NC - Shaniya Davis, 5, missing from her home 11/10/09 #1

I cannot find anything on the mom with either spelling of the first name. GRRR..

I believe full name is Antwanette LaJune Cox Davis. She's 37 born in 1972. Found on ancestry...birth father listed but no birth mother...strange huh.

What is your source for the additional photos of Shaniya? I haven't been able to find any of them except for the two in the media.

If you have issue with it, just click on the triangle in the top right corner of the person's post. That way it doesn't muddy up the threads.

I just read this, I think my issue is legitimate. Those pics are not of Shaniya, and people should stop posting pictures of kids that have nothing to do with this. What will the triangle do? I dont log on here much, will that flag that person's post or something? TIA

There is a child, at this time, she is still missing, lets focus on her. She deserves our input, without negativity.

Occassionally other people in the park use her trash can?? Does this strike anyone odd, or is it common for the area?

Not that I think the neighbor had anything to do with what actually happened, but maybe she does know, or suspect more than she is saying.

If you hit the triangle, it alerts that post. It brings you to another area to type your concerns over a matter in that post and it will alert all the mods assigned to this forum.

To me the way the trailer is situated~ unless there is a sex offender living in one of the trailers circling the trailer who would KNOW there was a little girl living there and could watch her families coming/going etc...~ then I am convinced that something happend to her INSIDE her own home by someone living there...

That is just a weird layout of homes right there.

Would she have been in school? I don't know when they have to start in NC. If she was supposed to be and wasn't, why wasn't CPS sent out? (Never mind, rhetorical question.)
Normally, there would be people popping up and saying "Last time I saw her..." None of that this time.

Most kids start at 5 here, but legally they dont have to start until they are 7. Does anyone know when she turned 5? I think the cutoff date is at the end of august, they have to be 5 by then to start.

I am new to the boards, I have just been reading to keep up with different cases but have never replied to anything. I wanted to reply to this case because I live in Fayetteville! That whole area (off Murchinson Rd) where she lived is one of the worst areas in town. I am not at all surprised to hear about drugs and DSS involvement. This area is not somewhere I would want to drive around by myself, even during the day. :/ It really makes me worry what might have happened to her, I hope they find her. And someone had posted something asking what time schools start here, elementary schools start at 8am. Buses usually run around 7:15 or so.

Hi sourpickle, Welcome to WS! I am in Sanford, and I agree the area she disappeared from is a pretty rough place. I post in the Haleigh Cummings forum, but little Shaniya has captured my attention with her sweet pictures! I pray she found alive and ok!

That's what I heard. That made more sense than the printed interview with her. She heard someone struggling to get at her trash can. Has anyone seen anything about the lighting in the park? Do they have streetlights or just porch lights? Could perp have been trying to feel their way around the side of her house in the dark in order to find the trash can?

I hate to even think this, yet type it..buttttt I wonder if the banging she heard was the trash can with something more in it then the blanket?? OH GOD! I hate the thought of the possibility that little Shaniya body may have been put in there and then removed but the blanket was left behind. Prayers for ShANIYA and i hope to GOD i am wrong!!!

Yes NMK--it did seem a little odd--almost like she was trying to say something, without saying it. Does that make sense?

It may be an area that they have to pay for trash pick-up, and in that case I would not find it odd that other people used her can. Actually in that area of Fayetteville, I don't find it odd at all under any circumstances.

Here in TX you have to be 5 before Sept 1. We also have Pre-k programs here though, and low-income, learning/physically disabled & ESL students qualify. Not judging her families income, but she may have attended a pre-k program even if she just turned 5.

I find that odd also. The neighbor also said that the trash was taken away on Monday. I am assuming that the blanket was the only thing in her bin, and possibly Shaniya could have been taken to the landfill (I hate typing that) but it is a possibility. Has anyone verified when the last time she was seen?
