JUST IN: NH Governor Chris Sununu in a letter to court officials in Massachusetts says he has "grave concerns" about the handling of Harmony Montgomery's case in that state. Read the letter here:

Now we know how this happened and why Harmony slipped through the cracks. Great letter! There is more at the link.

"In fact, in December 2018, the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (MA DCF) requested that New Hampshire DCYF conduct a home study of Adam Montgomery and his then wife Kayla Montgomery. NH's DCYF Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children unit responded to MA DCF stating that in order to conduct the home study, additional information was needed regarding Adam Montgomery and his wife's progress and their engagement of services with MA DCF. This is a standard request in such cross-border cases, but while NH DCYF was waiting for the necessary information, a court in Lawrence, Massachusetts abruptly gave sole custody of Harmony to her father in February of 2019."

ETA: for those don't know, a "home study" is the application and investigation process that DCYF does to make sure a foster family or placement is safe for licensing or placement of a child. This includes background checks, references, home inspections, financials, medical reports and loads of other info.

While I appreciate Gov Sununu's candor in her great letter to MA Chief Justice Budd, I hope it does not backfire when AM's defense claims his client-- deemed a monstrous drug dealer, horrible individual, and dangerous criminal, by the Governor, will not be afforded a fair trial. We're hearing this now in Florida after the alleged murderer of Ryan Rogers was called a monster by the Police Chief during the presser. AM has already had enough breaks and as much as I agree with the Gov, he needs no added help!

That letter is right on. Why did the judge rule that way? What information was put before the judge? What informations was omitted? And as stated over and over here, why was there no interstate compact, and also why wasn't there an assessment of AM and KM

Why was this dangerous criminal drug addict given ABRUPT custody of Harmony? Why did Mass abandon the home study request? Why? The Judge needs to be questioned, DCF needs to answer for this. We have to find out and prevent this from happening.

Exactly! I can only guess as to why the ICPC and Home Study was not done. Termination of parental rights for the Mother was finalized and they wanted to get her out of the system and didn't want to wait on the ICPC, would be my best guess (MOO). ICPC's and Home Study's can take a very long time. Once TPR is complete there is a big push to get the kids adopted or with a relative and out of the system. Even if DCYF recommended sending her to AM, the Judge never should have approved it. The Judge always has the final say in everything in a Dependency case.

This case sickens me to the core. Poor child. I personally feel (all imo, based off of so called dads actions) that the outcome will not be good, 2 years gone and she wasn’t even reported missing yet? As a mother to 4 kids ages 2-14 the only thing that goes through my mind is how in the world was nothing done in 2 YEARS! Had she been reported by whoever the heck 2 darn years ago she might’ve been found already!? How as a parent is this “dad” so self centered he cannot even tell the truth about where she is? With his criminal record how was he even able to obtain sole custody of harmony? This is just beyond messed up and my heart hurts for this little girl and for those who actually cared about her. Someone knows something and dads ex needs to say what she knows cuz I’m sure it’s more than what she’s saying. Sorry if I sound a little harsh, but this is just ridiculous, these poor children keep going “missing” and somehow “no one knows anything” - insert eye roll-
I hope she is alive and just ran the heck away from her violent dad and is safe and find her way to LE. Very very sad case

Is this new? I don't have a Dec 2019 incident of abuse on the timeline. Or, what incident were they investigating in Dec 2019?

As a result of your judge's decision, New Hampshire officials were not afforded the ability to monitor Harmony's safety. Had the court required that an Interstate Compact home study be completed, there would have been more checks in the system to help ensure Harmony's safety when she was moved to New Hampshire such as continued oversight on the family. More critically, had New Hampshire had this in place when responding and investigating the alleged incident of abuse in December of 2019, the result would likely have been very different for Harmony.

You're right, I think. December of 2019 is supposedly (approximately) when Kayla claims to have last seen Harmony. She said that Adam drove Harmony to her mother in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Perhaps there was an altercation at Christmas with KM's family -- maybe not, I think they spent Thanksgiving with that side of the family and don't recall a Dec incident either...
