The nose is throwing me off. Looks very similar to mine. but I’m north East African. Has her being from North Africa been confirmed?

I wouldn’t be surprised if she was from Somalia. My mom left during the war and went to Italy during that time. She lived in a house with a ton of young women. All worked maid/house keeping jobs. She now manages housekeeping in a hotel here in Canada and she trains lots of young Ukrainian women who have come escaping their current situation.
What countries had people fleeing around that time?

I'm curious as to exactly how she was connected to the Moroccan family in Belgium. Was she linked by DNA, or was the connection discovered some other way and she may not be biologically related to them?

Bingo. I honestly think she’s Somali. That nose is my nose. The high cheekbones, etc.

It will be hard to solve without including the Somali community if she is in fact Somali. We are insular from a community standpoint but due to conflict we are all over the world. My family live in Norway,Sweden,Germany,Italy,England, etc. but truthfully Somali folks won’t see this unless this is targeted at them directly.

I believe the Morton Jane Doe case was also Somali and she wasn’t identified until the community got involved. I believe she was incorrectly stated to be from non-Somali origins for quite a number of years too.

I believe one suspect was a white male, another was an elderly woman who had an olive complexion and a male with an olive connection. So I wonder if she was trafficked in some way.

My mom told me stories of some of the girls she was living with. Tons of young immigrant women who were desperate for a job and ability to make a living. Some at the expense of their dignity. Those stories were especially heartbreaking for me to hear.

She was likely kept hidden. I wouldn’t be surprised if she never even got the opportunity to learn Dutch. Somalia is an Islamic country, lots of Somalis also know Arabic. Her abusers likely also spoke Arabic. She might have had language limitations.

Could she even ask for help if she wanted to? I shudder to think about what she might have experienced.

I'm wondering if this "connection" was through DNA or something else. Because I agree it's likely she was trafficked. It's widely reported that she is, in fact, Moroccan, but it's possible she could be from somewhere else and was connected to the Moroccan family by some other means/isn't biologically related.
