Or maybe MIL knows her son's temper too well and wants to keep her grandson close? No telling, but I can definitely see the win-win behind staying with MIL.

Ooh didn't think of that.

Thing I am left with there though is why did she call to say she was going back if she wasn't. If she did say that that is.

I think this would have been to throw off her MIL, if she was indeed there. If the MIL was keeping a close eye on Hazuki, and accompanying her everywhere, saying she was headed home to Carlos may have been the only way to leave alone with Isse. Saying they were going to the library first may have been to buy time. (It seems to be about an hour between the two areas.)

I think MIL is on "the side" of her son...Carlos says "we" a lot. "She thinks we want to take him away from her" - I'm assuming that since no other family members have been mentioned, and he and his mother both filed reports, they are "we". (moo)

True. Again, I didn't think of that either! Great job with the theories here everyone.. I really don't think my brain has faulty switched on yet today!!!

I don't know what happened but I hope Hazuki is ok and with her baby someplace safe. I hope she will call the police and let them know that she left. There is no crime in leaving and filing for divorce if that is what she wants. Police do not have to reveal her location to her husband. I have a bad feeling she did not leave voluntarily but every time I have a feeling I am wrong (I was sure Sherri Papini was dead and KB and CDC were in a car accident) so take my gut feeling with a grain of salt. Please let someone know you are safe, Hazuki!

I'm with you on your theory but I too never get it right!

for the love of God I hope she just left and was in a good mental state.

There's a thread on another site right now asking for advice. I don't think it's in regards to Hazuki but it's interesting.

The post is asking about The Hague convention because his wife took the child to Japan. It seems that if a Japanese citizen were to flee an abusive relationship & go to Japan (if the child has dual citizenship), Japan won't send them back to America.

I'm not a legal expert but if this is true & Hazuki did flee, that's good, right?

My apologies for not getting back to you with a link sooner (had to take my daughter to be seen by a specialist two hours away yesterday, and since we were in "The City," she just had to go shopping ...)!

So I looked a little further into the treaty, and it appears that if Hazuki did indeed flee to Japan with Isse, CS might be able to request the return of the child to the U.S. since Japan is a Hague Convention partner with the United States and Isse is under the age of 16. However, Japan may refuse to return Isse, because one of the exceptions to a country’s obligation to return a child under the Convention is "a grave risk that the child would be exposed to physical or psychological harm or otherwise placed in an intolerable situation in his or her country of habitual residence." Given what CS has admitted to doing on the evening of November 8th, this exception would apply here, in my non-legal-professional opinion ;).

In the meantime, I am patiently waiting for an update ....

Would it be possible for Hazuki to have left the country and not been detected yet? I mean, I am still hopeful that this is what happened I just don't know much about that.

I don't think so. Use of her passport would be required no matter how she left. If it was just her alone MAYBE she could slip across a border somewhere undetected but she has her baby with her (we hope). I want to believe she is ok but all my logic is telling me otherwise. This is a woman who had a career for 15 years before getting married. She likely has connections all over the US, but especially in California, where she could go if she wanted to escape. Just last year her makeup work was featured in Harper's Bazaar of Brazil. It looks like she would have connections. She could leave and find work on the other side of the country easily, IMO. But if she did that she would have resurfaced by now. JMO.

Gardener! Sorry I didn't see your post until now for some reason.

I was being hopeful before but now it has gone on so long your probably right. Successful lady. I hope she is off being successful somewhere.

Have there been any further interviews with her husband? He holds the key surely.

Still nothing.

I hope the police are being silent because they are protecting Hazuki's privacy, and she and Isse are safe somewhere.

The father's name and an adorable image of him and the baby is posted here.

She left the Brooklyn apartment of husband Carlos Salazar, 43, around Nov. 8, he said, because the couple had gotten into a fight.

Ten days later, Nov. 18, she called Salazar and said she was ready to come back, the worried husband said.

She told him she was going to take their son to the library and then return to their Bay Ridge apartment — but she never showed up, he told the Daily News Friday
