"You can have my cars," he told Newsday. "You can have everything. I just want my wife back."

Does this comment sound odd to anyone else? You can have my cars? Just sounds odd to me

I thought the same exact thing. It sounded like a red flag to me.

WTH! I hadn't really thought anything about that comment until now. You can have my cars? Who the heck says that when their wife is missing and a body has been found and not identified. Well, now we know...a murderer!

I absolutely was caught off guard with that comment and my 'hinky meter' went off. But you see, I've been accused of ALWAYS thinking the hubby did it so I didn't want to say anything and TRIED as heck to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Is it a wonder I immediately think of the husband in so many of these cases?

Seriously, I've seen a FEW where the husband had NOTHING to do with what happened to the wife, but those are VERY FEW and FAR BETWEEN.

I'm just glad this guy was such an idiot and did so many STOOPID things.

Honestly, I'm so tired of SO MANY of these guys getting away with it.....they either can't find the wife and can't prove she's dead,............or they covered their tracks JUST ENOUGH to leave NOTHING substantial pointing to themselves. Even when it's obvious to us, LE often times feels they don't have enough to convict and the guy goes off scott free. THOSE are the ones I'm waiting for them to appear on A&E when they've done in their second or third wife.......THEN LE thinks something is fishy.:waitasec:

OMG what an idiot!! running back to a YELLOW car. i can't believe he's a mortgage broker. absolute idiot!!

What jumps out at me is that if van driver saw him run to the yellow Mustang from the Ford Focus, then he must have had help -- or else how could he have gotten both cars to that location?

I was buying his act until I read yesterday AM that he met with police till about 9:30 PM Tuesday night and then wouldn't speak to reporters as he left the police interview -- that was a big sign that he was rattled and it reminded me of Scott Peterson all over again..

What's the point, why not just get a divorce???

I wasn't able to watch the presser but I'll tell ya, seeing that video of Leah's brother is heartbreaking. Just terrible. :(

I'll never understand how someone can murder the one they've promised to love, honor, and cherish. Of course, maybe it's the phrase, ' 'til death do us part,' that they need to omit from that promise.

Seriously,
fran

PS...Like Sharon Rocha said, 'there's always divorce!' or something close.

I am with you Fran. I think that they had the fight Saturday night, he left the car on the side of the road Saturday night or Sunday and walked home. Then at some point took (with the other car) her body to the "final location." Ithink he tried to stage the flat tire and test message that Monday morning, not expecting anyone to see him at that early hour.

Couple of Questions:

Do any neighbors recall seing the Ford Focus after Saturday?
What car were they in when she was texting the other guy?
When was the last time anyone talked to her (other than text)?

After reading several articles and such today, it seems the last 'anyone other than the husband' heard from Leah was the friend in California on Saturday night. That was when they had the big blow up. Actually, I kind of think it was maybe late Saturday night or actually Sunday morning (a.m.)

I'm sure by the time trial comes, we'll know more details. Seems the neighbors kind of kept quiet except to LE until after the case was solved. Up until the guy's arrest, all I heard the neighbors say was that they were a nice, happy couple. THEN AFTER he's arrested we hear about the argument Saturday. (or Sunday a.m.?)

RE: "You can have my cars."

That jumped out at me too -- It frosted me that he says "my" cars. Were both of them "his"? Did he pay for them himself? He didn't seem to be a high roller career wise..

Hi Fran! Bold above is mine. I agree with your take on things. And might I add an adjective to staged: POORLY (staged)

Yeah, and now his attorney wants to throw out his confession because the poor guy hadn't had any sleep.

Wellllll...........IF he hadn't been so busy MURDERING his WIFE and DISPOSING of her body and EATING AT MCDONALDS, he would have been able to fit a few hours of sleep in there! :furious:

Gggrrrr,

First he brought the Focus to the site where he left it and walked on foot back to their apartment.

Then (the idiot) went back in his yellow mustang, for whatever reason, and was spotted by the HELP truck.

Yeah, he's a rocket scientist, this one.

Probably the only thing he had of value, IMO.

That makes sense, nothing like making yourself easy to spot and identify.. Doh! :bang:

Thanks for merging threads!
I think he went back to the Focus Monday morning to send the text message from her phone to his.

A. I think he went back to the car the next morning to send the text message. do we know if the cell phone has been found? my guess is that it was in the car or in the purse that was thrown in the ditch. and not with the body 13 miles away.

B. She was strangled and left there for 36ish hours...why would she have to be ID w/fingerprints? She should have still been recognizable?

Either additional injuries were inflicted to her head and face or there was animal acitivity ( Is it feasible to have that kind of activity that soon?)

Also it totally ticks me off thinking that he carefully selected which car to use as her mode of travel.. he didnt want the other harmed or stolen..

I think my radar went off when i first heard of the crocodile tears at the inlaws.. not at first but in about 1 minute after I automatically thought somethings not right here.. wondered if he had harmed her.. then felt guilty for assuming it was him.. and darned if i wasnt right.. yet again. So freaking sad for her, her family and friends and her students. WTH is wrong with these losers that they kill a spouse .. all you have to do is walk away.. so many alternatives and instead you would rather face the dealth penalty then divorce.. My deepest sympathies to the family and all who loved her most..

I wondered this, as well. :waitasec:

I'm curious if it's additional injuries, but I suppose animal activity is a possibility, too.

I'm glad that the husband has been arrested so quickly and it looks like justice will probably be served in this case. I'll never understand why these scumbags don't just get a divorce!! :furious: My prayers to Leah's family and friends.
