First of all, I want to thank everyone who has posted comments regarding my son, James on this website...for keeping his memory alive. People have asked many legitimate questions about James' life and the circumstances of his disappearance. I'd like to clarify a few things. Several years ago, James' case was moved from the LVPD Missing Persons Dept. to Homicide. Detectives is San Bernardino County & Las Vegas have both stated to me that they do not believe James committed suicide but was a victim of foul play. However, we will really never know what actually happened to James on that fateful day. There has been no further updates on his case to report. My DNA is registered with the FBI in case they do find any identifiable remains. For the record, James was not married and did not have a child. When he was in the Army, he was trained to be an Airport Firefighter; did a tour in Haiti. After the Army, he worked as a Firefighter and Air/Sea Rescue in the Marshall Islands. James was in the business to save lives; why would he take his own? He left that job, came to Vegas for a little R&R before plans to head to Guam for a new job there. He wanted to see his best friend in Huntington Beach before going; thus, his drive towards California. He got a late start so decided to spend the night at Buffalo Bills Casino in Primm. The San Bernardino Police from Barstow were wonderful with their search efforts and helping me retrieve James' belongings. However, the Las Vegas Police failed me miserably. They refused to file a Missing Person's Report until the Detective in San Benardino intervened on my behalf. They REFUSED to investigate at the time...thus, no forensics, no interviews, no searches...nothing! However, the Coroner's Office have been very kind to me in keeping me informed and responding to my emails. Buffalo Bill's Casino refused to answer any of my questions regarding the condition of his room, who found the backpack, and claimed videotapes were "not available". There is a huge casino lobby in Vegas to protect their reputations and obviously even controls the local media. I tried to get the story of Jame's disappearance in the news; but, no one would pick up the story. Very frustrating.
I miss James very much and pray that someday I will have some answers. Thank you all for caring.
