~It really stands out to me that burlap/hessian sandbags are commonly used for beach-side/water-side houses to prevent water damage, erosion and flood control. Although burlap/hessian has immeasurable uses, Im sure you see where Im going with this.
Randomly quoted from Wikipedia:
-Sandbags are often used to temporarily stabilize soil from erosion, such as oceanfront structures whose foundations have been undermined from heavy waves.
-A sandbag (flood bag) is a sack made of hessian/burlap, polypropylene or other materials that is filled with sand or soil and used for such purposes as flood control,
-Hessian is also commonly used for making sandbags, empty hessian sacks that, when filled with sand, are used for flood mitigation when building temporary embankments against floodwaters
Other burlap uses: (not from Wiki)-You can use them in your garden to protect trees and new grass seed.
in agriculture, construction. Because burlap is a strong, natural, biodegradable material, it makes good erosion control products such as sandbags. Burlap bags are used for collecting fallen leaves, ground coverings in nurseries, and in winter residential gardens to prevent frost and wind damage.
