Hello everyone ~ I have a suggestion that unidentified person is look similar to the Daniel Ted Yuen, a 16 years old teen who disappeared in 2004 year. Comparing the approximately facial reconstruction of unrecognized person, with all of the reconstruction's probability, the facial shape and facial details appears have some similarities, such as wide shape of nose, brows and eyes settled in similar proportions, shape of lips, jawline and cheeks, brow angle, the distance between facial parts also looks like a same on reconstruction and photos... Unidentified person according to the NamUs website information is in his late teen\young adult age (gap between 16-22 years old), height of unidentified person's remains 5' 0"-5' 4"(60-64 inches) , estimated. Which possibly can relate to Daniel's 5'6'' . The background of missing person make probability that he after run away from a school in California, managed to go in New York and live there wandering life (as found carpet together with unidentified person) and New York is more closer to his home place in New Jersey.
Estimated Year of Death of the unidentified person is 2004-2006, and its fits to the time when Daniel was gone and lost contact with his family. The calendar of 2005 year in wallet, gives some relation to a time frame. Unidentified person stated as Asian or Latino. It is unclear if the DNA was extracted from the unknown person's, it would be good if legal authorities do extract DNA of remains to compare it with DNA of Daniel's family members, to make sure whether it is same person or no. I am apologize in advance if my post written incorrectly, I am just registered here and new. ~ Hopefully this suggestion can add some more ideas, and more people can review and move it forward as I am not located in USA. I already write the potential match form at the doenetwork website to professional team review. Please pay attention

Good catch! I have e-mailed the NamUs correspondents (Lori Bruski and Allison O'Neal) about this potential ID. Seems like Daniel's case is still relatively active as his rule-outs stretch to 2016. Don't know if this actually works but I'd always recommend you guys also send in e-mails so the correspondents know the public is interested in this possibility :) If I was brave I would call one of the investigative agencies listed but alas, the moment I get on the phone every intelligent thought leaves my body o_O

Thank you! Its good idea. ~ The more people write them, the more possible they will take attention and give it a try to check. I would also to contact the investigation agencies if there can find any e-mail or message contact, to give them a suggestion as well. But its problem for me too call from abroad and I feel myself helpless in this way.... :(
It can be a nice idea to suggest authorities to try the DNA extract also not only for a comparison with Daniel's parent's DNA, but also to do actual appearance prediction of the unidentified person via DNA. As this forensic company do Police Predictions - Parabon® Snapshot® DNA Analysis Service It is unclear if authorized organizations did that at a moment now. If they can compare predicted picture to actual photos of Daniel, hopes it can be helpful and give more chances to recognize a person. Hope more people can do forward this suggestions all to investigator\facilities.
 
I have been thinking about this case for some time and after some research, I think I have come across at least two possible matches, and I could not find a thread in regards to him.

The unidentified person case is The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
The reconstruction of his face has just stuck with me for a long time and I think that the belongings he was found with could be a big factor in finding his identity. He was discovered in January of 2021.

The first of the two possibilities is a bit of a stretch and I realize that but the resemblance is rather uncanny to me. The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
He did go missing in 2002 and the wallet found had a calendar from 2005 which is the thing that doesn't fit. I mean he could have disappeared on his own for some time but I realize that's not probable.

The second is closer in time but farther in proximity. The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Do you have any other possibilities for matches or opinions on my thoughts??

This entry in NamUs is so sad. His race isn't known? No close-up photo available and no details besides "missing." :( (Although at least there is a photo, unlike many cases).

I was thinking about whether our UID must have gone missing during 2005, or would the calendar have already been available earlier at some point in 2004? (Possibly...)

I'm thinking unlikely match but I wouldn't rule it out yet.
 
I wrote to the case mgr. on Namus re. Ronny Sosa Pineda as a possible for the Staten Island John Doe (wrote once before, no answer) and also re. Oved Duarte as mentioned by a previous poster just to see if we can get a response on those two names. I just don't think any of the others mentioned in this thread thus far are enough of a fit. JMO
 
Just a note to say I heard back from Namus case mgr. same day that I wrote to give the 2 names as mentioned in my last post. They needed a few more details so will resend later today.
 
What about Mia Santiago? A 16-year old transgender (MtF) woman who vanished from Brooklyn in '05. Height is a bit off, but the timeline lines up well.

I recall seeing this in the news and two things come to mind:
In December 2003, a tour was done by the creator of "Forgotten NY". MARINERS MARSH PARK - Forgotten New York

A 2018 article: Fouled Mariners Marsh a sad remnant of Staten Island's industrial past (commentary)
The land was transferred over to the Parks Department in 1997 and in 2003 was closed off to the public with the exception of environmental investigation that would be ongoing. Between 2011-2012, the EPA cleaned up what they believed was the most contaminated area of the park, in 2014 the city cleaned up "half-acre portion of the site near Richmond Terrace" with grant funding. The site was monitored, if someone had dumped this person's body there it would have been found before that no?

Between 2017-2018 I see there's no more activity taking place there, then COVID happened. The boots IMO don't look deteriorated enough for something that was open to the elements for so long (even if they were covered by the rug). I think someone saw a chance to dispose of the remains during those inactive years.

Only a small area on the streetside remained open during this environmental investigation, that's not where the remains were found though.
 
I really want to submit this person: Oved Duarte

He went missing from Spring Valley, NY which is an hour away from Staten Island. Duarte was last seen in July 2005 when he left his family's home. His family got a call from him 4 days later in which Duarte said he wasn't coming home. Duarte was 5'4" which fits the height estimate. He was 16 which also fits the age estimate. The only problem is that Duarte doesn't have a photo.

I was the one who wrote re. Oved Duarte over year ago, and I am ashamed to say I was negligent and did not follow up by providing more info. to the investigator who I contacted. First letter had been unanswered by him, so I had rewritten and that is when he required more info. Today I finally wrote again with more details, re Duarte and Pineda, two possibles. Would you please go ahead and write as well, as more chance of being taken seriously with multiple enquires IMO. :)? I used the contact name on the NAMUS page for this UID.
