Trying to catch up on all the posts in this thread...until then, maybe you guys could answer a few questions for me?

1. Karina was a beautiful girl. Do we know if she ever pursued modeling?
2. Does anyone know what kind of surgery she had on her legs, or what that surgery was for?
3. Any indication that Karina might have fallen into the "high risk lifestyle" category? ( Sorry, it needs to be asked.)

I don't believe at all that she was in a high risk lifestyle. She had her masters degree and was a speech pathologist.

Yep, I think that's what this will turn out to be. LE seems to think this way as well from the previous news reports.

Studies in Victimology suggests that there may be a coorelation between certain crimes and the lifestyles or behaviors of the victim. For instance, people who enter into the field of modeling might be more likely to subject themselves to predators who operate within that field, than someone who works in a law firm. Drug users routinely subject themselves to predators who operate within the drug world. Escorts work in a dangerous field, where violence is very common.

So, in the case of Karina, one thing that pops out to me is her online presence. Other things that might be of interest would be: was she a drug user? Was she involved in modeling? Had she ever worked in the adult entertainment industry in any way? Did she have a history of abusive relationships? Etc. etc. These are difficult questions to have to ask, but they can often be very relevant.

This is a link to Karina's personal blog. She was a very talented writer. The blog also gives insights into her lifestyle, her friends, her romantic life, etc. She does write about marijuana use starting in her senior year, but it was with her Mother's permission.

Interesting. Yes, 92nd St is what I saw when I first read she lived in Jamaica and not at her parents house. Even though I think this is a crime of opportunity, I wonder if LE checked surveillance cameras from around the area where she actually lived, the day of the crime and previous to see maybe if someone was lurking around.

EDIT: After looking up the 92nd St address, it is showing it as Howard Beach. So, media could have given wrong info referring it to 92nd street in Jamaica.

That's good sleuthing. Jamaica is different from Howard Beach. If she lived in a house, she likely would have at least one roomie.maybe more. Her roomies would have family and friends too, who may well have visited the house. And so her immediate circle is widened. Interesting.

She may not have had a roomie if the house was paid off and belonged to her parents.

I was wondering about the roommate situation also, but would've imagined media trying to get comments from anyone coming or going from the home and have not seen anything like that.

I'm pretty sure she lived alone. I have a friend who lives nearby her that also lives in the families home where she grew up and her parents purchased a house about 5 blocks away.

Seems like that's a neighborhood tradition that keeps Howard Beach so tight-knit.

By the way: an anonymous study made by the department of criminology from the university i am an alumni of, questioning 2.000 male students age between 19 and 35 years, 30 per cent of the students stated that they sometimes fantasize to have non-consensual sex with young women they do not know personally but saw their pics on instagram or facebook. I think 30% is a lot.
