4/12 Morning Update

All is well in the Giraffe Barn - doors are open and yard time has already begun! Physical body condition remains the same, comfort level has not changed, behavior is on point.
Today's photo is of the udder, to show mammary development. For any hoaxers or #Fakenews stories questioning April and the pregnancy - a quick biology lesson - animals do not develop milk unless supporting a pregnancy. Furthermore - giraffes do not develop large udders like cattle etc, so to see this much development truly suggests calving in the near future.
Patience is a virtue! Remember, the Giraffe Cam was not set-up to capture an immediate birth - it was set-up to capture a process. Mind you, we did expect a calf sooner than this - but that is all part of the journey!

Baby is kicking mama so hard her legs look like they could go out underneath her.

Egads.. Are they preparing us that their one camera may not capture the birth? Pooh! Even the kittie site that was posted upthread had four or more cams from all angles..

Oh, I hadn't thought about that as I took it a different way. Seemed to me like the majority of that post is attempting to quiet the naysayers and hoaxers. Meaning, they are speaking of filming in general and that they wanted people to see the latter stages of pregnancy in a giraffe and not just the birth (because yes, they were a little off on their dates). Dunno?

ETA: From watching other giraffe births, it seems mama moves around quite a bit during delivery. We may not see every second, but most I would think (hope)!

While Alyssa was closing April's door, April was trying to steal a treat out of Alyssa's back pocket. It was so dang funny!

Had to rewind to see that. So funny! But it also made me tear up a bit because April was being so cuddly with Allysa. So sweet. Love seeing that.

I'm no giraffe expert. That latest udder pic looks to me exactly like the last four we've seen.

Another story about my lovely baby boy. I said I loved him right? Because I may be having a hard time understanding why I would say such a thing! I am EXTREMELY ticklish on my feet and everyone in the family knows not to come near them so what does that wonderful baby boy do? He tortures me by holding a comb right by the bottom of my foot. Then he starts throwing gum at me one piece at a time, trying to hit my mouth while I am screaming at him. So this is how our conversation went from there:

Me:"You know, "Thomas" is going to be listed as my cause of death in my obit
Thomas: (cutting me off as I am saying the last word) "Well you got one part of that right". (Obit(ch))

I love him, I do. I really do. Really.

Na na nan na I was a good man --- I was able to get a little of what I told myself last night I would get done !

So there na na nana but now I am fine and "allowed" to be here

So there

She went out early for quite a while but I do not know how long. I do know it wasn't as long as the other 2 days.
