NC - Shaniya Davis, 5, 11/10/09 TRIAL THREAD

I want to see Shaniya's Dad's statement on video.

I could not possibly care less about this who just got convicted. :woohoo:
(Though I do feel like shouting it from the rooftops!)

Me too, but not sure why... I have no feelings for him.

Justice is coming sweet girl. I hope Bio-momster realizes this jury knows that it wasn't kidnapping because she HANDED her beautiful little girl over to another monster! Thank you jury and thanks to everyone who loves this child as much as I do.

I hope she gets LWOP

Riiiiiight, lol

On a serious note though. I am so pleased that I got to feel justice was achieved for our girl today. Or at least in regards to MAM. Now we just need to get her mother into trial.

It will only be justice if they throw away the key, or give him DP.
that Animal should not have been free from his last incarceration.

I too am disappointed in the lack of coverage. If the only benchmark is salaciousness and gory details, this case was as worthy of the media attention as any other.

I can't help but wonder, if Shaniya wasn't biracial, would this trial have gotten more coverage?

I don't want to believe that but it does make me wonder. :(

I totally agree with you.. The problem I see is that Child Trafficking is kept under wraps and they do not do enough, or publicize it enough.
And with NC having so many many highways leading to so many places it is a trafficking hub that they do not want to put attention to.
I did the walk for Child Trafficking 2 years ago and could not do it this year, it was heart wrenching.
But we do have a definite problem that is not getting enough funding, enough attention, or enough help.
I think that is one reason main TV channels stay away from it. Has nothing to do with bi-racial.

YEP, Remember all the crying NG did on her circus of a show , I sent her emails and tweets about non coverage of Shaniya's story all my tweets were deleted! She is too busy with Jodi (which is very sad and tragic) but Travis was a man, This is a small child! Travis story just teaches us crazy girlfriends can be fatal, but this baby had NO chance, and her story can make people realize what other people around your children are capable of.......and the momster.....this little girls story could save another child!

NG is a media Ho and Jodi is milking the media.
Shanya is a child who was "trafficked", and sadly that is not getting enough anything in this country

I'm so glad to see that more people are finding out the good news. :seeya:

I have been on top of it from the start. but this case made me too crazy so I decided to stay on the outs.... I did not trust the justice system at all.
I am happy to be wrong so far.
Now lets see what kind of punishment he gets and what <Mod Snip> mom gets.

I'm glad you're back, songline. Figured you'd be pretty pleased with the verdict given your heartfelt posts about Shaniya. That little girl has touched the hearts of many.

TOMORROW!!!! :seeya:

It is REALLY hard to look for tweets about Shaniya... hopefully it'll be easier tomorrow.
90% of them are doing nothing but complaining about the lack of news coverage. :banghead:

Don't COMPLAIN, do something! Email the news stations BEFORE the trial, not after it's over!
While the jury was deliberating was not the time to complain and try to get coverage!

I also find it comical that they are saying that Trayvon's case won't get any media attention either...
Obviously they don't watch HLN and see the constant previews for that trial!

He is an interesting character, isnt he? His priors will be part of this process I believe..I wonder why he isnt interested in having someone point out that he once sent someone a get well card, for example? <sarcasm>

He seems to be a private kind of guy. Maybe in some weird way he feels guilty-he is drawing the line at being known as a baby rapist however.

McNeill insists his attorneys not put on a case in his sentencing hearing, despite their advice.Judge seems baffled. #ShaniyaDavis #ABC11

Maybe he is worried about something his mother will say?

The statement about freedom is hogwash-he knew he wasnt going to get freedom and that is just with what he confessed to....the trafficking aspect. Maybe his mother will talk post sentencing.

Mario McNeill went against the advice of his legal team Tuesday and told a judge he will not present any evidence or call witnesses in the penalty phase of his trial.

Ammons questioned McNeill - asking why he didn't want his attorneys to put on a case.

"I could, but no, I don't want to," McNeill responded.

Judge: "I see you smile when you're saying that. Do you understand how serious this is?"
McNeill: "Yes."

Judge: "The death penalty in North Carolina is real."

Judge: "Because we haven't put on a death penalty in a long time doesn't mean we don't have a death penalty."

Ammons asked McNeill to turn around and look at his mom. He turned and smiled at his mother Juanita Ball.

"I don't want you to testify on my behalf. Love you," McNeill told her.

"Love you," Ball responded.

from your link, tlcya:

guilty of first-degree kidnapping, human trafficking with a child victim, sexual servitude with a child victim, sexual offense of a child and indecent liberties with a child charges.

They seem to have missed that whole first degree murder conviction.
