We here at WS sometimes do get quite paranoid about some of our searches. Yet another reason to stay on the right side of the law!!

Men's underwear
And why did they have a PS 2 and XBOX 360? I know it has nothing to do with the investigation but weren't they struggling financially and behind on rent?

There's a lot of things on that list that are creepy given the context!

I have to say, though, that PS 2's are quite old and could be had quite cheap...Just ran a quick eBay search. They are $45-190 depending on condition, etc. So not weird IMO.

Did Kimrey plead not guilty so later he could plea guilty to lesser sentence .. ie, life in prison instead of death penalty? Thoughts...(better than the other thoughts being discussed relative to sex toys....) :facepalm:

That would certainly be a logical move on his part. Who knows though, he may actually think he can get away with it.

Would be really interesting to know the exact purchased items on those seized receipts....specifically the date and time.

this is what "normal" loving parents would do but i'm not convinced Mariah had this luxury. There was a previous thread that the pastor's wife took Maria to some appointments and never allowed in the house. Also no mention of the mother or father accompanying the pastor's wife to those appointments

I saw that. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is indeed the case; though it would add another level of sadness. We just spent a year looking for a diagnosis for my youngest’s orthopedic impairment and taking my older two along is not ideal. They aren’t old enough to “sit and be still and quiet.” I would leave those appointments exhausted, get home and realize I forgot to ask questions from the list I brought. For awhile there was a focus on a possible DMD diagnosis and that’s right when Mariah went missing. The cause of her gait disturbance was always of great interest to me. Anywho, sorry to ramble. I try sometimes to find alternate perspectives to some factors in these cases. My worst fear is that she was abused in other ways relate to some of the evidence listed. I really hope that’s not the case.
 
So does anyone know if, in an investigation like this, does law enforcement always take any...adult paraphernalia let's call it, or do they have to have a reason to connect it to the crime for it to be collected?

this case has consumed me since the amber alert. for me, i knew she hadnt left or wandered awat because her braces were still in the trailer. I kept yelling at news casts, "what about the braces." never imagined the rest of the story. IMO, if the police had not been called and the amber alert not issued, this would just be another case of a child murdered, on to the next news item. now we wait til the trial and lord help us when some of the horrid details come to light.

Yes, he made a plea of NG to all charges. I noted that both his attorneys are from the "Capital Defenders" office. This is seen in many states, if not all. They are aka NC Offfice of Indigent Defense, so of course we N. Carolinians will be paying for his defense.

Of course, the pleas will force a trial -- unless a deal can be struck. I don't have a feel for how strongly the courts in Onslow County are about cases such as this. IMO, this crime deserves its capital offense designation, so I think we may indeed see this horror go to trial. The sooner, the better. Also, I don't have a feel for how long we will have to wait. Onslow County is on the NC Atlantic Coast, and Jacksonville is the county seat.
