I was thinking the same thing. If he was hit on the head, perhaps it caused some sort of permanent brain injury that resulted in the change in behavior. So perplexing....

That is one thought. The other thought is the muggings never happened, but he said they did as a cover story for injuries.

I wonder if he reported the mugging(s)?

I remember the media thought there were plenty of similarities in both cases, but LE never confirmed that.

Guess we now know the media was wrong in that the same perp did not commit both murders. Females being attacked while running is fairly common as far as random female attacks go. Younger females are often seen out running since they are (generally speaking) active and into running when younger, and on spring and summer days it's a common sighting.

Because it didn't actually happen. Media wasn't claiming it was the same perp. People (including here) were speculating because the crimes were so similar in nature.

He may have had some type of learning impairment prior to the incident father described (if there was one)...some of those students don't like to use social media imo

I may be wrong, but at the end of the Video, it sounded to me like KVs mother yelling "Why did you kill my kid".

IMO they kept the case close to the vest as most cases are, allowing them to investigate without anyone getting in their way or messing things up. Go NYPD!

I do NOT feel sorry for the perp one single bit, but they sure did give him the treatment with that perp walk - no coat or hoodie to cover his head. Clear photos of his face as he walked a gauntlet of photogs.

Maybe we shouldn't since MSM has taken it down. I think MSM might have jumped the gun with that orange-shirt photo. I hope not, but it looks that way. Not cool, if that is the case!

According to Jeepers Creepers above, the media mentioned several similarities between the 2 crimes (which implies the same perp may have committed the 2 crimes). Sleuthers opined on the V.M. threads it probably was the same perp since LE didn't specifically say it wasn't.
