Dang it! Where is Steven? His disappearance is so mysterious. I'm glad to have Steven's thread bumped.

One of my "pet" cases, you know!.

Apparently, there's a bit of confusion.

The remains that turned out to be animal bones ARE NOT the bones found just SW of Vegas last week (which ARE human).

Where was there confusion?

<mod snip> was VERY hopeful that the remains found in SW Vegas were the dog bones.

(Some people read "newest message first".....so they missed the locations and discussions.)

Gotcha - thanks. I thought I was going blind!

Still no news on the remains found in SW Vegas.

It was my mistake. When I posted "dog bones" to your link, I should have explained right there, that it referred to the remains found in California, rather than the confirmed human remains found SW of Vegas.

A little off topic...but I'm looking for websites with access to Google maps "Archives" I want to look at images from one year to another...anybody have any ideas???

Off topic:

Kia Welch (scroll down -- I couldn't get a pointer to just her) http://nevadachildseekers.org/missing-child-photos/

From the flyer: "KIA WAS LAST SEEN IN THE VICINITY OF CIMARRON AND FLAMINGO. SHE WAS WEARING A DARK BLUE SPRING VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL HOODIE, DARK BLUE JEANS, AND LIME GREEN CONVERSE SHOES. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON HER WHEREABOUTS PLEASE CONTACT METRO PD OR NCS."

She's the daughter of a good friend's close friend and is described as not being the kind to run away -- but she may have run away after a dispute over grades. I'm going to send sent her info about WS and all the missing persons resources, but I wanted to post this since I know so many of you are in the area.

I guess there's no reason to think she's in danger at this point, but her mother is frantic.

She's been missing 5 days, and a check of Google News shows nothing's been reported in the Vegas papers or TV stations.

Are 17 year old girls treated like willing adults in Vegas, now?

Hate to say it, but runaways are pretty much ignored in the press.

Only one word matters: "endangered".

If this was MY child missing in the Vegas area, I'd contact YESCO (Young Electric Sign Company) in Vegas, and have her picture put on their electronic billboards, with the word MISSING, her name, and one number to call. It's expensive, but it'll get the word out.

"BOUNTIFUL — Rolf D. Koecher, executive editor of the Davis County Clipper, died unexpectedly Thursday of a short illness.

Koecher, 61, led the editorial staff at the more than 10,000-circulation newspaper for the past 12 years and spent the last 14 months doing what he could to search for his son, Steven Koecher, who disappeared from the Henderson, Nev., area Dec. 13, 2009."

RIP Mr. Koecher-I dont mean to sound trite, but I am envious that he now knows what happened to his beloved son.

This family has been through so much-I wish them all some peace.

Sending prayers and sincere condolences to the Koecher family. I'm so sorry for your loss.

So sad for the family. My prayers and condolences go out to them.

I still check Steven's thread a couple times a day. I don't have any new ideas, but not a day goes by that I don't think about him.

"The editor of the Davis County Clipper, who spent the past 14 months looking for his son, died Thursday hours after being admitted to a hospital.

Rolf Koecher, 61, may have suffered from toxic shock syndrome, said Clipper owner and publisher Gail Stahle. Stahle said Koecher felt ill for days. He missed work Wednesday but hoped to return Thursday, Stahl said.

Then Koecher’s wife, Deanne, called Stahle on Thursday morning to say her husband died. Deanne Koecher said her husband arrived at a hospital and doctors found he had almost no white blood cells and evidence of a bacterial infection, Stahle said.

“Deanne told me it shut down his kidneys and shut down his heart,” Stahle said."

two weeks ago the couple went to St. George to film a forthcoming program for the Discovery Channel.

The program is apparently "Disappeared", for the Investigation Discovery cable channel. In addition to the family, law enforcement and media have been working on the show.

Omg, this is very sad. RIP Rolf. Prayers and condolences for his family.
