Certainly the cops have tracked the phone messages! Does that mean that the perps are using untraceable phones?

Other kids will know what is up, at least generally. I think there should be a reward for information.

I hope some of those kids drop a line to the cops just to do the right thing. They can mask their IP very easily, even. It's easy to be completely anonymous nowadays with the internet.

If I lived closer, I'd do posters!

They had the amber alert on digital billboards on I40 in NC. I haven't seen it in a few days, though.

March for Kennedy:

Goldsboro, N.C. — Family and friends of missing teen Kennedy Fitzgerald McLaurin Jr. marched through Goldsboro Thursday evening to draw attention to his case.

Participants, including North Carolina NAACP President Rev. William Barber, started at the McLaurin family home at 5:30 p.m. and walked to the Goldsboro Police Department.

"All of us are kin today. All of us are hurting today," Barber said.

"The Goldsboro Police Department has been searching an area in Seven Springs based on leads that were given," said City of Goldsboro employee Kimberly Best. "In the area in Seven Springs, physical evidence has been found and located. At this point, nobody has been found," Best said.

I wonder if he or any member of his family was witness and came forward. Could this be retaliation? Gang type, and they made a mistake? Was victim known to hang around any gang member's? He could be guilty by association to the perp.

"This investigation has changed from a missing person's report to an active homicide case," said Goldsboro Police Sgt. Dwayne Dean.

Dean said while police know McLaurin is dead, they are still searching for his body. They did not find it when they searched an area along a dirt road in a farm field near Seven Springs, which is about 20 miles from Bain Street where McLaurin was last seen on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Investigators said they were told by witnesses that McLaurin was abducted by three or four men and forced into a car in front of a housing project.

Investigators have issued murder warrants for 21-year-old Leonard Joyner, and they add that rumors floating around the community about the crime are untrue.

"The police department has identified all of the subjects involved in this case," said Dean, "and we can assure the public that this is not gang related nor was it random."

Police say they did find physical evidence related to the crime in the Wayne County farm field, but not McLaurin's body.

They say tips from the public helped solve this crime and they hope more tips will help them locate McLaurin's body.
