Just read her letter. She is not Catholic as it mentions being "saved and baptized". That's just not a Catholic thing to do. Not that her religion matters, but I always made the incorrect assumption that her Mexican background meant she was Catholic.

Hmm, I went back and her grandfather's obituary mentions his funeral was at a Catholic church.

Now I'm confused. :)

Still trying to catch up from the middle of thread 8, apologies if this has been posted or not even hers.. However,

Was AH's letter given to the public? Is that who's letter you're referring to? Is so, can you post the link?

has it been reported to whose po box the supposed letter from Abby was delivered?

edit to answer my own question:

from alreetlike link below conwaydailysun bbm ==> Zenya said she gets a "ton of mail" in her out of town post-office box — most of which is bills, but she also gets many cards from well wishers. Then came the letter from Abby. Zenya said "deep in her heart" she knew it was from Abby yet she had some doubt.

My gut feelings from this quote of ZH tells me the letter is NOT from AH, and intact a dupe from the perp. If she's receiving cards and well wishes from strangers.. Then that means the PO box address is listed publicly somewhere. This being found by the perp, and sent it to get LE of his/her trail.

I hope that's not the case.

If it was typed and they were trying to ascertain if it was written by Abby who knows who wrote it?

It may have been written by someone trying to put himself into the case who has nothing to do with it.
This has happened before where some nutter gets a kick out of hearing talk about his letter.
As we don't know what was written it is hard to fathom if it was from Abby or anyone who knows her.
I hate to say it, but if it someone she knows, I can't see then releasing her as she would be able to identify them.

I'm not entirely sure about that, dependent on who might have her and the circumstances. Guns a-blazin might look good on tv, but if this is an extended family member who has her at a moving location or she's being shuffled among a network of people, it might change how it's handled.

MOO. I don't see the use of all the resources being used, pressers, soliciting public assistance if they were negotiating with someone.

"Guns a-blazin" does look good on TV. But, I can tell you that's EXACTLY what we do in real life too.

Just like the case of Michelle Parker in Florida...LE busted down doors, etc. with SWAT team looking for her even knowing kids were inside. They don't just wait and hope.

As far as the PO Box goes...my point is not about Mom, but about LE. I would have thought the FBI would be checking all mail sources from the start. I think they may have neglected to ask her the right questions.

Why would they have to ask?
If they asked to check your mail you tell them hey bTW I have a po box.

If my child was missing Id be checking the mail every day. home and PO box.
Its not just another day in your life. Your kid is missing! Maybe she is trying to make contact.
Many ppl don't have their mail delivered to the home they have a po box.

All Just my personal OPINION!

You know maybe she wrote this letter at home the days before she decided to leave and mailed it later after she left!
Ill bet its handwritten!

I am thinking they never mentioned mail at all to her, or she would have said she had a PO box. Oversight by LE, IMO. No reason forMom to be thinking about mail at that time. Also, regular mail is pretty rare anyway.

Well me personally Id be waiting for the mail to come but that's just me.

reg mail is not rare! Not at my house anyway. we get mail every single day!

All Im saying here is mail is almost as important as a telephone when your child is missing! Its a form of communication!

Heck we don't even know if they get mail at their home or it all goes to the PO box so.....

"She has been a member of a local health club, her mother said, "and she exercises a lot."

She also likes to cook. "She makes the best scones," he father said. "Some of her favorite foods are arroz con pollo, and steak. I spoiled her, and her sister Sarah on filet mignon. Medium rare."

And, her mother said, Abby is a "deep thinker." "

I like that the parents are doing their best to personalize her.
She certainly comes across as a very caring, kind hearted girl.

Eileen...I get mail almost every day as well. It's rare when my mailbox is empty.

We get the occasional note to pick up our mail at the post office because we didn't check it often enough it was too full.

I don't care at all that the mom had a PO Box. I'm just saying if she's receiving lots of cards, etc. from strangers the PO Box was made known somehow which makes me wonder if the letter was really from Abby. Has it been said it was 100% from her? I haven't heard that.

Intelligent, creative, faithful and strong both mentally and physically. :D All great things to be and all things that will help HER keep the hope, too.

That makes a lot of sense. I think there may have been some miscommunication. JMO. I also believe that may be what LE was referring to when they said something to the effect that they received info that should've been known/discovered early in the investigation.

I'm not sure that it's been proven 100% that the letter was written by Abigail but LE believes it's "authentic."

Young said the letter had been examined by specialists and determined to be authentic. She said it was written in “a tone that Abby would have used” but released no other details about it.

Does that mean it's possible that the letter is fake? Maybe, but I doubt it.

"Member of local health club". This adds a whole other pool of individuals she could have contact with.

Ranch, when JY spoke of 'the tone' it was in response to a media question and I took it as her trying not to give details, but answer the question in a way that helped give confidence it was authentic to those listening.

I agree. The statement about "the tone" makes me believe that the content of the letter is what lends legitimacy to it. It's understandable that LE doesn't wish to release the contents of the letter because it could compromise the investigation. MOO.
