Hello Everyone.

I just discovered this forum. After reading through most of these posts with a fresh set of eyes, there are some things that I have to point out because they are very obivous (yet not mentioned). Just so you know a little about my credibility, I lived in the town of Babylon for over thirty years as a child. My mom always took our family to Cedar Beach and Cedar Overlook beach. My dad would take us fishing and clamming in the Great South Bay (where I still have a boat). When I was in my late teens/early 20's I was a frequent patron of the OBI (Oak Beach Inn). I also dated a girl who was the dockmaster at Cedar Beach Marina. Every Summer I would take my father's boat and stay over in a transient slip with dozens of other boats who spent the night to hang out. My younger brother and his friends all worked as mates on charter & party boats at Captree. I had a friend who's uncle owned one of the Oak Beach Association homes (who we often visited). I also had a friend who dated a girl from Freeport who introduced us to the sections of ioslated dunes of Jones, Tobay & Gilgo beaches where teenagers could hangout undetected. I also hung out with a group of guys who often utilized sections of Ocean Parkway as their personal dragstrip. Even as an adult, I have been a frequent visitor to Captree Park as well as the bay side of Ocean Parkway every summer with my children to go fishing and crabbing in the exact vicinity of where the bodies were found.

Needless to say, a guy like me knows practically every inch of sand, every tunnel (YES, there are PEDESTRIAN TUNNELS that go under ocean parkway to link north and south lots!), every pathway, every speedtrap, and every fishing hole. And there are probably thousands (if not tens of thousands) of guys on Long Island just like me (assuming that the SK is a guy) who are extremely familiar with the area. Ocean Parkway has always been (at least up until now) our scenic playground. It is one of Long Island's treasures that helps us justify why we pay such high property taxes.

Knowing what I know, here are my most obvious thoughts and observations on this case;

  1. Craiglist stopped running erotic ads in early 2009. My wife and I just saw the tv movie on Lifetime about the original "Craiglist Killer". At the end they state that Craiglist under pressure agreed to stop running ads. If I'm not mistaken, some of the girls have gone missing since then. When I one of our dogs had a puppy litter, I ran free ads all over the internet. When I researched where to run those ads, Craigslist had a major competitor called BackPage.com. Looking at their site right now and it's clear as day that they TOOK OVER Craiglist's erotic ad section!!! I wonder why the police are leaving this out? Maybe the SK wants to be known as the BackPage Killer and they don't want to give in to his desire?
  2. Burlop bags are used to carry bait (especially clams). I think we are going to eventually learn that the killer was someone with ties to the Captree boats. Either he is a fisherman, a mate, a commerical boat owner, bait supplier, etc... These people also all have access to large WALK-IN FREEZERS! Also, if pulled over by police, chances are their pickup trucks would smell so horribly of old bait/fish that they would cover any smell of a decomposing body!
  3. The Town of Babylon issues 4 Wheel Drive BEACH PERMITS for fisherman. The access road to the town's beach where 4 wheel drive vehicles is permitted is right near Oak Beach. I'm sure the town has a registry of everyone with a permit. It would not be unusual to see a fisherman entering or exiting the beach at 3am-4am on any given night.
  4. There are many, many asian fisherman who fish off of the beach in that area and Fire Island on the bay side. I'm not racist. Just stating the facts. Anyone familiar with the area is well aware that there are hundreds of asian fisherman who flock to this area to fish. There are also a great deal of Mexican immigrants who love to fish in this area. When I'm down there with my family fishing we are always checked by the NYS DEC law enforcement for our fishing licenses and to make sure that we are not clamming in restricted areas. These officers can paint a very clear picture of the profile of the majority of the people who now frequent these shorelines.
  5. The gates ARE NOT the only way in or out of the association's streets. There are many areas with no fences (just brush). The gates were only to keep out the crowds who frequented the area when the OBI was open. When we were kids, there were no gates. You can still walk the water line all the way back to the bridge or all the way to the end of Jones Beach without any problem. To state that someone would have to enter/exit the community via the front gate only is not true if they are on foot. It's an open area with many pathways to the roads and to the beaches.
  6. Finally, it's a well know fact that the Nassau police often patrol their section of Ocean Beach while the Suffolk Police don't patrol their section often. The state troopers simply know/expect more to happen around Jones too because there are so many more visitors. With this in mind, I think the bodies found near Gilgo are the work of a mastermind SK while the ones they found near Jones this week probably are unlrelated and not the work of a SK or anyone who as much knowledge of the area as the SK.

Anyway, I have many other thoughts/feedback to provide but I fear I'm running out of room and do not want to make this post any longer than I already did so I will post more tonight as the ideas come to minds.

I guess Maureen Barnes, the woman who went missing in 2007, might be that skeletonized, but wow.

I don't see any long bones, either, though those are the ones most likely to be dragged off by animals. And their numbered flags are in the right spot for foot bones, which wouldn't show in the weeds and bad light.

Actually, when is that video from? I assumed it was December, but is it more recent?

A Philippine surname. Therefore, this fits with the witness' description of the Driver of the vehicle whom Shannan was running from. Likely of Filipino descent.

Looks like Shannan has worked with him before. Therefore, she was driven by her own Driver. They had a driver-and-girl operation.

Don't think The Driver=The Drifter. Imma go (for today) with Shannan's Driver is a witness.

Where's the Drifter at this point? And who is the Drifter?

Well, yes and no. They rebranded their "erotic ads" section to "adult ads." The latter were not closed down until last fall. I posted an overview of that trajectory on an earlier thread. Since I don't feel like reposting that, here's the link.

It is very doubtful this guy is a mastermind. The primary reason people tend to think SKs are extremely smart is bc of body counts, the gruesome factor, and the fact that he hasn't been caught... the belief they must be really smart to evade LE.

Backpage replaces Craigslist as prostitution-ad leader

Village Voice Media, with its Backpage.com classifieds site, is the new leader in prostitution advertising now that Craigslist has eliminated its erotic services ad section in the United States.

“There are clear signs that some revenue and listings are migrating to Backpage and to other sites that specialize in prostitution advertising,” said Mark A. Whittaker, an AIM Group consultant who worked on the report. “It doesn’t seem likely that alternative sites will be able to absorb all of the money that had been spent with Craigslist.”

To SeaSlug: how common is it to see and hear 4-wheelers on the beach at all hours and do people use a small trailer with the 4-wheeler, maybe to haul things like bait in burlap sacs? TY so much for the info!

1. No suspect/s named. Person/s of interest? I don't know. Officially?
2. Addresses may be related to some mapping of the gated community.
3. Dormer stated yesterday that the doc is not a suspect. I believe at some other point in time, we may have read that the john was not a suspect.

Let's becareful in the sleuthing. If the doc is not a POI/Suspect, then he is not sleuthable. Same with the john and/or driver. Posting addresses of innocent folks is also against the rules. If you sleuth, you can not post it here until LE or MSM give us a POI/suspect, okay?

As for addresses, it does look like you are trying to follow SG's path which is good, but please try to find a way to discuss it without including addresses of innocents, okay?

As always - discussion of MSM info and any info from LE is okay. Also speculation and theories, as long as they are not outrageous or name innocents, is okay.

Thanks everybody! I think you all are doing an awesome job here. This is one scary case.

In answer to your Qs
1. No suspect/POI announced by LE
2. So far, addresses being posted are those of witnesses who LE interviewed in the SG case.
3. Not that I know of but I do think a banner or something to remind people to a) not post names, b) not post home addresses and c) not post children's pics might be a good idea. Esp since, in their "excitement" ppl seem to repeatedly forget these extremely important rules.

We may have stumbled upon the name of Shannan's driver, who did not wish to have his name released. However, his name was found in MSM for an arrest.

Salem, quick question; the individuals in this case that are mentioned HAVE been named in MSM, and in fact, they are still being interviewed and discussed. It is actually a bit unclear as to their suspect status. You can find media reports and articles that are contradictory regarding almost every aspect of this case. Take the John for instance (JB). He is definitely at the very center of this case, and is mentioned in a lot of media articles. I am not sure we can do anything without being able to discuss key players like him... right??? Thanks in advance for your guidance and wisdom. We appreciate what you do more than we can ever say!
 
I can't help likening this case to the Robert "Willie" Pickton (Pig Farmer) serial killer, who killed so many woman in Canada.
