So, so sad!
Elizabeth's goal was to become a marine biologist. Here's a comforting perspective on the search from a family friend in this Boston Herald story.

Friends said recalling “Lizzi’s” love of the ocean helps them cope.

“We truly believe she’s in the ocean, and we’re just waiting for her to come back to shore,” said D____ D_____ of Westboro, a family friend.

A Dover man will be arraigned on Monday morning for second-degree murder in connection with the disappearance and death of University of New Hampshire student Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott of Westborough.

Seth Mazzaglia, 29, of Dover will be arraigned in Dover District Court at 10:45 a.m. as authorities continue to search for Marriott's body. He is being held at the Strafford County Jail in Dover.

so did he confess? I would think he did (and also think they can upgrade the second degree to first after they are able to find her remains and do an autopsy :-(

summer, so you think there is a witness to the suffocation?

I think that if the source is correct (above link), the girlfriend knows something.....but she is not necessarily a witness to the suffocation and/or strangulation

IMHO

strange...

(from the get go I have found this strange.. I think I even posted it after the presser where they said the fbi was involved just for extra helpers)

Everyone says such good things about this guy. I wonder if they were drinking and horsing around, and maybe he was showing off some of his martial arts (like submissive holds and such) moves, and he took it too far and strangled her accidentally? If he were drinking, I could see where maybe he didn't realize his strength at the time. Then he panicked and threw her body in the river?

This seems so weird/random to me, it reminds me of the Annie Le case -- "I just snapped" -- the lab tech that killed her was not someone anyone would have suspected, he didn't seem to have gone to work planning to kill anyone that day... he seemingly randomly went nuts and killed her violently and suddenly, then tried to hide the evidence.

Since they seem to know the cause of death, without the body, I assume he confessed. Would also seem likely that they have determined it was not premeditated, thus the 2nd degree murder charges.
Suffocation and/or strangulation wouldn't leave much evidence behind, so I can't see how they found enough evidence to charge him otherwise. He had to have broken down and told them what happened.
Sad.

Yet either can't, or won't say where she is?
Or is it presumed she was put into water?

Raymond Clark sexually assaulted Annie, then killed her presumably in an attempt to cover-up what he had done. Obviously we don't know what happened to Elizabeth, but that's what happened in Annie's case. Annie's death seemed so unbelievably senseless, the world is robbed of a young person who is so loved and has so much promise while the guy winds up in jail anyway - he didn't have to kill her.
