HAVE YOU SEEN GRACE?

Police are releasing a CCTV image as our investigation into the disappearance of 22-year-old English tourist Grace Millane continues.

Since receiving a missing person’s report around lunchtime yesterday, Police have been piecing together Grace’s last known movements with the last sighting being on Saturday night.

This image of Grace was taken at 7.15pm on Saturday night at Sky City in Auckland’s CBD.

In the CCTV image Grace is seen wearing a black dress and white shoes, believed to be Converse shoes.
Police are aware of a number of reported sightings of Grace from members of the public.

At this stage, these are unconfirmed sightings and Police will assess these as part of our ongoing enquiry.
Police are keeping an open mind in this investigation and there is still work to be done.

CCTV footage has been crucial so far in locating Grace’s movements.

“Clearly this is a very stressful time for Grace’s family and the longer she remains missing the more our concern grows for her safety and wellbeing,” says Detective Inspector Scott Beard.

“It’s important that anyone who recognises Grace from this photo or saw her on Saturday night contacts Police immediately on 09 302 6970.”

I must say as time goes on I find this case more and more baffling. She has seemingly vanished without trace in a place rife with CCTV etc, if she was spotted on camera at Sky City where is the footage of her leaving? Anybody got any theories as I keep reading between her being kidnapped for ransom as her dad is wealthy, to her going off grid and losing signal/battery. Just hope she’s okay.
 
So they have “grave” concern after chatting with the lad she was last seen with? Is that NZ lingo or do they mean something in that exchange gave them a reason to fear for her life? It seems as if the authorities are and have been motivated and engaged. There had to be more cctv, you don’t just go in and evaporate, did they then see him leave alone or carrying something? She certainly looks charmed by someone or something in the still shot from the casino/bar sky place.

They haven’t said anything about her movements after she was last seen. They’re being very closed lipped about it. It’s a very busy street with a lot of foot traffic even at night. So I’ll guess we see.

Our local lifestyle type programme just showed a lot of photos of her appealing for sightings/help.

We’re a small country with less than 450 unsolved disappearances since 1939(the oldest one on record).
 
So the family last had contact with her Saturday December 1st. The family look close and it was her brother's birthday on Tuesday and they didn't hear from her.

The police are examining a scene- they have interviewed the man she was with and whereby he is a person of interest, he isn't in custody.

She seemed to be staying close to the hostel she was staying at- I don't think she has taken off or gone hitch hiking or disappeared- it just doesn't seem likely.

I wonder if she was partying and took drugs and had a bad reaction? Caused a panic with whoever she was with? There is so much CCTV in that area that surely they can track her movements.

So it sounds like this man has murdered her.

Last seen with him and the police have “grave” concerns about her. Also no sign of her leaving the hotel which if she had cameras would of picked up on.

Sounds like her would of made some inappropriate pass at her and she rejected him and he couldn’t handle it.

Auckland City Police said the last known sighting of Grace was at 9.41pm at the Citylife Hotel, on Saturday, December 1 with a “male companion”. Officers had also identified an apartment at the city centre hotel as a location of interest.

Earlier this week, a potential witness told a local newspaper she saw a young woman resembling Ms Millane standing near the southern motorway in Manuka, about 14 miles from where she was last seen. The woman said: “Where she was standing, it was really bizarre and she was by herself — nobody around — just a girl on her own. She was in a very unusual place to stand.”

An apartment at the hotel was a place of interest and is the subject of a scene examination by police.

Detective Inspector Scott Beard appealed for anyone who was at the City LIfe Hotel who could provide information to contact police on 0800 676 255.
"At present we have spoken to a person and we still have no evidence of foul play."

No evidence of foul play sounds hopeful.
 
I think her own birthday was Sunday and her brother's was Tuesday. I'm afraid we're looking at a Carla Stefaniak all over again. How unfortunate and creepy. Both travelers and both last seen/heard from by friends/family the night before their birthday. I pray not, but it doesn't sound good to me.

Saturday night- her birthday the next day- in her early 20's- I wonder if she is the kind of person to experiment with drugs? Away from home and all that. I'd like to think she is partying somewhere however with the amount of media coverage- that would have come to light already.

With the area being so built up- there has to be more CCTV footage somewhere. I wonder if the scene they are searching is a long term let- or how it works- apartment in a hotel? Anyone know more?
