I emailed Rocky Wells at the Doe Network. I will let everyone know what he has to say.

I also read that her body was burnt to probably conceal evidence. Maybe if this UID is Brittany, maybe the tube that was inserted in her chest was burned, just a guess.

I was wondering about the burning too- I just didn't know if with a tube like that if there would be a hole in the chest cavity or other bone markings to determine surgery.

It's so sad that there are so many possible matches to the UID- children being thrown away is so beyond my comprehension.

I got an email back from Rocky Wells at the Doe Network:

I checked and found that Law Enforcement has already looked at this posibility.
Rocky
So I emailed him this :I take it that it was ruled out??
He replied back: "We have no ruling on it at this time."

Rock

So do I contact some of the other links at the bottom of the UID's page or just leave it alone?:waitasec:

It's the face of a mystery girl, probably 5 to 8 years old, whose charred skeletal remains were found in a wooded area of Monmouth County, N.J., in 2005. She probably disappeared at least a year before that.

The bust was unveiled Tuesday as the cameras of America's Most Wanted rolled in the South Philadelphia home of renowned forensic sculptor Frank Bender.

I pray the bust created by Mr. Bender is the clue it takes to identify this little angel.

(Mr. Bender did the bust of John List and it was so right on, it was amazing. He is a gifted man.)

Here is the bust that was created.

Thanks Sporky!

Having it here to view also makes it easier to keep for comparisons on the thread.

I Think this is unlikely as well . I do think this child has good chance at being ID'ed by getting media exposure. And getting her picture out there I know somewhere somebody is asking about this child. The soles of those shoes look pretty new. Air force 1's arent sold in all store's either.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Force_1_(shoe) So I searched for a shoe to find when it was made and found this. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...=/images?q=air+force+1+black&gbv=2&hl=en&sa=X So i went farter with my search and found thishttp://niketalk.yuku.com/topic/13987/t/Nike-Release-Dates-2005-UPDATED.html And found you can search search the years and exact dates these shoes where released . So The Le could narrow down where shoe was from(or where the shoes came from) by tracking the shoes ,I also noted the lace up on the picture and I think the store laced up the shoes. So the little girl was most likely present when the shoes where bought.. I will try and find all the release dates for that shoe later today ,So far i have 7/05 but she was found in march and est.2001-2004 as to how long she been dead. Also the shoe model number is 306353-01 in case anybody whats to check that out.

Hi Soul - great sleuthing! From the Nike site (nike.com - return policy) here's how to find the date of manufacture (I assume LE has the shoes and could get the info from the tag inside):

If your shoe has the old tag, the first two numbers in the manufacturing date represent the year, the middle two numbers represent the month and the last two numbers represent the day. If you have the new tag, the manufacturing date is above the bar code and to the left.

The gender question crossed my mind too, but I believe barrettes were found with the body and boys would not have had them.

I'm probably behind on the posts and this has been said...but the information link for DOE said that the (most likely) gender and race had been determined through DNA.

I did a few searches and did not come up with any threads on this girl.
It has been in the news lately because LE finally released a bust of what the little girl might have looked like.

A hunter found her in March 2005. Her remains were recovered along with a small Nike shoe and the remains of a bag with the picture of Slyvester on it.

LE seems to think the killer was not familar with the area.

The same guy who worked on the Precious Doe case is working this one too trying to find out who this girl is.

Missing since 2000 from North Carolina, Asha Jaquilla Degree - 9 years old.
Weight matches, height is off by about 4 inches.
http://charleyproject.org/cases/d/degree_asha.html

Also, my 3 year old is in a child's size 7 1/2 shoe, but he is the size of a five year old. Girls being smaller than boys, usually, the shoe size seems right for the age they are giving.

I live 45 minutes or so from where this body was discovered. And that area is part of the Pine Barrens, which makes up millions of acres of desolate sandy forrest filled with pine trees in southern and central NJ. I really dont think someone from out of state would find that spot to dump a body accidentally.I would bet it is someone with ties to the area. Freehold is not too far from the shore, and its about 10-15 miles away from a popular kids spot Six Flags Great Adventure located in Jackson,NJ. (Although i dont recall hearing of any kids missing from there)

Actually, heres a link to a NJ article on the case.
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2007/08/cops_still_seeking_to_identify.html

It says she may have died between 2001 & 2004,and it also says a hunter discovered her body, which further makes me think that it the person who put her body there knew the area. The area of the pine barrens there is a popular deer hunting area, and not readily accessible for people just driving by

I just posted this in 'unidentified' section yesterday. It is so sad reading the things they found with her remains - little tokens of a little girl. In situation like this where the child does not match missing persons files I always start to assume it was most likely the parent(s) who killed their child, never reported her missing and just went on with their lives.
