His phone dialed his voicemail number on Dec 14th.

Of course, we don't know how many *incoming* calls/texts there were on the 13th and 14th.

I recommended that Steven's family call whatever LE they're in contact with and relate what I learned today. I think there is something in the threads from family that says Steven has been a little depressed.
But we, WS, took that to mean, well, of course, he is only marginally employed, hasn't paid the rent or utilities, behind in the car payment, who wouldn't be depressed.

If this is Steven, then I am going to harken back to the Jody King case from June last year-Jody disappeared after a car accident in CT and washed out of a drainpipe, deceased, where he hid himself in the midst of a paranoid episode. It was not until the day before his remains were discovered that we had all of the pieces on Jody that would have led to a conclusion like that-what is terribly hard in situations like Jody's is that no one wants to air their laundry or someone else's on the WWW.

I reviewed Steven's threads (quickly I confess) and I see while we asked about depression and hinted at mental illness, no one seems to have run a check for any past history that might indicate he was chemically imbalanced or even schizophrenic. Jody was 28-but it turns out, of course, that the incident that took his life was not the first incident where he had shown signs of a troubled mind.

Has anyone applied this yardstick to Steven and have I missed it? I do not want to cause his family undue stress, but if Steven is not well than he is especially vulnerable to the Vegas streets I would think....

I remember Jody King's situation very well.
Steven's family seem a little guarded about some things.
But it has been over a month now,
unless there is some very good clue that we do not know about,
(I understand it, Naegle)
time to make a simple announcement.

I'm inclined to agree with you webrocket - up to a point. I feel that - IF THE IHOP GUY IS STEVEN - something pushed him over the edge. Perhaps some type of traumatic event - not a bad decision. IDK - I'm not an expert in this area. But I know there's no way for any of us to know what is happening in Steven's head if he has suffered some type of breakdown.

That being said, I DO NOT believe he intentionally burned any bridges. I do feel he may currently be at risk and needs assistance ASAP.

I thought the activity on the 14th was someone checking voicemail.
 
Well if he was receiving texts, at least his phone would show those, and the authorities might be able to get those.

Naegle - Where there incoming/outgoing texts on his phone during the time he was missing?

I'm too tired and sick to go back and look now. But I don't recall the term "depressed" ever being used by the family. I recall Steven's friend from TX saying he thought Steven sounded a little down the las time they spoke.

Is there any new information? Has the old, inaccurate stuff been removed yet? Any word on the unidentified body found in the Grand Canyon about 10 days ago?

This was the first I had even heard of this so I'm assuming its hogwash. Fairy, excellent detective work on your part. I have read back pretty far but cannot find the info about what exactly was in the car. Toys for his neice and nephew...there was a boys toy and a girls toy? I saw mention of several coats.

Im going back to read more so as not to stop the brainstorming process here with my questions.

This isn't one of the finer areas of our fair city, particularly at night. I wouldn't venture out to speak to the homeless folks - even with my son and my husband. PLUS, if Steven is there, it will be best handled by professionals who know what they're doing.

FYI - this area is referred to as the Boulder Strip. The casinos are perfectly fine and safe. I would not say the same about the surrounding area.

A male body was indeed found at the Grand Canyon on Jan. 5, 2010. Doesn't look as if identification was made yet.

Thanks, I realized that about 2 seconds after I posted it. I had hoped I deleted fast enough, but apparently not. Maybe I should go to sleep. :)
