would support that Irish brute just because of...say,..blood spatter.

Molly will serve her 20-to 25-year term with some of the most dangerous women in the US, including Blanche Taylor Moore, a convicted killer from North Carolina.

She was found guilty of killing her boyfriend by slipping arsenic into his food, and is suspected of killing three other people and nearly killing another in the same manner.

The jail was described in a 2005 NBC documentary as a place where you “form business as well as romantic relationships in order to survive”.
 
Interesting reading Frizby's timeline: My introduction to this case was when I was browsing FB (in Australia) in January 2016... someone had written a post about how being heartbroken for this poor woman whose husband had died suddenly, and the authorities had taken away her children... just because they weren't her biological children. So now the inlaws had custody and she would never see them again....
Social media was a great tool for Molly - people took her story and ran with it, and this one post went viral enough to land in my newsfeed in Australia! Unlike all the people who commented that "step parents are family too", I was puzzled because why would the in-laws take the kids from a loving stepmother so soon after their father died? It didn't take much investigation to find out the missing piece of information.
 
More about the children's educational fund. Do they really believe the issue of custody is not "resolved?" Is nothing resolved till they win?

I'd not heard of the Duke Lacrosse case before. What strikes me as really unfair is how the 88 academics who immediately jumped onto the bandwagon seem to have suffered no professional consequences whatsoever.

The prosecutor was disbarred, lost his license to practice law, spent one night in jail. That was the only consequence anyone faced.

This case has stirred up many old feelings for me. Will there be consequences for disobeying a direct order from the court (Shipwash.) Haven't seen it yet.

Will there be consequences for ME using his badge to access JC's office? Haven't seen any yet.

Were there consequences for the Winston Salem reporter publishing the false Wedding Warning without the denial on the very week of jury selection? Nope. He continued on the story and is now getting "scoops" from the Defense.

Do not expect consequences once a powerfull metanarrative takes control.
 
Excellent posts today from stmarysmeade and from frizby. And yes I have always believed MM believed her own lies, from day 1. This belief has been strengthened by those who enabled her before and after the murder.

And the new beau went to the same High school so could well be the old boyfriend mentioned to TL. It is clear that MM can be charming and loving. This is obviously why JC fell in love with her and moved his life and his kids across an ocean to be with her. The two things are not mutually exclusive as this new fella seems to believe. I.e. You can be charming but still be a murderer.. I believe MM loves until that person (whether it be a friend or a lover) starts to see the mask slipping and the real MM warts and all, showing. when she is no longer considered perfect by that person, she withdraws her love E.g. KMCG, JC, JC Jnr,
 
When MM moved to Ireland, she was just emerging from...or still in...a very fragile mental state. And yet, TM never visited her for four years. It is just impossible for me to reconcile a man with an unstable daughter who travels overseas...never once visiting her when he has the financial resources to do so.

He also stated on the stand that he knew of no DV. He said "M's marriage was M's marriage." He wasnt going to interfere.

I just can't reconcile the detached Father with the laissez-faire attitude...with the man with the bat, willing to die for his daughter. Or willing to take the rap for her.

Even SM was blaming MM not her husband "M hit him and he fell down."

Why not tell the truth, let her plead temporary insanity,and get the help she needs. Maybe she'd get four years. We know it was no problem for TM to go without seeing her for that length of time.

What is their motivation?

Agreed. I've been puzzling over that too. Did TM genuinely think that because he was LE that he and MM would be believed? I can't help thinking that there's something missing although what that is I have no idea. All my own opinion.

And haven't the children now been legally adopted by the L's. Did you notice that some of the donations were made by little JC's baseball team & club. Imagine their shock when they saw the pictures of the bat knowing that they too saw him play with it just like the cops have in those photos. Every penny should be refunded to those who contributed and if they choose to make a contribution, they should do so now knowing all the facts.

They are appealing the verdict and yesterday Jason’s sister, Tracey Lynch, said it no longer matters what they say, as they are ‘killers and liars’ Mrs Lynch and her husband, David, have adopted Jason’s children from his marriage to the late Mags Corbett.

Agreed. I've been puzzling over that too. Did TM genuinely think that because he was LE that he and MM would be believed? I can't help thinking that there's something missing although what that is I have no idea. All my own opinion.

I'd love to know the truth about how often TM came to that house. I'm betting it wasn't happening on a frequent basis.

I've wondered when SM received her cancer diagnosis. Was TM still dealing with that news...and seeing his wife upset about MM possibly losing the children...convinced him to drive 5 hours down there with her? Did he see JC's actions as threatening his wife's health with producing stress and anxiety?

Just guesses. But my gut feeling is Daddy T did not go down there often. He brought no gift for little JC. Yet he had some powerful motivation. Only a week earlier, he would not accompany his wife and waste a vacation day on "that a$&?@le." But now he drives five hours, having to drive back five hours the next day to be in work on Monday.

How do they think they are going to get two Irish citizens out of Ireland when an American court sent them there...and another American court upheld the decison?
