He's a con artist facing legal troubles for his cons. As long as he's no longer making a fool of the USA by holding a seat in Congress, I no longer give a rip about his court case. But, I hope nobody - whether it's someone in court or anyone in the public - ever makes a deal with him. He's a crook and cannot be trusted. Good riddance.

jmo
I hope jail time is involved-

He is at least finally making an honest living now on Cameo. He's selling his videos for $500 each and people are buying.

I saw before that Sarah Palin was making $200,000 a year on Cameo.

It's a crazy world. moo

A bit long - I shall shorten it up!

This NY Times article, dated 21st Dec, says that last week his lawyer told the judge he has been in negotiations with prosecutors about paths they might take to conclude the case without going to trial.

It also says that Santos is next due in court on 23rd January.

Santos also hired 2 new lawyers.
Has the thrill worn off for his $500.00 Cameos?
How the hell is he paying for his legal defense?
What a guy, thinks he's entitled to a plea deal with no jail time.

"Prosecutors said there was no need for another status conference until just before the start of trial so there is time "for the parties to pursue plea negotiations."

Will Santo's suit follow Roy Moores and get thrown into the ash heap?

A grand jury on Tuesday returned a second superseding indictment against former congressman George Santos in the Eastern District of New York.

U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said the new superseding indictment "does not allege new criminal conduct, charge the defendant with new crimes or make new substantive allegations against the defendant."

Instead, Peace said in the court document the added indictment would be to correct Scrivener's errors and make other minor changes ahead of the anticipated Sept. 9 trial.

12/12/23 Update: Santos' lawyer told the judge he has been in negotiations with prosecutors about paths they might take to conclude the case without going to trial. Santos is next due in court on 1/23/24.
1/23/24 Update: Santos added two lawyers to his legal team and prosecutors asked the judge to give the parties time "to pursue plea negotiations." Prosecutors said in a prior court filing in December they were working with Santos "with the goal of resolving this matter without the need for a trial." The prosecution also said Monday they were planning to turn over another 6,000 pages of documents as part of discovery. They also asked the judge to set a schedule for pretrial motions. Santos is currently scheduled to stand trial in September. He was denied a motion to move the trial up to June in a December court appearance. Prosecutors said there was no need for another status conference until just before the start of trial so there is time "for the parties to pursue plea negotiations." Next status hearing on 8/13/24.
6/4/24 Update: A grand jury on Tuesday returned a second superseding indictment against Santos in the Eastern District of New York. U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said the new superseding indictment "does not allege new criminal conduct, charge the defendant with new crimes or make new substantive allegations against the defendant." Instead, Peace said in the court document the added indictment would be to correct Scrivener's errors & make other minor changes ahead of the anticipated Sept. 9 trial. Peace said the second superseding indictment is "materially indistinguishable from the first superseding indictment."

......
His trial was scheduled to start on Sept. 9 but has been pushed back to Sept. 16. It is expected to last four weeks and will include three dozen prosecution witnesses.

But this article says jury selection starts 9/9.

Aug. 14, 2024

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — The fraud trial against former U.S. Rep. George Santos, slated to start in a matter of weeks, is coming into focus after a federal judge ruled Tuesday that jurors will have their identities kept secret from the public.

They won’t, however, be required to fill out a written questionnaire gauging their opinions of Santos when they arrive for jury selection Sept. 9, as his lawyers had requested.

and this one:
Aug. 13, 2024
.....
Judge Joanna Seybert confirmed the trial will begin Sept. 9 with jury selection. Lawyers for both sides said the trial is expected to last three weeks.

So - 2 out of 3 articles say 9/9 - so I will go with that.... :D Unless someone - maybe @sds71 finds something different! ;)

edited to add - if anyone knows the "time" it starts?? :)
