My two cents on the choking thing:
I lean more towards All & Forward's opinion that it's fairly run of the mill for 'young' people who are quite sexually active (up there with *advertiser censored*).
My personal experience - as someone in late twenties who would probably be considered quite 'promiscuous' by most - is that it frequently happens in casual sex, although it's always been brought up first. Just doing it without asking would be creepy and in that case I agree with the lasses.

On a societal level though when I really think about it it makes me sick. It's such an example of *advertiser censored*'s dominance in shaping sexual behaviours and then violence against women being normalised in that regard. Watch HBO's Euphoria in you want an insight in how effed Gen Z is.

Yep. As a wayback Gen X type here I find the rise of playacting killing a woman as a top sex act could present some problems for criminal responsibility on a societal level. Someone shared this earlier and I found it on point.

As you mention *advertiser censored* IMO this defendant was heavily pornified to the extent he was seeking it out as Grace Millane's newly dead body lay nearby. In fact he tried to turn her into *advertiser censored* with his pictures. I find that quite illuminating of his frame of mind.

Thanks for this, I just rewatched this after first seeing it last week. I am now thinking that it's possible he did this as a ha ha funny joke for Grace's benefit. I did a bit of online dating back in the day and there is always that moment where you first see each other in real life which is a bit awkward. This could be his way of trying to break the ice - like he sees her and she sees him, the've made eye contact then he jokingly pretends like he's going to turn around and walk away but then doesn't.

Not that it makes much difference - it could equally be the other scenario, where he was actually going to turn and leave then had second thoughts for whatever reason. But I do think from the trajectory of the way they were walking, and knowing that big open space out the front of sky city - that Grace would most likely have seen the accused too by the time he did his little 360 turn.

This is an excellent point. I listened to a podcast series (the name of which escapes me right now) about how the rise of online *advertiser censored* has totally changed the sexual mores of a whole generation.

It IS hard to tell with the pixelation but, it looks like he was straightening up his clothing, checking his flies were up, adjusting sleeves etc ...

It is clear that the defendant had an extreme sexual disorder complex that had been getting more obsessive for some time. The women before Grace, (including the lady that met with him on Dec 2nd in Ponsonby), were extremely lucky.

I can't imagine any girl of 21, (unless in the *advertiser censored* industry or prostitution:- which Grace was not), would have wanted to conduct anything like that level of extreme erotic sex. Grace was clearly looking for a passionate encounter, not to be smothered!; not at all.

In my view, the style of sex was imposed by the accused due to the clear evidence of deep bruising on Grace's body and the lengths he went to restrain her. There is no way under those circumstances she would have given him the green light to continue as it must have been quite vulgar and unpleasant for her.

It obviously points to a situation where due to the drink, he has gone completely off the rails, took control, and ignored her pleas to stop; which resulted in him carrying on until he climaxed or she had stopped moving/breathing.

All of what he know of this case up to now, shows that this man is a maniac that deserves to remain behind bars until well into old age where he will no longer represent a mortal threat to the young female population.

Well said. I have to agree with that @Hjp . Also i guess that will be the prosecusions closing argument to jury.
