Mr. Gillis was last seen wearing a white American Eagle v-neck shirt with black stripes and short sleeves, blue Levi boot cut jeans, and red Nike Air high top sneakers. He may also have been wearing a reversible black or red L.L. Bean coat and carrying and orange and black day pack.

Found these images of the coat and backpack, thought they would be good to have here.

I find it odd he told AT he was waiting for a ride. Who? Seems the focus should be on this AT person. He supposedly saw him twice. Supposedly offering him a ride twice to which he was refused twice. Saying he was waiting for his ride, yet he's still out there walking when AT comes back from dropping his cousin off.

What if, AT went back a 3rd time, after the news editor saw him and drove to the police station to report the incident?

Somewhere along the line, that backpack and coat should have turned up again if it was all innocently left behind, either in the friend's vehicle or at the party site. There would be no reason for anyone finding it to NOT turn it in.

Thanks Seajay & Tarabull for understanding what I was saying about the significance of the missing backpack & coat.

In my opinion, if the newspaper editor was correct, that Colin was NOT wearing a coat & did NOT have a backpack but his family is certain he left that night with them ... then someone knows exactly where they are & there's a reason they've kept quiet about them! I'm sorry I just can't let this go!

A few posts earlier Andalso asked similar questions. I can't help wonder - if A.T. had any involvement, why tell LE he saw Colin that night at all? I believe he offered his info. pretty early on - when they were still actively searching those first few days. When everyone was hopeful they'd find Colin alive.

What if A.T. did see him twice, but the scenario was different? He might have wanted to cover the trail in case anyone witnessed him talking to Colin. What if the first time he saw him he fought with him and thought he killed him and stole the backpack and jacket leaving Colin for dead. Then he is on his way back from dropping his friend off and encounters Colin again, staggering because he had been beaten up or drugged, and finished the job. He could toss him in the back of his truck and dump him somewhere remote. jmho

re: Colin's description
---“Mr. Gillis is six-feet one-inch tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a white shirt with black stripes, blue jeans and sneakers, according to the release. Colin was “possibly carrying” a orange back pack and “possibly wearing” a red or black reversible coat, the rangers said."
---"Some of the forest rangers were more specific Tuesday in the description of Colin’s apparel, saying the white shirt with black stripes he was wearing was an American Eagle brand. He was, in fact, carrying an orange back pack and his Nike sneakers were red in color. Reports indicate that he was, in fact, wearing a red and black reversible coat, with the black side out, one ranger told his party."
---"Mr. Rosentreter (last known eye-witness) said the man was wearing what he described as a “baseball style” shirt, but wearing no coat. He also disputed a report this week that Colin Gillis was carrying a backpack."
(later news reports indicate he MAY HAVE had the backpack & coat ... obviously they never turned up)

This was a little detail that also sticks out in my mind. For some reason I feel that this info is so specific, that it seems believable ... I'm curious if someone at the party saw Colin leave wearing his coat, black side out or was it A.T. who described Colin after he stopped at 1:30am?

The advantage of the local newspaper is they can really get lots of details as they interview people close to the situation as the situation unfolds ... this description was given on Tuesday - Day 2 of searching. (Whether or not the details are accurate I cannot say but this was the BIG story that week - the article was very comprehensive with details that I haven't found anywhere else.)

Do we know what kind of cell phone Colin had - that is also missing?

I agree that the coat and backpack is an important detail and you should not let it go. If we knew where those items were that would likely give us a great clue to where Colin was.

BBM YES YES YES! I wonder if the scenario given by AT was to suit himself and cover his tracks. But, AT also supposedly had a passenger the first trip by, so keep that in mind.

I wonder...was AT at the party?

Ok...so try and follow along here....AT spells his name Austen. If you google his name, spelled correctly, you will see he and a BN had a baby in 2012. So then, go to BN's FB page, I found it easily. Goto her post for March 11, 2012 and you will see she writes (and I paraphrase) how she never saw so many fights and tried to break them up, between family and friends. The post has 11 likes ...although I only count 10 names that I can see who liked it.

Sounds to me like she was at the party. Wonder if LE has interviewed her...gosh, I hope so. She is friends with Colin on her FB too.

I am trying to respect WS rules by being so vague...sorry if that is making it hard to follow.

Just some food for thought, and just my opinion.

I had been considering the possibility that A.T. isn't necessarily a bad guy, but the person he was taking home might have been. The passenger might have roughed Colin up and left him on the ground. Then A.T. spotted him on the way back and stopped. However, if the passenger was BN that wouldn't fit. I do think the missing items are an important piece of the puzzle. I hope LE is trying to figure out what happened to his missing items.

See post #18 on page 1 of this thread ... the passenger's name is in the news article quote (link no longer working though) ... initials J.A.

Great research Andalso! I was searching under Austen with an "i" & not finding much. Now I really wonder if AT & passenger JA & AT's girlfriend (BN) were all at the party ... actually makes sense why AT would happen to be driving by on that road at that time of the night. Otherwise, what a coincidence!

Does anyone find it surprising how little has come out about the party/fighting? I'm sure there were lots of rumors but I really haven't found anything. Everyone is amazingly quiet about Colin's disappearance (at least on FB) ... that in itself seems suspicious. We've all seen many other missing persons cases where FB or other social media goes crazy!

I know I mentioned it earlier on that LE made it clear they were going to be monitoring social media in Colin's case. Maybe that explains why so little?

The silence from party-goers is creepy. I get it. It's an active investigation. I just can't grasp what happened between Colin's arrival/departure from the party (and thereafter). Where were his acquaintances? What time did they leave?

What happened at the party??????

Thank you Team Colin for keeping this thread active! It's been nice seeing his name on pg 1 these past few days ... I hope everything is ok with Kadence - we all miss you!

I hope Colin isn't the decomposed body found in Massena.

But it's a possibility. :(

A google search of the passenger and his place of residence provides some interesting food for thought.

Massena is a pretty good distance from Tupper Lake.
It's about 1½ hours driving distance along Hwy 56. Colin was last seen walking along Rt 3 toward Piercefield. Hwy 56 connects Rt 3 in Tupper Lake to Massena. While it is a good distance away, it's possible that Colin was picked up by a motorist and taken to Massena. JMO

I hope that the body isn't Colin, but it's someone's loved one. :(

http://www.wwnytv.com/news/local/St...Body-Found-Near-Massena-Friday-273295841.html
In a press release, troopers said a body was found about 3 pm. St. Lawrence County Coroner Jamie Sienkiewycz took the body for an autopsy, and investigators are "searching missing persons databases," according to the release.

and

"Anyone who is aware of a missing peron who has not been reported to law enforcement is asked to call the New York State Police at 518-897-2000," the release notes.

IMO, the 2nd quote makes it sound like it's not Colin, as Massena is close enough to Tupper that LE likely would have likely made a connection to Colin pretty quickly if it was him.

I could be wrong, though.
