Something is just not sitting right with me concerning this situation.. I can't put my finger on it, but just can't shake the hinky feeling I have

-yeah, a same day one way ticket paid in cash by a 15yr old kid...
Definitely true this..Conductors on NJT face-to-face ask for your ticket. Though he may have been traveling before he was reported missing.Amtrak security is much tighter than the subway system & NJ Transit. I'm surprised that a conductor didn't notice him.
It's easy actually. NJ Transit to Trenton. Switch to NJ Transit Light Rail/Riverline which does go to the Rand Transportation Center in Camden. One of last stops. How do you get from Penn NYC to Camden? Take a NJ Transit train from NYC to Trenton then SEPTA train? Camden does not give him any alternatives to go beyond the area and is very sketchy.
I am not familiar with the railways around Philly only NY.
When I commuted on NJ Transit or the PATH I always saw HS or college kids with backpacks either going/coming from school or going into the City. He’d just blend in to me if I saw him.
From Camden, he could have gone by train into Philly. There is a bus station there on Filbert Street. Or he could have gone to 30th Street Station where Amtrak and Septa have hubs. Also possible Septa connections in Center City. Also he could go farther east into NJ from Camden to Haddonfield, Collingswood, Lindenwold to name a few stops on PATCO LINE.He was traveling before he was reported missing. He had 3 days at least. He disappeared a week ago and the picture in Camden was taken Saturday and just released today. He has $1,000 cash on him. Camden is not good. Where could he have gone from there, here it is Wednesday already.
It seems that Thomas has been riding mass transit on the east coast for a week now. It seems that he doesn't have a destination or objective in mind. Did he runaway from home to prove something to himself or to his parents. This runaway situation might be some type of test or punishment by his parents for poor grades. The story of him having $1k from investing lawn mowing money could be plausible but sounds fishy to me. The main thing is for Thomas to come home safely.
Or from philly....a greyhound to Cali.....that’s how I went.
The train in the picture behind him in Camden is of the River Line. That line is above ground in Camden. If he were headed to PATCO, which is at the same station, he would need to head underground. It makes more sense to me that at this point he wasn't headed into Philly since, you are correct, he could have taken Septa from Trenton to 30th Street Station, Philadelphia instead of routing through Camden. Maybe he doesn't really have a destination and is just being a (forgive this) brat about teaching his parents some kind of lesson. Or, on the other hand, if he is headed to some place specific, he's doing so in a roundabout way to throw people off. I don't know...If his parents know he's safe then he must be communicating with them somehow anyway. He could have easily done that from NYC. Also, why didn’t he take the train to Philly from NYC (If Philly was his destination). Why would he backtrack to Camden? Finding him in Camden makes no sense to me when he was already in NYC with far more transportation options and a good 3 days of leaving the area before the public became aware he was missing.

He could have done NJ Transit to Trenton and SEPTA to Philly from Trenton as well though. No ID needed then either. That is, if his destination was Philly.I am guessing it is because he couldn't get on an Amtrak train. All people 15+ need an id to ride. The only other way is through jersey like what I assume he did. NJ transit to trenton, riverline to camden, patco into philly - no ID required.
I think he has to be fairly savvy to travel from home to Denville to Newark to Penn Station to Trenton to Camden. Lots of train changes and can be a little intimidating if not familiar with it in some way. Plus he lives in a town that has a train station which could easily get him to Secaucus NJ and them to Penn Station, or to Hoboken NJ and then to lower Manhattan. He seems to have chosen these roundabout and south-north-south routes for a reason. jmoMaybe he isn’t as travel savvy as his parents have made him out to be. Which would be understandable considering he’s only a teenager. Just because he boarded a plane and flew on his own once doesn’t mean he is familiar with traveling alone domestically.
I'm not sure what you mean "from true crime". If it's a mainstream media article it's fine. If not can you provide some more info. please? tiaAlso, can I post an article about him from true crime?
