So, I found this interesting. Apparently, Nicole Plaud was *cremated* in Orlando (presumably, in November 2019). Yet, LE was quoted days after the discovery that there were only ashes left in the burned-out vehicle.

"Rinaldo told reporters on Thursday the vehicle was “completely incinerated” and everything inside of it was “nothing more than ashes.”
Toddler Found Sleeping Alone on Buffalo Porch After Human Remains Found in Missing Parents’ Burned Rental Car

Maybe I don't understand enough about potential funeral/burial process... Would ashes be cremated?

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) It has been eleven weeks since the disappearance of three Florida residents who came to Buffalo with a little boy who turned up alone on a porch.

News Four has confirmed exclusively that key suspects in this case have been in custody for months. They were picked up on federal drug conspiracy charges, and for now are only charged with drug charges, but in the words of an assistant US Attorney, “We believe they are all substantially involved, if not directly involved in the murders of three persons.”

In late September, Buffalo Police released surveillance video of suspects running away from a burning van holding the hand of the little boy whose parents were found dead inside. Three year old Noelvin turned up alone on a porch more than a half mile away talking about a car burning. He is now in the custody of other family members in Florida.

In the days following the release of that video, federal agents were prompted to take a closer look at the continual surveillance video they had been watching for months on some known drug houses on Box Avenue and on drugs suspects they were familiar with . In that video, an assistant U.S. Attorney said, in open court transcripts, that “the behavior they are demonstrating on that day is unique and different and out of sorts.”

The day he’s talking about is the night of September 15th, and the early morning hours that followed, when the Chrysler Pacifica van rented by Noelvin’s parents was torched with their bodies inside, off Tonawanda Street.

“That van is last seen at about 6 o’clock on September 15. It’s not seen again on video until approximately 2:30 a.m,” said the federal prosecutor, who described in court how Buffalo Police cameras captured the movements of the van and a red Kia Optima which had been known to frequent the drug houses on Box Avenue. “The red Optima is seen near, and I want to say with the van and on different occasions, I should add as well, two or three different occasions, it’s seen near the van,” according to an assistant US Attorney.

Late on the night in question, prosecutors say that red car is seen on video backing far into the driveway of a home on Box Avenue and two people are seen carrying seven or eight large contractor bags to a fire pit behind the house.

“It actually leaves and comes back, and, at that point, someone is wiping the back interior of the Kia Optima,” said the prosecutor in open court. “That is striking to law enforcement because they’ve watched these persons for months now; and to see them wiping down the car, trying to destroy evidence, trying to get rid of evidence is concerning.”

Federal agents ended up finding human remains in that fire pit behind the home on Box Avenue. Archeological tests are still being conducted to determine whether or not it is in fact the body of Dhamyl Roman, the close family friend who had traveled with Noelvin’s parents from Florida.

On Box Avenue, in addition to finding human remains, agents also found possible other evidence near the fire pit, according to prosecutors. “They found boxer briefs also containing a red stain in the trash can, and these boxer briefs match boxer briefs that were found in a hotel room in a suitcase where that Chrysler Pacifica had been earlier that day”

News Four is not reporting the names of the suspects. They have been in federal custody for two months, but for now are only charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute drugs. The US Attorney’s Office is still developing the case of the three murders. An assistant U.S. Attorney has said in open court, that these drug suspects are believed to be “substantially involved, if not directly involved, in the murders of three persons.”

Key suspects already in custody in burned bodies case

I’ve read through the article. Key suspects already in custody in burned bodies case It stated the suspects have been arrested months ago. IMO The Crime was commited on a Sunday. Sept 15, 2019. I went back into the Buffalo news crime section. I wanted to maybe see if there was any articles about a person or persons arrested for drug charges. Specifically cocaine, or the mention of a Red Kia Optima. I went back starting 9-15. There are a few different articles that stand out. Imoo One inparticular stood out most. September 23 (a Monday) There was a traffic stop (Jeep not Kia) two people were arrested for gun and a “Large amount of crack cocaine” drug possession. It states the two people were from Rochester. Now I do recall Damy being from or residing in the Rochester suburb for some time before he moved to Florida. One of three missing adults in Buffalo homicide case has ties to Rochester
It’s worth noting the two suspects arrested WERE NOT named in the article. One was Male one was Female. Now, to me this is interesting because while reading through each listed arrest each suspect has been named. Imoo this could be related to the case. All MY opinion. In the first article posted they stated “We believe they are all substantially involved, if not directly involved in the murders of three persons.”

Do I think the female was directly involved in the murder? No. But they could be putting pressure on them both hoping the Male suspect gives up any accomplices. All MY OWN opinion. They could potentially already have named other people. Idk Since there’s no names listed in the article I thought it would be ok to share my findings. As I don’t want to accuse innocent people. (And if this is not allowed I apologize) here’s the article from the Buffalo News Regarding the arrest made Monday Sept 23 2019 2 arrested after gun, drugs found during Amherst traffic stop

New update Key suspect

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) On June 23, 2006, federal agents broke up the so-called “cash money gang”, arresting 18 people and declaring a man named Jariel Cobb the leader of the gang.

“He has the potential to serve 20 years to life for this second arrest and subsequent conviction,” said Terrance Flynn, who at the time was the U.S. Attorney for the western district of New York.

In reality, he served only ten years in federal prison, got out three years ago and all of last summer, federal agents kept surveillance video running on the Box Avenue homes he frequents.

Last September, a little boy showed up alone on a porch. His parents’ bodies were found in the burnt van they rented in Florida. Buffalo Police released surveillance video of two suspects running from the scene on Tonawanda Street in Buffalo.

According to an assistant US Attorney in open court, the day after that video was released, “Buffalo Police received information that one of the persons shown in the video–is a person named Jariel Cobb…… So the FBI ramped up their investigation into Jariel Cobb.”

Then, eight days after three people were murdered, federal prosecutors arrest Jariel Cobb, James Reed, Jahaan McDuffie, Deanna Olbert and Destenee Bell on federal narcotics conspiracy charges accusing them of possessing with intent to distribute heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

The day after their arrests, agents searched a property on Box Avenue and found human remains in a fire pit. On Box avenue , according to the prosecutor’s own words, “the footage shows Jariel Cobb and James Reed showing up in the late hours of September 15, and throwing away or bringing back to a fire, approximately seven or eight bags contractor bags full of something.” Archeological testing is still being done to try to confirm whether or not those bones are in fact the remains of Dhamyl Roman the third adult who came from Florida. in that van with Noelvin and his parents.

The U.S. Attorney’s office is leading this investigation but has not commented on when or if someone will be charged in the murders of Miguel Valentin-Colon, Nicole Merced-Plaud and Dhamyl Roman-Audiffred.

Buffalo drug kingpin is a key suspect in burned bodies case

EDIT: My apologies. I see this was already posted.

So, here's a Buffalo News piece from 2006 that gives some further insight into "Jariel Cobb" (mentioned above as being in custody - again - now). At the time - 2006 - he was facing 20 years to life in prison.

FBI arrests suspected East Side gang leader 18 people charged after drug raids

Does anyone know which of the persons in the video (with the youngster) is "Doobie" and which is "Jimmy Fats"?

“Dobbie” is the still shot bald one. His picture was what made people call in the tip line. Imoo I found his fb and James Reeds facebook. It seems to me Jimmy has the toddlers hand running.

Am local, a neighborhood away, and watching it unfold has been a ride.

From today's paper:

Videos tie ex-gang leader to triple murder, burned-out van, abandoned child

Prosecutors say the video is both clear and disturbing in what it shows.

Late on a Sunday night in mid-September, Jariel Cobb and James Reed can be seen carrying more than a half-dozen black contractor bags to a fire pit behind a home on Box Avenue, according to court papers.

Later, a medical examiner found human remains and bones in the fire pit.

Cobb and Reed are in custody on drug charges, but federal prosecutors believe they are also tied to the deaths of a Florida couple found inside a burned-out minivan on Tonawanda Street.

The couple's 3-year-old son was later found abandoned but alive on Potomac Avenue.

"The footage is excellent," Assistant U.S Attorney Brendan T. Cullinane said in court of the video showing Cobb and Reed. "You can see what's going on. You can see who is there, as long as it's angled, and you can see who is in the picture. And it's disturbing what it shows."

Even more important, perhaps, prosecutors point to a second video showing two individuals and a toddler leaving the scene of the minivan fire on Tonawanda Street.

Since then, police have confirmed that human remains found inside the van are those of Nicole Marie Merced-Plaud, 24, and Miguel Valentin-Colon, 31, the couple that arrived here from Florida shortly before the murders. They were traveling in a rented white van with their son, Noelvin, and a friend, 29-year-old Dhamyl Mirella Roman-Audiffred.

"Shown in that video running away from what appears to be the explosion of this Chrysler Pacifica is a person named Jariel Cobb," Cullinane told U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy at the time of Cobb's arrest in September.

Cobb, the former head of the Cash Money Gang, a violent Buffalo street gang broken up more than a decade ago, is well known to the FBI and Buffalo police. Those are the two agencies investigating what court papers refer to as a triple murder, though they do not identify Roman-Audiffred as the person whose remains were found in the fire pit.

In 2006, Cobb was one of 18 people arrested in a raid that included more than 300 federal, state and local law enforcement officials and targeted more than 20 locations in Buffalo, Lackawanna and Cheektowaga.

Cobb was sentenced to prison – his second stint there – because of his leadership role in the gang and, after his release, remained on the feds' radar. He had previously served time in the 1990s for drug dealing while with the Goodyear Crew, another Buffalo street gang.

Lawyers for Cobb and Reed declined to comment this week but, in the past, defense attorneys have noted that none of their clients is charged with murder. The allegations against them were made public during a bail hearing for Destenee Bell, a co-defendant in their drug case.

"There is nothing in this indictment about a murder," Judith Kubiniec, Bell's defense lawyer, said at the time.

Cullinane argued during Bell's bail hearing that she had substantial, if not direct, involvement in the three deaths and may have taken part in the destruction of evidence.

He also pointed several times to Cobb's involvement and, at one point, noted that yet another video showed Cobb's red Kia Optima parked next to the white minivan. The videos came from city surveillance cameras mounted on poles as well as from an FBI camera on a pole outside the Box Avenue home.

"Law enforcement also recovered a gas can, multiple bottles of torch fluid, bloody clothing and all near a fire pit," he said, referring to the house on Box.

During the bail hearing, Cullinane said the use of gas and torch fluid is evident on the video, which showed the fire raging at certain times.

He also referred to the medical examiner who was brought to the Box Avenue house and asked to examine the human remains found there.

"These were fresh," Cullinane told McCarthy. "Those were the words, I was told, of the medical examiner's plain-view examination of the bones."

The FBI and Buffalo police continue to look for evidence of Cobb's ties to the Buffalo couple but, according to three law enforcement sources, it may have to do with two kilograms of suspected cocaine found in the couple's hotel room.

Sources said the suspected cocaine was discovered inside a cooler in the hotel, which is near the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

Investigators think the drugs could help establish a reason for why Merced-Plaud, Valentin-Colon and Roman-Audiffred were in Buffalo.

Meanwhile, Noelvin is in the custody of relatives.

Does anyone else find it interesting that the newscaster seemed twice to stress that the police are not saying if the two people in the video that were seen running away from the vehicle may already be in custody on unrelated charges?[/QUOTE
