I think it was mentioned more than once because Shaniya with big hair... The hair was the most noticeable thing on such a little girl. I think Byron mentioned it because like myself one if the first things that came to mind us that AD did not give Shaniya basic grroming. She probably did not bathe her or brush her teeth or wash her clothes. She was wearing nothing but a "a big old shirt" --- you might as well call it what it was an old rag. No shoes hair bot comb. If I has seen Shaniya in that condition without even the sexual abuse I would have called CPs myself just to investigate plain and simple neglect. The fact that no one at the hotel did not call for THAT reason... Who knows. Maybe MAM took her up the stairs and avoided the lobby.

BTW in my mind there was something that AD said in her 911 tape that could be used to establish she actually put Shaniya in MAM hands. I won't say fir fear that the defense may be reading snd coach her to explain away but I hope the prosecution is smarter enough to pick up on it. They need an AA female on their team to prepare to cross examine AD. There are some things that i know are sensitive issues that could be exploited to reveal things that could put holes in AD story.

IIRC the hotel only called LE in response to Amber Alert or after Shaniya was reported to be missing--and not, as Empty:heart: is suggesting should have been done prior to recognizing her--based solely upon Shaniya's neglected appearance. JMO

IIRC her Aunt said she packed enough for a 2 day stay.

Yes, I know what the term means, I guess I was just looking at the two times it was mentioned and wondering why it was so important. I can see how we are concerned at the care (or lack thereof) of Shaniya. I am curious as to why AD found it important to blurt out, and why with everything that happened, Byron C, a teenaged boy, mentioned it. I guess I am tired and making too much of it! Oh well, I do that occasionally!

An AA child with their "hair out" is a cultural term as you already know. It's hard for me to explain the significance that they would both mention it, but it's very important.
I'll try to explain: AD used it as an identifier, part of a description,(it is unusual to see a young AA child in public with their "hair out" as was Shaniya's hair in the photo with MAM), BC used the term as an identifier and reference of neglect.
"Hair out" basically= Unkempt, in AA culture.

To achieve the curls in the pic of Shaniya wearing the white dress required some type of smoothing/styling product. Often her hair was pulled back in a neat ponytail, also with the use of styling product.

Wasn't the interview a NG interview? So, BL took it off her site?
I'm not following.

Our member PattyG normally tapes and uploads all NG shows (IIRC). Have you checked with her for the interview? I'm sure BL didn't take her info off of her computer.

I will make it brief and hope it helps.
When someone is concerned about public opinion they get the Internet cleaned up. so that we can forget as much as possible. In the hopes that by the time a trial comes no body even thinks of all the details they should be thinking of.
Like out of sight out of mind.
PattyG cant have anything that has been removed. so all her links will have a dead end to them.
Besides if you look - they used to be attached to her Signature, and they are not there.

One of my skills is marketing, you publicize what you do what the public to know you get it cleaned up if it creates concern for future.

OT: If you look at ARTICLES for employment they tell you to make sure to clean up your name, and they mean clean up facebook, my space or anyplace that may give a poor impression of you or Too much Information, because you may loose out to someone who makes a better impression.
The Internet is an information bonanza and not all information is good for you....Look at Tiger Woods many articles have already been cleaned up.

exactly! Both mentioned for different reasons. It is unusual for an AA child to look like that. This is why it is so surprising to me that Shaniya's appearance did not peak someone's suspicion. That and a single man with a young girland no woman with them

At that hour of the morning there may not have been many people around to see them and those that did may not have known it was odd. They probably looked at his horrible dreads and just thought to themselves, "what a mess those two are", he and that simple grin, she without shoes, pants etc.

I agree. However, I feel a bit about the neglectful/odd appearance of a man with an unkempt child like I do in Walmart parking lots when I see an adult smack a child and say something like "Shut your mouth you little b*tch." Can't tell you the number of times I have seen that in Sanfords very own Walmart.
It's abuse to me. It's not abuse to LE.

Now...I might get some attention from LE if I call in when I see an adult punch a kid in the face in the parking lot...

My point being, often people sense and see and are uncomfortable with what is clearly an abusive or neglectful situation. But it's a fine line when it comes to other peoples' kids. I have A TON of friends in LE- including local here.

They will all tell you the same thing if you call in and say, "I just saw a young black man with a young black girl who looked neglected. Her hair wasn't done right and she looked like she should have had better clothes on and shoes."

They'll say, "Poor kid. That part of town sucks. If you witness an actual crime, please call us back. Thanks and have a great day."

Does anyone remember my question about the report and whether it was by a mandated or non-mandated reporter? This is one of the reason for that post.
