Carroll expected to request $10M+ in damages

In filings to the court, Carroll's lawyers have indicated they're seeking at least $10 million in damages, but their statements to the jury have reflected a potentially higher number based on Trump's repeated defamatory statements during the two-week jury trial.

Carroll's lawyers argued that Trump made 22 defamatory statements last Tuesday, when opening arguments were delivered in the case, and that overall he's made more than 100 defamatory statements, both in and out of court, during the two-week trial.

"Think about that when you consider how much money it will take to get him to stop," Carroll's lawyer Shawn Crowley told the jury earlier.

Trump arrives at courthouse

Former President Trump has arrived at the courthouse for closing arguments this morning.

Jurors are expected to begin deliberations today after attorneys for Trump and E. Jean Carroll deliver their closings.

Carroll proceedings are starting, w/closing arguments expected now. Trump is seated at defense table.Judge Kaplan: "No one in the courtroom is to say anything except for opposing counsel...there are to be no interruptions by anybody else. No audible comments by anybody else."

Judge Kaplan to Alina Habba: "You are on the verge of spending some time in the lockup. Now, sit down."This came after Madaio and Habba were arguing to include a slide showing tweets they hadn't entered as evidence.

Kaplan criticizes defense for tardiness

Kaplan admonished defense lawyers for being late to the hearing, telling Trump attorney Alina Habba that court began 10 minutes ago.

Trump arrived immediately after her and took a seat.

Friday's proceedings off to a rocky start

In a tense exchange over entering some social media posts into evidence, Kaplan told Habba that she was "on the verge of spending some time in the lockup" and told her to "sit down".

Jury enters after a late start

The jury was brought in after a late entrance from the defense.

Judge Kaplan said the jury will hear closing arguments from both sides this morning, set to last between two and three hours total. He said he expects the jury can deliberate during lunch later this afternoon.

The judge has finished giving the jury instruction and has asked both Carroll and Trump's lawyers to stay close by as they await a decision. Once a verdict is reached, the court will wait 45 minutes for the people to return to the courtroom.

Kaplan said that if the jury does not decide by 4:30 p.m. today, the court will break for the day.

The jury began deliberating at 1:40 p.m.

I got this from another article:

The judge gave the parties 45 minutes to get lunch, so the court will not accept a jury note or a verdict until starting at 2:25pm ET.

So they will probably start deliberating about 2:30pm.... just sayin' :D

So, this is what trump did right after he walked out of the courtroom .....

After walking out of the courtroom earlier this morning, Trump posted two dozen times on his Truth Social account as closing arguments for his defense began.

Several of the posts include articles that Trump seemingly wished to have had included in the trial, highlighting negative allegations toward Carroll.

Trump also posted attacking Kaplan, calling him a "Clinton-appointed" judge who "has so far been unable to see clearly because of his absolute hatred of Donald J. Trump (ME!)."
