Las Vegas boy’s death ruled a homicide, months after mom charged

More than eight months after Daniel Theriot’s mother, along with her boyfriend, was charged with murder, the Clark County coroner’s office officially ruled that the 3-year-old’s death was a homicide.
The coroner’s office on Thursday said Daniel died from blunt force trauma....

Smith eventually led investigators to Daniel’s body, where she and Oxford had placed him in a “large white fiberglass shell of an apparent appliance” in a remote area near the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Las Vegas man pleads guilty to murder in 3-year-old’s death

A Las Vegas man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a second-degree murder charge in the death of a 3-year-old boy last year.

Joshua Oxford, 42, also pleaded guilty to child abuse, neglect or endangerment with substantial bodily harm, according to Deputy Public Defender Scott Coffee. Oxford faces up to 25 years behind bars on the murder charge and an additional 20 years on the child abuse charge at a sentencing next month.

Las Vegas judge sentences man 16 to 45 years in death of toddler


LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- A man suspected in the death of his girlfriend's toddler was sentenced to 16 to 45 in prison by a Las Vegas judge on Wednesday.

Joshua Oxford, 42, was sentenced by Judge Michael Villani in District Court. On Oct. 2, Oxford entered a plea for one count of second-degree murder and one count of child abuse, neglect or endangerment with substantial bodily harm.
