The FB posts saying he was Muslim were from 2011, when he was a teenager. That page doesn't seem like it's been used at all since then. His current FB doesn't mention anything about his religion in general. I wouldn't put too much weight on a facebook post from when he was a teen over a decade ago.
Okay, thanks for the clarification. In that case I'd say a hate crime attributable to religious faith is rather unlikely (imo)

This is just my honest opinion....I agree,I just took the time and translated some of his FB post and it seems like he was having trouble with maybe some neighbors or someone close to them. I do wonder if maybe this was a hate crime considering he had made it public on his profile that he is a Muslim.
I saw that too. The Dominican Republic, where he was from, is mostly Catholic, and in some circles, that might not go over well.

It could be as simple as finding mom's body lying in a position that protects the children. The family could have been herded down to the basement and Dad told to stand away from them, then they killed Dad and desperate Mom gathers her kids even tighter and they killed them as a group.
This is exactly what I am thinking. I do believe that law enforcement is keeping MANY facts about this case under wraps, regarding things only the perp(s) would know.

Agree, he may have just done that as a joke. I too translated the posts, most were teenage ramblings.

Hope LE is making steady progress. I didn’t see any updates today, anyone else?

It appears the case hasn't captured the attention of the media too much, and that LE is rightly being tight lipped.

I would add here though, that I too perused a few fb pages of one of the deceased, and along with the claim of being Muslim one can also find a photo depicting what appears to be an Easter celebration going on.

Yeah, my hunch is religion is not at the heart of this case.

This makes me think of the Chen family murders, an unsolved quadruple homicide involving a family of 4, including 2 young children in Guilderland, NY from almost 10 years ago. I find it highly unlikely they share any connection besides all being victims of horrible crimes since both happened hours away from each other, but families being murdered together especially sickening, even more so when young children are involved.
NY - NY - Jin Chen, 39, Hai Yan Li, 38, & their two sons, Guilderland, 8 Oct 2014

This article talks about the funeral for Mom and the kids. Dad isn't mentioned. This means his funeral was separate? That would have to be intentional, I think.

Also, this one....

His name is not included on the jeep either? Something is up here IMO ...

The funerals were held for 26-year-old Marangely Moreno-Santiago, 4-year-old Evangeline Ubaldo-Moreno, and 2-year-old Sebastian Ubaldo-Moreno.

Fraime Ubaldo, 30, was also killed.

Fraime is an afterthought, a token mention?

Remember that just three miles away, eight years ago, four others were murdered and it's still unsolved. Seven years later: Quadruple homicide in Rochester unsolved
Good find! These 4 also had trauma unrelated to the fire, moved to the attic this time (not basement), house was set on fire. Very coincidental. The 4 from 8 years ago were apparently duct taped, tied up and they assume it was drug related, so I'll be very curious to hear if any of those details come out in the current case as well. Like a gang trademark kind of deal maybe, imo.

I don't know that there's really any need for police to release any additional details to the public about the cause of death for this family, so we probably will never be able to learn whether or not this could be the case, but I was thinking about what might have led to the apparent "setting apart" of the adult male victim of this crime from the rest of the murder victims (as observed in memorial messages above and the kind of odd phrasing of his death as almost an afterthought in the reporting quoted above). About the only thing I can imagine (and this is purely conjecture on my part) is that perhaps the cause of his death was different from the causes of the other victims deaths? If that were the case, I could see how family members of the deceased mother and children might extrapolate that as meaning the adult male here had a different relationship to the murderer(s) than the rest of the victims did, and those family members (and/or community members who somehow learned more about the crime than the general public has) might feel like he was somehow responsible for what occurred.
