Okay, this is off topic, please excuse the diversion, but does anyone else find SassyBenton's photo (is that an avatar???) hilarious? I laugh everytime I see it. Who thinks these things up???

I was thinking along the same lines, maybe he was working as a process server?

To serve process in Nevada, particularly in Clark County, you must be registered with the LVMPD and employed by a company with a process license issued by the Nevada Private Investigator's Board. The LVMPD card, in particular, takes several weeks to acquire.

Thank you swjaxon.

I have to say, once again, I believe Steven's errand in SCA that day began in St. George.

If it started in St. george, think it was someone he knew pretty well?

Yes!!!!!!! This board has always seemed pretty conservative in discussing non POIs. Other board I read here on WS seem to be more lax. My suspicions have always fallen on a "friend". Still trying to decide if that friend just knows more than he's sharing or if he somehow set him up. If I use my imagination I can come up with scenarios where there could be motive.

That is my opinion. But if LE doesn't dig a little deeper, we will never know. There doesn't seem to be any sense of urgency in solving Steven's case. :(

Curious about what the motives could be? Without naming names -

I know he seems the most likely, considering. But I don't believe he's directly involved. I do continue to wonder, though, if he knows more than he's said. Even at that, he may not KNOW he knows more than he thinks he knows. KWIM?

So strange of a case. I lived in the neighborhood where SK lived for then years. I now have a daughter in the same neighborhood. She lives about 2-3 blks. from where he lived. She talked to friends that lived 2 doors down from SK, they did not know he was missing, never questioned-strange to me. I contacted people there that I knew, no one knew much...too odd.

If he was involved by setting him up somehow I think it had to do with some aspect of their relationship that would have caused him great embarassment if it became public. To me, it seems like SK was very egar to please him. I do not think SK had the power in this relationship. This person may have felt he had a lot to lose if his secrets were made public. In the LDS religion there is a huge emphasis on being perfect. Also in the LDS religion people's entire lives are very intertwined with church leaving the church or being excommunicated can mean loss of one's entire social and sometmes professional network. I do not mean to offend anyone. I do not like to discuss religion but I thnk it's important to this case. Half of my family is LDS so I make these statements purely based on my life experiences. If someone was involved in something that would cause them to be excommunicated if it was found out they may go to great measures to keep it from coming out. Were they gay lovers? Was he involved in illegal affairs that he got SK involved in and SK freaked out and threatened to rat him out? These are just a few things that have gone through my head. it seems to make sense to me though.

Sorry for typos. I'm on my iPhone.

I had thought maybe they both were gay...and they were keeping each other's secret. And/or maybe working some kind of "escort" service? Of course, I have no idea...but just puttin' that out there.

Agreed. It seems to me that after 18 months of missing without a trace, it might be time to pull cell phone records of people who called Steve in the days leading up to his disappearance. I would be willing to bet there is a 702 area code in there somewhere...

Well it wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened, I am sure.

I agree. I just can't help but think the answer has been right under their noses all along, they're just not seeing it.

If it turns out that Steven was the victim of a crime, there are a lot of officials who stand to look very foolish when it's finally revealed. Especially if there are other victims.

I could spend hours talking about this, but I live in Henderson and will keep my opinions to myself...

Me too! But here we have Henderson, Vegas and St. George "working" the case.

I have never been one to keep my opinions to myself - solicited or not. ;)

JMHO
I still have questions about the LL and what SK was doing or planning to do to come up with the back rent. Was he doing something (pick ups, deliveries) for the LL? Was the number of calls from the LL to SK unreasonable? Was he asking about the back rent or giving further directions?

Well now, those are some great questions! Can't tell you how much I wish we had the answers!!!

Last night I watched the documentary Sons of Perdition, a film about exiled members (mainly teen boys) of the FLDS in Colorado City. One thing that struck me about the documentary is that it stated that most exiles end up in St. George, UT. My mind immediately went to Steven.

There have been (it seems like) hundreds of theories about what Steven could have been doing on his long drives and in Henderson. Let me throw this one in - could he have been trying to help someone hide?

Could be. But most likely, it wouldn't be any of those boys. They are forcibly cast out by their own people, so they don't really have anyone to hide from. Sadly, their challenge is more about learning how to live out in the open.
