It's also not uncommon to be focused on something else for 10 or 15 minutes and not notice right away that the child is out of sight.
I see parents all the time engaged in conversation with each other while their kids are playing nearby and nobody is paying attention to the kids.
This mom did nothing different than what many other parents do.
Nobody expects their child to disappear within 10 minutes.
