Today's round of questions are being submitted to Naegle right now.

I'll post them, when she replies.

This is the homeless camp, right next door to the Salvation Army?
http://snurl.com/u50mg

Yes - this is it. It's an abandoned car/rv/boat wash. I haven't noticed a Salvation Army building anywhere nearby, but I haven't really been looking for that. I'll check tomorrow. That could easily explain why Steven would be wearing different clothes than he was last seen in.

I've been by this car wash several times now and never see any people! But there are definitely signs that people are there. There's tons of stuff under those bays - which you can see from either end. But I haven't even seen any people loitering nearby. Also, I think I mentioned that the front entrance off of Boulder Highway is behind a locked fence, so I'm wondering how anyone "living" there is getting in and out. I'll see tomorrow if there's another way in from behind - that might lead me to another good area to go by regularly.

Couldn't see much today as it was dark and raining by the time I went through the area. There were plenty of people walking around (along Boulder Highway) but they all had hats or hoods on - so their faces are really hard to see! The Sienna Suites are down past Sam's Town - a bit further than I thought - and the opposite direction from the IHOP & camp. But still close to the area I've been going through. It's probably nothing but it has me intrigued.

You all have done some great work today!

Before DH talked to either parent Steve's dad called Steve to see what was up and what the message from his landloard was about. Steve's dad told DH that when he called Steve he was shopping and he ask how things were going and Steve said fine. DH said his dad ask him about money and Steve said everything was fine. Then dad told him that the landloard had left them a message that Steve was three months behind. Steve was upset and said he wasn't THREE months behind. His dad said, well how much do you owe then? Steve replied it was about one thousand. His dad said, that sounds like about three months. His dad then said he heard Steve say something like, oh dad... as he took the phone away from his ear and hung up on him.

Thank you so much stillLooking for all your valuable insights here!

The part of your post above really has me thinking. I had asked before if there was any tension between Steven and his Mom when she sent him money - but never got an answer. I'm sure it was difficult for him to be in a position to need help from his parents and I can see where that may have been a trigger for him to get it together and perhaps start over.

It has me thinking maybe he did just walk away and will contact his family when he feels he's in a better position. Then......

that got me to thinking that since Steven's expertise is in communications and newspapers in general, we should think of a way to determine if he has sought work with various LV publications or news outlets. We only have one actual newspaper which does have a website. All the news stations have websites as well. There are also a few smaller weekly papers.

When Google drove by, the gate was unlocked.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store is at 4305 Boulder, so it's about a block away. BUT....there's an RV Park right behind the old car wash. We're RVers, and there can be a real "mix" of people in the larger parks, even those that proclaim themselves as "resorts". places. I don't know if the RV Park is still open, but if it is, giving a flyer to the office people might be a great idea. What better way to lay low, than to stay in a permanently-parked old travel trailer with someone else?

Looks like the RV park is still open:
Arizona Charlie's East

The RV park is still there - I think it may belong to the Arizona Charlies resort. I'll go by there with a poster this weekend with my DH or DS. I feel I should not go alone!

In looking at rvparkreviews.com, it sounds like one of the nicer ones in Vegas....but it also doesn't look like a place we'd stay in (unless we got sent there). No wifi, no cable TV. For $50+ a night, you'd think they'd have better facilities.

It shouldn't be scary at the office or front area. That's the tourists. If they've got permanent residents, they're in the back. They're always in the back.

I have nothing really helpful to add here, everyone else has been doing a great job.

In my opinion, I think this news article sheds a lot more light on what was going on in Steve's life. He was not being truthful with his father and was probably upset that his debts were brought to his father's attention. (Not that the landlord was not correct to do this) So Steve is 3 months behind on rent, and spoke to both his father and mother about it in the days preceding his disappearance. But he was working and presumably drawing some salary, so he did have some money to spend. We know he was driving a lot and therefor buying fuel, but what was his purpose on the drives? I would not think that someone in his circumstances would be driving aimlessly just to think, he must have had some plan in mind to better his financial circumstances.

I think he could have had something in the works to cure his financial problems but didn't want to tell his parents what it was yet. In my opinion he was in LV to see about making money - either a job or some kind of 1 shot project - or about moving there if he thought he could improve his life by doing so. I don't think he would intentionally disappear for this long, so something happened to him but I'm not convinced it was due to his reason for being in LV in the first place.

Ok Bossy Pants. If I'm feeling brave enough tomorrow - I'll drop a poster off there on my way home.

Here's a new question and I REALLY NEED an answer since I'm one of the few "boots on the ground" here between searches.

I just printed the missing poster from the Project Jason website - the one I was using on Saturday doesn't seem to be on the FB page anymore. I really like this PJ poster as it has several different photos of Steven. BUT...it says to call the St. George PD. Now, if I or someone else in Vegas spots Steven walking down the street or at the IHOP or whatever, I want to call whoever can get here the fastest - and that is NOT the SGPD. So, what's the plan here?

I like that poster, too! Maybe ALSO write this on it, in red, in the top margin? I dunno. I'm just living up to a Bossy Pants reputation ;)

Henderson Nevada Police: 702-267-5000
Las Vegas Police: (702) 229-2907 or (702) 828-3111

I just went over to Project Jason, hoping that I could contact whoever made the poster, to add the information. I see, on their Steven page, they even have two numbers listed for the LVPD. BUT...when I tried to register, it rejected me, saying "registration disabled".

Since the new news article links to THAT poster, it'd be great to get it changed.

Any of our WONDERFULLY TALENTED GRAPHICS ARTISTS available to make the additions and then (if registered) sent it in to Project Jason?

Call me Bossy Helpless.

It's ok - I have the other numbers and will add them to the new poster. It really is a great poster. For my own self and for Steven's own good, I just want to know which department has the jurisdiction in this case.

I'm trying so hard to imagine myself chasing Steven down the Boulder Highway in high-heels and a skirt so he doesn't get away. I think I can do it, but it won't be pretty and LVMPD may very well wind up taking ME away!

I am not sure how true this is, but I just want to point out that at the end of the article they say that Nevada Center for Missing Loved Ones was responsible for the helicopter and ATV search. So maybe this disproves our theories regarding LE having a newly sparked interest that warranted the search?

I'll try to find the original story - but IIRC, LV Metro and the Henderson PD were involved in that search - air and ground. It's quite an expense, so I was thinking they had a reason to do it. Or at least they thought they did.

I'm not entirely sure, but I really don't know if the Nevada Center for Missing Loved Ones has the resources for this kind of search???

But you wouldn't be missing until after they got their hands on you. Wait! Maybe THEY are hiding people?

Other sources say that LE was involved in the 30 Dec search and thereafter; see the timeline. I've tried to document every search, and who ws involved.

Yeah I was definitely thinking it was LE that did the search so I was confused when I read in the article that it was a result of efforts by the Nevada Center for Missing Loved Ones, that's why I thought I'd bring it up to you guys. Thanks!
